Dark Space (Sentients of Orion S.)
Dark Space (Sentients of Orion S.)
by Marianne de Pierres
Edition: Paperback
Price: 8.16

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Story, 6 April 2010
This is the first book I have read from this author and I did like it and decided to continue to read the other books in this series. It can take time to get used to those Italian words and for someone like me who doesn't speak the language at all. I could only try to guess what they really mean (which was initially slightly annoying but after the same words were repeated often enough you get used to them).

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent story continues, 6 April 2010
Charles Stross continues this excellent series of books with another excellent book. Only problem I can say is that books are too short... cannot wait until next book is out.

Pushing Ice

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Alastair Reynolds, 5 Mar 2010

Book is well written and interesting enough to keep you reading it. If you have read any other books from the same author and liked them, you will not be disappointed.
I wonder if there will be a sequel coming out soon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good basic switch, 3 Jan 2010
This is a good 1GB switch as long as you don't need to be able to manage ports. I have used these for couple of years now and never had any issues (although I have seen couple comments on Internet about in some rare occasions when auto negotiation fails and defaults to 10MB half-duplex). Runs relatively cool (if you stack couple of them together without proper ventilation, they do get hot). 4 starts only because basic interface management feature would be good (like forcing interface settings in case auto negotiation fails).

3.0 out of 5 stars Same story from different point of view, 6 July 2009
This review is from: Zoe's Tale (Paperback)
This book goes through almost the same events that were covered in previous book but this time it is from teenage girls point of view. Interesting book over all, but I wasn't that impressed. Mainly because I knew what was going to happen and I personally do not like to read/watch anything if I know how it is going to end.
I have to admit that writer managed to capture that teenage girl 'feeling' quite well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, 1 Mar 2009
This review is from: Glasshouse (Paperback)
Glasshouse continues very loosely the world that Accelerando started (both books are written as stand alone books but share some of the same concepts) and is written the classic Stross style (comparing to Eschaton and Merchant Princess series). Story is quite interesting and keeps up the plot all the way to the end. Not the best book from the author but well worth reading.

2.0 out of 5 stars Slightly disappointing, 1 Mar 2009
This review is from: Accelerando (Paperback)
I can see why it took so long to write this book. Book has some really interesting concepts, but just too difficult to read. There were times I considered to stop reading it, but decided to continue just to see how it ends. At the end it does deliver, but took some 200 pages before starting to get interesting (for me at least). I wouldn't recommend this to be the first book to be read from Charles Stross. He has much better books (Eschaton series or Merchant Princess series are highly recommended) to start with.

4.0 out of 5 stars High quality fiction, 1 Mar 2009
Book 4 of Merchant Princess series keeps providing the same qualities as the previous books in this series. Story starts to shape quite well and starting to develop some new interesting plots. Highly recommended.
