Failed after 2nd use.....not impressed!

Just to reiterate other reviews; there is an arrow on the `pump' to indicate the direction of flow. To initiate the siphon process the arrow must be pointed upwards to start the `suction'. Once the liquid is flowing the pump can be released.

However, mine worked well the first time it was used. It struggled to start the 2nd time but eventually got going; on the third use it had completely given up the ghost..... it was only used to siphon clean water ........approx 1 bucketful each time!

I wonder about the veracity of the 5* reviews on this product as there are so many 1* reviews..........but then again, If I'd reviewed my item after using it just once I would have given it 5 stars!

Refund Amazon please...........

1.0 out of 5 stars 100% Effective...at separating me from my money., 7 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These `traps' are just a small sheet of 2 x 8 inch very thin plastic with sticky adhesive on one side. Just like Sellotape adhesive.
There doesn't appear to be anything in the adhesive that attracts flies.

The flowery pattern printed on the back of the sheet is little more than a marketing ploy to attract buyers, not flies.

The trap depends on the flies blundering into the adhesive or flies with suicidal tendencies deliberately diving into the them; had lots of flies this summer but not a single recorded death attributable to the traps......NOT ONE!

I very rarely have cause to question the review system on Amazon but I have serious doubts about the validity of the 5* reviews.

Anyone who says the trap caught `loads' of flies must have a very serious infestation problem; one that requires something more than this hopeless product.

First impressions:-
Appears to be very well made. The slightly stretchy inner rubber/silicone sleeve fits the iphone-4S perfectly. This inner sleeve on its own would give a fair degree of impact protection. One completes the package by clipping the inner sleeve into the harder outer Polycarb shell. The two parts fit together so well it is almost impossible to tell it is not one single unit. Disassembly, if required, is very quick and easy.

The outer shell is obviously `slicker' (but not slippy!) to the feel than the inner sleeve. However, the inner sleeve is exposed slightly around the edges of the screen, just enough the offer an amount of friction to prevent the phone sliding (too easily) out of a loose pocket etc.

All the control buttons, charging port, camera etc are completely accessible without removing either of the two component shells.

The cover increases the overall dimensions of the iphone-4S as follows:

Depth: 9mm > 14mm, Length: 115mm > 120mm, Width: 59mm > 65mm

The case offers no protection for the face of the phone except for the slim raised ridge around the edges but it's `horses for courses'; you'll need a wallet type cover for that.

I am very pleased with my purchase; so far!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good item for the price., 31 Aug 2013

Good item for the price. I’ve loaded it with 30GB of data both in and out with no problems. I’ve only used it with USB-2; I don’t have a USB-3 port yet.

It comes formatted as FAT-32 so if you need to copy large files (greater than 4GB) then you need to reformat it as NTFS.

The copy in/out data speeds are fine for USB-2. It varies with the hardware but my on PC (AMD Phenom II 955 processor) the speed both in & out was approx 2GB/minute; on my laptop (i3 380m processor) the speed both in & out was approx 1.2GB/minute.

The casing is not the most robust on the market but with a little TLC it should be fine.

Overall, given the price, I am very pleased with my purchase.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent printer. CD print s/w poor; but can be sorted., 22 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this printer to use all the functions it purports to perform. i.e. text, photo and CD/DVD printing.

For the price of the item the print quality, with the bonus of Wireless utility (provided you have a suitable wireless router) is very good - no complaints.

It is quite frustrating the way it seems to endlessly chunter away (presumably purging the print heads) before printing anything and after printing. It seems to do it when just idling in stand-by; it appears to have a mind of its own, but for the price I can live with that.

I do a fair bit of CD/DVD printing and have always used Epson printers that have excellent software to run that utility.

I bought this item assuming that the CD/DVD print software supplied would be a `reasonable' standard given this printer is newly released and from a world renowned brand.
The printer comes with an archaic software package called `Canon My Image Garden' and the CD print utility is tucked away inside it. It's almost like Canon are embarrassed about the CD print utility; and well they might be. It is the most annoying, counter intuitive, inflexible, pathetic, and for me personally, totally useless piece of software I've seen for years.
After much digging with Canon drivers etc it transpired that an old cd/dvd print software driver (not supplied with this printer) will work with this newest printer. It was superseded by the 'My Image Garden' print CD/dvd software. (God knows why).
I downloaded the old cd/dvd print driver/package from their EUR website and it works just fine. Very similar to the Epson CD print software for those familiar.(see comment no.1 for more info)
The cd print utility within the supplied software package may be ok for many users but was too basic for my needs.
Notwithstanding the cd print 'confusion', it is a decent printer made all the more attractive by the price. Mind you, I have not tried to buy new ink cartridges yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality cable, 22 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An excellent cable for the price. Works perfectly & is very well constructed. I purchased a 1.5m cable and it is exactly that length from tip to tip; (I know there are some cables out there where the ‘stated’ cable length and actual length can vary somewhat.)
In terms of ‘flexibility’ the cable is about the same as TV coax cable.
I am very pleased with my purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent additional phone., 27 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having recently purchased a set of 3 Panasonic phones (item no. KX-TG8063EB ) I decided to expand the system to 4 phones hence my purchase of this additional unit.
It is exactly the same unit, in every way, as my original 3 sets. Although the Amazon ad states that the model is KX-TGA806E `B' the actual model number (as shown inside the battery compartment) is KX-TGA805E `B'
The new handset, once `Registered' with the existing base unit/handsets, works perfectly.
This item will not work straight out of the box until the `Registration' procedure is followed; this is certainly the case if you have a KX-TG8063EB system.(probably goes for most other configurations as well).
Your instruction manual will tell you how to do it.
An excellent handset to compliment an excellent phone system.

5.0 out of 5 stars Duronic HV102 - excellent space heater., 17 Dec 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An excellent space heater that warms up very quickly i.e. does exactly as advertised.

The remote control functions are very easy and straightforward to use; all the settings from the manual control panel can be replicated using the remote control. There are 2 heat settings; 1.5kw & 2.5kw. The electronic thermostat switches the heating elements on and off to control the room temperature within a 2 degree-centigrade range. It performs this function exceedingly well as the temperature monitoring is extremely responsive and accurate. Many of these types of heaters struggle with this aspect of room temperature control; however this unit performs admirably.

The actual room temperature is displayed constantly on the control panel. The phrase `room temperature' does need to be qualified a little. The temperature around any convector/radiant heater of this type will always be higher the closer you are to the unit. The room extremities will always be cooler than the area around the heat source; (just like a normal central heating radiator with a manual thermostat). Fan heaters undoubtedly distribute heat around a large room much more evenly than this type of convector heater which is why optimal positioning of this heater is very important if you have a large room. If you need more `even' heat distribution then buy a large fan heater..... if you can put up with the noise that is; I can't.

The `timer' performs perfectly and can be set to switch the unit `OFF' in steps of 1-Hr up to a maximum of 18Hrs; (it is purely a `switch-OFF' timer; there is no `switch-ON' timer function.)

Just a note of caution; on full power this unit radiates lots of heat - sideways (at an almost perfect 90 degrees) and upwards. It radiates no perceptible heat from either end. I found that on full power it needed to be at least 18inches (NB the safety manual states minimum distance all round should be 0.9metres) from any surface at either side. When I first 'tested' mine it was about a foot away from a plaster wall and within approx 20mins the plaster was virtually too hot to touch.

The unit is very well constructed, yet surprisingly light and portable. The wheels on one end make it easily manoeuvrable; even for the less able. It has `safety cut-outs' if the unit overheats or is accidentally knocked over.

I can't say it's the most attractive piece of equipment but then again portable heaters/radiators are not usually renowned for their aesthetic qualities.

Overall, this item performs the job I bought it for (6m x 5m conservatory) and I am very pleased with my purchase.
