4.0 out of 5 stars primitive!, 9 Nov. 2009
This review is from: Soul Of A New Machine (Audio CD)
the debut album for these american bruisers, and not a bad first outing.as my title for this review says 'primitive' this album just has this feel!as 'demanufacture' (see my review for that) was a polished, musically tight and an album really felt if it was played by machines, this record is really a 'first outing' record.dont get me wrong, this is a mighty fine effort but it didnt really strike me in the same way that 'demanufacture' did.it really breeds the same pumelling riffs, crunching guitars and machine gun like drumming but like i say,it really does sound a bit 'primtive' (that word again)!
a great effort though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars actually rather good!, 7 Nov. 2009
This review is from: Divine Intervention (Audio CD)
this album is pretty immense actually!great vocals, even greater guitars and drummming really to die for.pound for pound this album, compared to other 'classics' is up there, including other slayer 'classics'!'killing fields' as an opener, pounding!then it carries it on for the next 30 mins.brilliant!THIS IS SLAYER MAN!
get it!

3.0 out of 5 stars not one of the best!, 7 Nov. 2009
This review is from: Diabolus in Musica (Audio CD)
i am sorry fellow slayer nuts but this does not seem to 'tick all the right boxes' for me in terms of other slayer albums.i have got a feeling i might get slated for this review but,it seems rather 'nu-metal' for me!the opening four track salvo does it for me like the slayer of old but from then on,it goes rather wrong for me.probably fans of linkin park and other bands in their genre, might enjoy!
a credible album i am sure but does not 'yank my crank'!

5.0 out of 5 stars certainly maturing with each season!, 7 Nov. 2009
This review is from: Seasons In The Abyss (Audio CD)
excellent is what i say.well being a slayer fan,i would say that!this is a very diverse album from the kings of heavy metal.diverse as in the songs, the speed shown in tracks such as 'war ensemble' the superb opener and the much slower 'expendable youth'.that is what makes this album an audible treat to listen to.it doesnt lack the 'killer' that is the trademark of a slayer opus and therefore it never fails.
a brilliant album from a brilliant band(did i mention they were brilliant)!

what can i say about this particular opus?fantastic?the best ever?bloody marvellous is how i would describe it!if this was a record to define anything, this would be it.ten tracks, ten pummeling, brutal tracks at that!
classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars a classic!pure and simple., 7 Nov. 2009
This review is from: Demanufacture (Audio CD)
what can i say about this album?a classic pure and simple!just as slayers 'reign in blood' was the groundbreaker for eighties extreme metal, then this defines the nineties.the opening of 'demanufacture' with dino cazares pummeling riffs, burton c bells equally punishing vocals and raymond herreras piledriving drums, sets the tone for the whole album.
i first bought this album fifeteen years ago and really it has never been far away from my stereo in all that time,it is that good!incidentally check out the track 'hunter-killer'.can drums and double bass get any faster?really you will listen to this album and reach for it time after time!a must!
