4.0 out of 5 stars Heroes Reborn 2016 Review, 26 May 2016
Well...where should I begin with 'Heroes Reborn'?. Firstly ill start with my own personal positives: I absolutely loved and was fascinated with the excellent work tim kringe and co put into the 'original' series via the casting, storyline, effects, plot etc... The whole idea of a 'junk-DNA-style' awakening of certain individuals genetics combined with the pro's & cons for each characters abilities, and the way their lives converged through each season to some 'on the edge of your seat-climaxes had me hooked and still does to this day. Fast forward 6yrs later 2016, I was excited to hear via our American cousins on youtube of heroes reborn. Their comments however were a mixed bag, for example: No return of major characters from the previous seasons such as Peter Petrelli-(my favourite character)/Claire Bennett/Sylar/ and Ando. Added to this, doubts were cast as to shorten the series and/or drop it altogether due to budget and falling ratings in the U.S. and viewer complaints as to if this series measures up to the originals. I was intrigued and was also put into doubts, i however went ahead on putlocker and watched the 13 part 5th season. Now for the minor negatives: personally, maybe with it being new, I couldn't bond with the characters the same way I instantly did with say Nathan & Peter, or Hiro & Ando, it just wasn't there. Also, there wasn't one mention of Peter Petrelli who was absolutely key! in the old series. The virtual character was boring, why couldn't Hiro go back in time with HRG before Claire left home and change history? a bit like the Star Trek movies and create an alternate time-line?, also, to have the Haitian turn on noah was disappointing, he was noah's right-hand man and close friend. But the one thing I wouldn't have had in the storyline is to kill off Noah, Mohinder and practically Matt Parkman, I mean why????. Anyway, as an old Heroes fan, in terms of action, and people with abilities, and to reacquaint yourself with Noah/Mohinder and Matt Parkman, oh and Angela Petrelli & Micah, is it worth a continuational-purchase?? yes!!!!....

5.0 out of 5 stars Professionals MKIV Review, 9 Mar. 2016
Anyone!, not just those over a certain age, with half an eye and half a brain will love these perfectly cleaned up classics on Blu-ray, uncut!!!!. Forget the contender releases from 2002, these NETWORK releases are the business!!!!, they've done a bang-on job of cleaning up these without ruining the original feel of the era they were made in using "according to Network" the original 4:3 negatives. for all true fans young and old there's not much more to say. This review has been written prior to its release as of 28/04/16, but I know what to expect having already purchased seasons 1,2,3. Cleaner...clearer...sharper...louder...you won't get releases like this for a long time to come unless ultra-4K comes into play and does a re-release which is doubtful!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Airwolf Blu-Ray Review, 27 Jun. 2015

Finally released on blu-ray, brings back good memories of 8/10 years old. Firstly picture quality is as near as you'd expect to good quality with slight improvements over DVD. As with most old t.v. shows it is stated these were taken from the 4:3 original negatives thus the black lines either side of t.v. which isn't a problem as 'wide zoom' mode setting can be done to achieve full screen with no loss to picture at all. As for sound...mmm? its 2.0 DTS, so as other reviews have stated it can become quite muffled in parts, my answer to that would be turn your t.v. up or upgrade to a sound-bar and/or a BOSE speaker....job done. If i could pick one gripe with this set as a purist is a lot of my lasting impressions as a child-fan of the show was the background/incidental music, for example episode:1 or season:2's HX1 episode, it seems person(s) rather than simply clean up the original music have completely remade it in a studio so personally for myself it doesn't have the same feel or atmosphere that it had originally on the t.v. and re-runs in the 90's, some of the other purists may or may not have noticed this. That being said, don,t let that put you off, it's nigh-on perfect and is a great addition to the old-skool collection. I had my nephew a few years ago download the scores which have also been recently re-released at a daft price on the internet which are a damn near exactly the same as was originally on the old t.v. versions on saturday mornings and better than the remastered scores on the blu-ray....

5.0 out of 5 stars Professionals 2014/2015 Blu-Ray Review, 13 Feb. 2015

This an updated review as of 22/6/15. Firstly thank-you to 3 comments left. After learning aspect-ratio formats 101 for modern tv's i now understand more clearly. For those wanting a full-picture simply select wide-zoom on your options, this does not lose any picture on my sony tv 99.9%....fantastic. Ok, with that cleared up, the picture clarity and sound on these timeless classics is absolutely amazing, you can see every detail. Backgrounds are sharp i.e. brickwork/wallpaper/close-up facial features, lines and stubble....its outstanding to say the least, even down to fluff on Doyle's jacket, it really is that clear...My preferred sound setting is 2.0, for me its louder, clearer and all background sounds are not missing as with oddly enough the true HD sound-5.1 has the odd one missing, i.e. birds tweeting, or the tracker-beep in one episode was absent but fine in 2.0. I would compare the quality to something made only 5yrs ago as oppose to 38yrs ago when i popped out lol. Its like an episode of 'ashes to ashes' or 'life on mars' or a very clean 'minder' episode. To sum up i strongly recommend these blu-ray professionals releases to ant true professionals fan, i saw the re-runs as a little boy early 80's, and the freeview/sky repeats, and the contender releases, throw them away, they are un-watchable once you get used to these beauties, no grain, no crackle, no fade. Lets hope they do the same with 'dempsey and makepeace'....Nice one 'NETWORK'!!!!....

Classic underated film from the old-skool classic duo Ed Lover and Doctor Dr'e-AKA-'Yo MTV Raps', Featuring a classic ensemble of some of my favourate back-in-the-day hip-hop/rap artists...ice t, queen latifah, GURU-Gangstarr, flava flav, to name but a few. The soundtrack which i also have is an absolute must feat: biggie (on an early outing), ice t, guru-gangstarr, pete rock/c.l. smooth, mary j. blige etc. 2 socially inept barbers (Ed Lover 'n' Dre), reluctantly become new york cops, i won't spoil it to save toil on typing, top n bottom of this....if your a fgan of 90's nostalgia/hip-hop/rap, this style of film etc....then sit back and put this on youre shelf (after watching of course) next to your copies of Juice, Menace To Society, Above The Rim, Clockers, Friday....

5.0 out of 5 stars and that is the best way to watch and enjoy these absolute belters, 20 Aug. 2014

First off and foremost, to all true old and new prisoner fans, obviously from a purests point of view the original series from 1979/1986 will never be surpassed, the mold was definately broken, i caught them on the re-runs shown in england a year after australia finished the final series to concentrate on 'Neighbours' which was going into its 2nd season at the old Nunawading studios in victoria/australia. However....i gave the new modern version a try via T.V. last year and seperated my thoughts of the original so as not to compare the two, and that is the best way to watch and enjoy these absolute belters. A more grittier, realistic portrayal of a moderrn-day prison, with characters and names revamped with different personalities for example, (meg-circa-79/86 was empathic, understanding) (meg-circa-2013/14 a more hardened no nonsense type). With the modern series from what i can gather they are condensing 8yrs of original-style story-lines and condensing old and new characters into maybe 3 series depending how well they take off, firstly in our ozzy cousins home-land then world-wide, which the first series most definitely has. I suggest any prisoner fan give these a whirl, you won't be disappointed, and although in comparrison with the old set, the new one appears smaller and more cramped with less locations, this may change as the series expands. Remember, even though i myself arn't a fan of change, in this instance 'with time comes change' is a good approach for grity T.V. viewing here. Check out youtube to see some of the original cast checking out the new set, the 2 bea smiths chatting together comparing notes, checking out the new laundry etc, and basically passing the batton onto the 'new era', the original 'Mrs Davidson' looks and sounds exactly the same....amazing....enjoy....

5.0 out of 5 stars ... other hiphop/rap artists since his first album back in good old 95, 20 Aug. 2014
Iv'e listened to AZ as well as many other hiphop/rap artists since his first album back in good old 95. And as many have said vias youtube video comments, AZ is a truly underated artist who should and already is in my opinion 'up there' with the best in the history books and to the present day (in his case) with the likes of 'kool g-rap', Nas, Mobb Deep, Biggie, Gang Starr, Ultramagnetic etc, and west-coast gold such as 2pac, Ice T, Cube, Domino, etc. While AZ's 'Doe Or Die' is an absolute 'Mould Breaker', his earlier follow-ups such as 'Pieces Of a Man' runs a joint or really close 2nd in terms of catchy samples, beats, and lyrical content. 3rd place up there would definately be a choice between 'Memphis Sessions' and 'The Format'. If you liked any of these as a true AZ fan, then you'llk enjoy AZ*AWOL-version-5.1....
