3.0 out of 5 stars A Good Selection...but could be improved, 28 Dec. 2004
This is a good selection of Van Halen's music videos but I would have liked to see more stuff prior to '1984' here. Remember a DVD can contain loads of video, so why not fill it up with every music video they did? Don't get me wrong, all the gems are here ;'Jump','Panama','Hot For Teacher', 'Poundcake', 'Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do)', but where is 'Jamie's Cryin','You Really Got Me', 'Pretty Woman', 'Feels So Good', 'Top Of The World', 'Amsterdam' (this may have been cut because of the drug related lyrics) and 'Fire In The Hole'? If my knowledge serves me correctly then including these would complete the collection. Surely it wouldn't have been too difficult to have included them?
Overall, a good collection, but more could have been included!

5.0 out of 5 stars Extreme violence and stealth: 'nuff said, 17 Jan. 2004
This review is from: Manhunt (PS2) (Video Game)
You sometimes hear of games that contain "strong violence", but no game have I played so far comes close to the intensity of violence as Manhunt. This has been 18 rated for a reason!
You play as man named James Cash who was on death row and had his death faked. He then wakes up in a room and finds that he has been saved. But there's a hitch. In order to stay alive, Cash has been ordered to go out and kill.
To make things more life like, the first weapon you start off with is a plastic bag. Over time you acquire more vicious weapons and that's when things start to get gory. For example the machete. Creep up behind a gang member, tap the execute button and Cash will stab him in the back and hack his head off, which you can then use to distract future victims. Gross. It's especially good when you lure a gang member by tapping on the wall. Then hide in a shadow where they are unable to see you, wait until they turn around away from you, then pounce. Sorted.
Violence isn't the only good aspect to the game. The control system is similar to that of the Grand Theft Auto games but it seems much more refined and easier to use.
The graphics are a bit GTA like but then the game is developed by the same company, Rockstar. But personally I think that the graphics are more polished and grasp the chilling feel to the game.
The sound is a key part to the atmosphere and I think the music and sound effects fit perfectly to game. For example the spluttering and gasping during executions and change in music when a gang member has suspected something. It's a bit like listening to a horror movie. Also, for added realism, you can use the SOCOM headset to listen to the 'boss' and lure gang members by shouting/whistling into the mic.
Having said all this, the game is a little linear and the story line is fairly weak. It can also be very difficult in places which may annoy some people. Overall though, these are my only complaints.
My advice is, if you want a challenging, violent, and satisfying game, then get this. It may be linear but it lasts for ages with lots to unlock.

2.0 out of 5 stars OK.....don't understand any of the hype, 10 Jan. 2004
This review is from: Nevermind (Audio CD)
The album's 'OK' and it'll pass 45 minutes or however long it is.(I wouldn't know because I couldn't stand listening to it!)
The album starts off with 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' which is probably to only track that's decent on thw album. The vocals sound streched alot of the time throught the album compared to good rock vocals.
Firstly, Kurt Cobain is NOT a legend-he can't sing, and he sure ain't proficient in guitar. Secondly, Nirvana destroyed 'fun' rock. By fun I mean bands which enjoy themselves in making music (for example 'The Darkness'). Not troubled, unenthusiastic rubbish like Nirvana. Sorry but they ruined Rock for everyone. :(
I hope you Hard Rock fans out there agree with me.

GTA3>A Vice City have finally been released on the Xbox...over a year since us PS2 owners got our mits on it. The PS2 version is excellent and this is obviously going to be more 'polished' on the graphics front. But what's so much better? The slightly better graphics? Well it ought to be since it's 3 times more powerful. The ability to customise your own soundtrack? So what? The soundtrack on the original PS2 version was owesome. Anyway.
You play as Tommy Vercetti who has just got out of jail and is looking for a job. You do a variety of missions. Some which have no connection to the main storyline missions (for example the telephone missions). There are also side missions such as 'Vigilante' in which you chase after criminals in a police car or military vehicles (not mentioning specific names). Steal cars, motorbikes, and twist 'n go's (not mopeds as some people call them). Fly helicopters, drive boats. The game is packed!
Obviously Xbox owners will be jumping for joy as two of the games that made PS2 are coming to Xbox. I doubt very much if the Final Fantasy range will come to Xbox and Project Gotham 2 will not stand up to the likes of Gran Turismo 4. Also, online gaming is cheaper on PS2. No monthly fees apart from a broadband subscription.
So please PLEASE stop slagging off the PS2 as has done absolutely nothing gave you Xbox owners polished and refined versions GTA3&Vice City in a double pack! Lastly, one question. If the Xbox is so much better than Playstation 2, then why haven't they made many good games? And don't say HALO!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Playstation 2 is without a doubt the best console-buy It, 24 Dec. 2003
I got Playstation 2 when it first came out and I was very impressed. It's capability to play PSone games, DVD player, CD player, 5.1 Dolby Surround or DTS Digital Surround. I first played Timesplitters and I was very impressed with the quality of the game. I thought that even though this game was great, the PS2 was only in early stages of it's life and huge improvements to games would take place over the years. For example take Ridge Racer and Ridge racer Type 4 on the PSone and the differences in gameplay and graphics between the early days and the later releases and you'll realize what i'm talking about.
For a over a year my PS2 worked fine until the laser started playing up and it displayed 'disk read error'. I got it repaired but within mounths it was playing up again. At this point the Satin Silver PS2 was out, so I decided to have a look. Not only was it in silver but it also had a built-in IR reciever, played DVD-/+R, DVD-/+RW discs and a quieter fan for only £10 more than the older model. I bought one and the difference was very noticeable. So my advice is, if you haven't got a Playstation 2 yet, buy this new model. Sure it's £10 more, but it's got at least £10 more technoology on it. And now with a HUGE software library and a set of great games to come out in the future, the PS2 is easily the best console out there.

Verified Purchase(What is this?)
When I first knew about a live Van Halen concert on video I knew that I had to get it, and I wasn't disappointed. The concert is filmed on the 5150 tour and therefore he playlist is mainly tracks from the 5150 album, but there are still a few classics such as 'Ain't Talkin 'Bout Love' and 'Panama'.
The show kicks off with 'There's Only One Way To Rock' from one of Sammy Hagar's solo album's but only this time with Eddie Van Halen's guitar wizardry. 'Summer Nights' is proceeded by 'Get Up' in which Alex Van Halen plays an ultra fast double bass drum technique. As a experienced drummer, I can tell you that this is no mean feat. The band then rip through "5150" and Panama before bassist Michael Anthony performs a truly crazy Bass Solo. 'Panama' is followed by 'Love Walks In' in which Eddie plays keys live on stage and Sammy Hagar does well in taking over on guitar. Eddie performs his trademark Guitar Solo which is then followed by 'I Can't Drive 55', 'Ain't 'Talkin 'Bout Love', 'Why Can't This Be Love' and finally 'Rock And Roll'.
Not only is the playlist and the musicianship good, but the fooling about on stage adds to the experience to make a excellent concert. I highly recommend this to anybody who is in the slightest bit of a Van Halen fan. You'll love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, but maybe a little sort lived, 16 Nov. 2003
Gran Turismo Concept is more of dumbed down version of GT3, in the sense that it has fewer cars, tracks and no Gran Turismo mode. But on the whole it is a fairly decent game. Racers will have the selection of 10 tracks to race on and choice of 100 cars which include the new Ford GT, Volkswagen W12 and the Dodge Viper GTS-R Concept.
However, Gran Turismo veterans will find the challenges pretty easy and may find that there's not enough depth. On the
plus side, novices to series are bound to find this a worthy challenge.
My advice is, if you're a petrol head and dont mind a shorter-depth Gran Turismo, or if you're new to the series then buy this. If you prefer a racing game with a more depth, then look elsewhere.
