This had been recommended to me by my brother knowing my interest in true life exploration accounts. The story of Mallory had fascinated since I saw the magazine article describing the finding of his (spoiler alert) body in 1999. This is an unusual book being a fictionalised account of Mallory's life. It is a pleasure to read and like all good Jeffery Archer moves on a pace and is very well written. I highly recommend.

On The Map: Why the world looks the way it does

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating, easy read, 7 Oct. 2015

A good summary of the maps that have defined the human race from ancient times right through to the future. Very well written in an easy read style. A book, despite its content, can be easily picked up at any point. Well worth a read.
I personally would have liked a chapter on projections and how we came to view the world as we do. This is touched on throughout the book but a dedicated chapter (sub-chapter) with schematics to illustrate the point would have been very useful.

The Sins of the Father (Clifton Chronicles Book 2)
The Sins of the Father (Clifton Chronicles Book 2)

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Archer, 22 Mar. 2015

Rip roaring pace. Many threads coming together. Easy read bringing the Clifton Saga on through WW2. A few plot contrivances which are easily excused as they keep the story moving on apace. If you've ever enjoyed a Jeffery Archer novel you won't be disappointed with this one

Pleased to buy a good looking USB hub, that didn't blow my motherboard. The illuminated Apple logo is eye catching.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Read, 10 Mar. 2014

Recommended by a golf nut friend. He said he had never laughed so much reading a book. Eventually got round to reading it (on my new Kindle - which I also love - why has it taken me so long) and I too laughed out loud. The language is sometimes a bit 'fruity' and certainly not one for the easily offended. Much of it is written in the Celtic vernacular - which might excuse it to some extent. Good story, with each thread nicely interwoven, the title makes sense in the end!!
I would certainly recommend this if you like golf or Scottish / Celtic swearing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Impressive, 26 Sept. 2013

Bought this for the passageway at the side of the garage. Always dark as no street lights near us and it was always a hassle getting a torch to take the bins out. This is just brilliant. There is a faint light on in darkness and once the PIR detects you you are dazzled by the very bright light which illuminates a very wide area. It is very easy to install and is solar powered - what more can I say. I'm likely to buy another for the other side of the house.

Eldest was doing a pre-test for school. This book proved very useful as a quick way of doing some Verbal Reasoning (almost like a puzzle book you'd buy at the airport - at least that what we told him!)

This is a Leatherman copy. It has all the tools you would expect in such a multi-tool. This version may be useful if you go bouldering in Utah (127 hours)!
