Shropshire Murders (Sutton True Crime History)
Shropshire Murders (Sutton True Crime History)
Price: 1.79

3.0 out of 5 stars Of interest if you have links to Shropshire also contains views of Old Shopshire, 15 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Interesting to read if you are researching ancestors in Shropshire. Contained within its pages are some of the grisly murders committed in that County in the last two centuries, researched well from court documents and newspapers of the day. A bonus is the collection of old postcards depicting Old Shropshire.

Vince an SPD cop is haunted by the terrible sights he's witnessed and becomes too involved in this latest case and forced to take leave. His gut feeling pushes him to follow his instincts. An utterly compelling read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hidden in here is the basis of a good story, 15 Dec 2013
This copy of the Closet was a gift from the author with a request for an honest review. The author writes descriptively but actually overworks the prose; unfortunately by so doing neglects to put any substance on the bones of the plot. However hidden in there is some talent and the basis of a good story.

A Sea Of Dead
A Sea Of Dead
Price: 3.12

3.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating love story, 15 Dec 2013
This review is from: A Sea Of Dead (Kindle Edition)
A love story; David injured and disfigured during WW1 is in one of the many convalescent homes set up to rehabilitate soldiers. Here he meets Marlin one of the volunteers caring for him, he develops an inevitable obsession and fascination with her. A beautifully written, descriptive short piece, one disappointment is the too obtuse finale.

3.0 out of 5 stars An amusing book with interesting characters, 13 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Liddy Marble is an amusing parody on Agatha Christie's Miss Marple. It is a somewhat naively written crime investigation centred on Ms Marble as an unsophisticated amateur detective/psychological investigator, however it was very funny in parts; a little light relief with some interesting characters. I certainly enjoyed the read. A kind gift from the author.

An involved and disjointed crime investigation; unfortunately the author while crafting an interesting plot created key characters lacking in substance.

Once you've read and digested the tips, the jargon and the bluffs, you have the rudiments to demonstrate this knowledge.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unusual and fascinating, 28 Oct 2013
This review is from: The Room Beyond (Kindle Edition)
Unusual and fascinating novel, a missing house, a mysterious family with secrets, presented to the reader in two timelines, Victorian and present day. The author illustrates her characters vividly and convincingly; a dramatic book, imaginative, dark and engrossing.

The Bluffer's Guide to Surfing (The Bluffer's Guides)

4.0 out of 5 stars Become an insider in this joyous sport, 26 Oct 2013
A brilliant little book; if you are not already a surf aficionado you will be once you've read this. It doesn't matter if you are new to the sport or are in fact a skilled partaker, this is a book to surprise and enjoy. The author gives us some little known surfing facts to regale fellow surfers with and in so doing lists the do and don'ts of becoming an insider in this joyous sport. A gift from the publisher.
