This is a voltage regulator, not a UPS. The description is misleading and annoying if you're come across this while looking around different options. see:

What a neat bit of kit. Looks good, feels solid to the hold, does what I wanted it for.

It's already been on a week's camping trip up the lake district and held enough to recharge an iphone three times whilst only loosing about 1/3-1/2 of the charge.

The built it torch is a great touch.

2.0 out of 5 stars looks nice but fails at it's most basic, 20 July 2013
It does look nice, blue light, fast boil but...

The spout is round and flat which means there is no directionality, as a result the water sort of floods out without any means of controlling where it's going to end up.

In addition the lid just pops open while boiling.

Who knew you could get a it so wrong, I've never had any problems before with something as simple as a kettle.

Arctic Cooling Breeze Mobile USB Fan

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I needed, 22 Jan 2013

This fan's seriously quiet.

And stuck on the keyboard (either by using double sided tape or on the keyboard's USB port if you have one) it's at a perfect distance to keep me cooled down without making my eyes water.

Spring Recipes: A Problem-Solution Approach, 2nd Edition (Expert's Voice in Open Source)
Spring Recipes: A Problem-Solution Approach, 2nd Edition (Expert's Voice in Open Source)
by Gary Mak
Edition: Paperback

3.0 out of 5 stars An adequate reference, 1 Oct 2012

This is a very good reference to generic Spring functionality. And it's certainly very useful on the recipe side.

Although it has been revised to cover Spring 3, the authors have simply tacked a few extra paragraphs to show additional syntax.

The same topics are covered multiple times in what clearly is Spring 2 and Spring 3, so you go through an example and you think "I got that", the following page then starts with "but that's the old way of doing it, do it like this now.

There are endless simple grammatical and spelling errors, for example the security sections describe some requirement where "a prefix must be appended". Wrong, a prefix goes at the start, appending something implies it goes at the end. This is just irritating not actually an issue but it's indicative of the quality of the writing.

The sample code is mostly Spring 2 so most of the XSDs will fail if you try to use the code directly with Spring 3. There are also lots of deprecated method calls in the examples.

All in all a useful book, and a good introduction to spring projects in a real environment in as much as you have to tweak the code and libraries quite a bit to get the code to work.

2.0 out of 5 stars Quite dull, not much information., 24 Oct 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These are just a serious of opinions bound together in a book. There is no specific topic (which is fine as they are all personal opinions) or overall or overall direction. You'd be better off reading "The Pragmatic Programmer", that *does* include things every programmer should know and it's fun to read.

Head First Design Patterns
Head First Design Patterns
by Eric Freeman
Edition: Paperback
Price: £30.90

5.0 out of 5 stars good introduction to design patterns, 17 Jun 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
the patterns are discussed in an easy to follow way, and like the cover says it sinks in pretty easily. the authors do labour on points a bit too long, but that's probably why the information is easy to digest and it's purely a personal opinion. i'm going to follow it with fowler's "patterns of enterprise application architecture"

This review is from: Bellman And True [DVD] (DVD)
This was an excellent film when first shown and it's still great.

I remember seeing it in the cinema and later on on TV, the TV version had a few extra scenes (it was a two-parter). This is the Cinema feature version.

Loved watching it again recently.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect introduction to computing mathematics., 15 Nov 2010

As the sample code is in BASIC (procedural) it makes it extremely easy to port the examples to any other language.

Would definitely recomend it to anyone looking for an easy introduction to the subject.
