3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite as described, 22 Feb 2012
I bought these insoles on the assumption that 'Rigid' meant just that and that they werent flexible anywhere.

I have bone spurs on the outside of my toes and have only 10% of the movement that I should have in my toes. Bending my toes causes severe pain (due to the bone spurs touching) and my specialist advised trying 'Rocker' soled type footwear to limit this bending of the toes and ultimately the pain I get). As I have other shoes that I wanted to wear I thought that these insoles would help stop (or limit) the flexing of the soles

Unfortunately when they came I found that they do actually flex in the toe area (as most insoles do) but I didnt want flex there-I needed them to be rigid, just as described, which they werent.

Although they were not exactly what I wanted, I decided not to return them as the arch support felt good and I would be able to make use of them as I do actually need arch support in my footwear due to my other foot problems.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well but.............., 22 Feb 2012
I bought 3 different sized sets of these for dogwalking etc for myself, my partner and my elderly neighbour. I checked the sizing very carefully before I ordered as we all have different sized feet.

In use they definitely do the trick-not a single slip, even when walking on thick ice and compacted snow with a layer of ice on top. Could walk with confidence on all surfaces.
The only snag is they are really hard to get on. My neighbour (admittedly he is in his early 70's) couldnt get them on at all, I had to put them on for him but they werent easy for me either.
Once on though they are very secure and I am totally confident that they wouldnt come off.

My partner has a pair of the more commonly seen studded types which are supplied by work. These go on far easier than the Yak Trax but then he says that they dont stay on very well. Also he finds that the studs also pull out or break.

The Yak Trax are certainly the superior item if you can get them on your boots in the first place!

Great new version of a classic. Though Jeff Bridges mumbles so much he needs subtitles at times!
I bought this as a pressie for my mum as she lives in Turkey and is a fan of the John Wayne version as I am. She will love it!

Had some of these for years but needed some new ones. Great comfort for certain situations......riding my motorbike in leathers-ha ha! Thongs are a no-no and all other varieties (hipsters, boy pants etc) are crap. Even M & S high legs have seams so thick they are painful on the hips and end up a waste of money! Buy these and cut the crap!

Great service from Amazon retailer too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, 14 July 2011
Great purchase.
I needed to get something with an in-built arch support as I cant wear footwear without any support for my feet. After a very warm week in Turkey having to wear trainers (with socks-ooh sweaty!) when all around were in flip-flops I decided to do some research when I got home.
These fit the bill as the contoured footbed supports my knackered feet and dont cause me pain within half an hour which is what happens when wearing un-supportive footwear.
No more hot and sweaty feet for me as these do the trick and I can let my tootsies feel some air!

I did try some on first in a local shop (they only had toe-post versions though and I am not keen on those) and found that you do need a size smaller than usual.

Product came really quickly-in time for holiday which was a surprise as I only ordered it Wednesday Morning and we were flying Friday (came Thursday!).
WE got a mozzie in the hotel room the first night so used it then. It certainly kept the mozzie away but the formula got on my fellas chest (he has mild asthma) and he darent use it again. We left it with my mum who lives in Turkey so she could use it.
