5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably good phone for the money, 5 July 2016
If you are looking for a premium smartphone at a bargain price look no further than this awesome phone. For the price (I bought mine directly from the Oneplus web site within a minute of it being released) it is unbelievable. The aluminium body is exquisite and the display, despite being "only" 1080p is really good and proof that 2K is not really necessary. I examined the display with a powerful magnifying glass alongside that of the S7 Edge and although the latter is marginally sharper at this magnification, it's very slight. Maybe my eyesight isn't that good but really there is no need to hesitate over purchasing this because of the display. What is excellent about the 5.5" screen is that it doesn't produce a monster of a phone, as the side bezels are very narrow and, something not often mentioned in reviews, is that you can use the entire screen area, as the back, home and recent apps buttons can be removed in the settings and controlled by capacitative buttons below the screen area. This means that the screen has more, yes more, usable space than that of the Nexus 5P, despite the latter having a 5.7" screen and being noticeably heavier and bulkier.

The battery life is also surprisingly good, perhaps because of that 1080p screen, and although it is "only" 3,000 mAh I find I get a full day, despite being a very heavy user. In any case if you do run out of juice it can be charged extremely quickly using the Dash charger. In fact it is unnecessary to charge the phone overnight because of this charger. It really is incredibly fast.

Other fine features are:
the camera (again perhaps not quite as good as the S7 Edge but there is not a lot in it);
the fingerprint reader (better than that of the S7 Edge, as you can simultaneously wake the phone with it);
the Oxygen OS (again better than the Touchwiz of the S7 Edge, as it is basically vanilla Android but with a few genuinely useful customisation features and controls, e.g double tapping the screen to wake the device up, and almost devoid of bloatware);
the 6 Gb of RAM - possibly over the top but nice to have
the performance - well up there with the best - no lags at all and it runs cool
the respectable internal memory of 64Gb - more than enough for most purposes, especially if you use Google Drive or another cloud service for storing music and photos;
the very useful hardware control button for muting the phone or setting it for priority notifications only;
USB-C port;
the thinness and light weight of the phone

Given the above and its price it would be nitpicking to point out any shortcomings but some may find the lack of an SD slot annoying and perhaps more significantly the lack of any waterproofing, but that also applies to the iPhone 6s Plus which is well over twice the price!

To summarise, go forth and buy it!

Withings Pulse Ox Activity, Sleep, Heart Rate and SPO2 Tracker for iOS and Android - Black
Price: £79.95

3.0 out of 5 stars Almost to be recommended, 26 Jun. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very good functionality, with accurate recording of sleep, steps and elevation (in feet not floors!). The battery life is also good and the way the data is displayed is handy too, especially as the previous days' data can be reviewed. The blood oxygen / pulse reading feature is pretty neat too. The reason for only giving it three stars is that the clip is truly dreadful, being insecure and poorly designed so that after a few weeks the rubber will be torn away by the underlying metal. The wrist strap is a lot better though but wearing the thing on the wrist will make the step count less accurate and it looks a bit odd. Also unforgivable in an activity tracker is that it is not in the slightest bit water resistant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful practical strap, 20 Jun. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is for the Magnetic Milanese Loop. I love this design of strap and this is a particularly good example. I love the magnetic clasp which means it can be adjusted to the exact length needed without fiddling with removal of links or repositioning of the clasp. It is extremely comfortable and looks and feels very classy. As well as the strap you get four quick release pins, also apparently of a high build quality, which makes it dead easy to attach the strap to your watch. I don't understand why it is described is being for the Huawei watch, as it appears to be equally suitable for any watch with 18mm strap lugs. I use mine with a Withings Activite Steel watch which it fits perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic fitness gadget, 10 Jun. 2016
I've had this for about six months, so in a good position to attest to its long term usability. Quite simply this is the best fitness watch there is, or at least it is difficult to see how it could be improved, although Garmin regularly pushes through updates that don't seem to make much difference. The emphasis is very much on activities, whether it be walking, hiking, running, swimming, triathlon and any number of others. I tend to use it only for walking, hiking, swimming and cycling, non competitively I might add. For these activities it really is first class, as it includes all the navigational tools you could possibly want: altimeter, compass, GPS (and/or Glonass) tracking, heart rate monitoring (with an external chest strap), all of which seem to be extremely accurate, though you need to calibrate the altimeter before setting off. There is also the possibility of downloading gpx route files, which can then be followed very easily (even though there is no mapping software of any kind). After completing the activity everything is seamlessly uploaded to the Garmin Connect website whence it can be shared with other apps, in particular Strava. From the aesthetic point of view this is a big and I mean big watch but for all that it looks pretty cool and is very comfortable to wear. You might not want to sleep with it on though! The display is good (always on) but some watch faces look slightly washed out. Of course when outside the display becomes better as it is a transflective one. The battery life is superb, lasting at least a week, even with regular use of the GPS. On the subject of GPS there have been complaints about its inaccuracy. However, this seems to be a problem only when "smart" GPS tracking is used. I changed this option to every second since when it has been spot on.
In addition there are some smart watch features but they are a bit basic, being alerting one to phone calls, notifications, music controls, emails etc though with little scope for interacting with them as you can on a dedicated smartwatch such as the excellent Pebble. Still they are useful when you are out exercising and it would be a nuisance to take one's phone.
It also doubles as a reasonable activity tracker, monitoring steps, floors, calories, distance and sleep, though if you really into that sort of thing it would probably be better to use a dedicated fitness tracker, preferably not a wrist based one. My favourite is the Withings Pulse, which does an excellent job of this sort of thing.
There really aren't any major negatives hence I have no hesitation in awarding it five stars. Incidentally, if you are considering the much more expensive HR version I would advise against it on the basis that wrist based HR monitors always seem to be incredibly inaccurate. It does have a sapphire crystal display but that seems over the top, as the mineral glass on my Fenix 3 is showing no signs of even minor damage after many months of heavy use. The cheaper price for this means that it is the one to go for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty perfect pins, 26 May 2016

Very high quality pins as described. Work perfectly with watch straps with 20mm bands provided that they are designed to accept them. They certainly work perfectly with the excellent Hoco S2 smart watch band available on Amazon which I have reviewed separately.

4.0 out of 5 stars Small beauty, 26 May 2016

I have owned and used every Pebble watch. This one is arguably the best, certainly in terms of its aesthetics, as it looks great and is extremely light and unobtrusive. Coming from a Pebble Time Steel, with its amazing battery life and waterproofing, I was a bit nervous about the battery life being poor and it being merely splashproof. In practice these are not a great problem, certainly as far as the battery life is concerned, as it charges up incredibly quickly. I tend to do it daily with the battery down to around 50% and it literally takes only about 15 minutes. With other smart watches with a similar battery life recharging is a much more lengthy operation and thus a real nuisance on a daily basis. You still have the always on display and almost all the functionality of the Pebble Time Steel but there are a few apps which have not been optimised for the round display, e.g Netatmo and even Pebble's own timer and stopwatch apps, for which there are fortunately excellent third party alternatives. It makes a pretty good activity tracker, although the sleep tracking is a bit hit and miss as with other Pebble watches.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good activity tracker but poor at monitoring sleep, 21 May 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I really like this tracker. It has some good features, especially the HRM which is remarkably accurate for a wrist based sensor, both when resting and on the move. The steps counting seems very accurate too. Remarkably, despite there being no GPS sensor, it is also surprisingly accurate when tracking a run. I tested this by walking to work and comparing it to Strava on my phone which does of course use the GPS. They both gave the same distance of 1.6 miles.

The only thing I dislike - and this is common to all Garmin devices as it is to do with the Connect software - is the way it tracks sleep. In the software you specify your hours of sleep and then within that time frame if you don't move it assumes that you are asleep, whereas you might be relaxing in a bath or reading a book in bed. The result is that you get some ridiculously exaggerated sleep totals, although you can see from the movement graph that the tracker itself is recording movement correctly. It would be far better if you could start the and stop the sleep period manually.

Other good features are the clear, always on monochrome display and that it is waterproof, as opposed to merely water resistant, which is unusual in a tracker. Also good is the battery life which is 4 - 5 days despite the HRM being constantly in use.

The tracker also has certain smartwatch features, i.e shows alarms, notifications, incoming calls, weather etc, though I find them slightly difficult to interact with.

On the negative side, although comfortable to wear, the tracker is quite bulky, so won't fit under a short sleeve easily, and it is of a rather utilitarian appearance.

I have tried out numerous tracking devices - Jawbone, Fitbit, Activite, Pulse etc and this is the best of the bunch. I would thoroughly recommend it, provided that you are not too bothered about tracking sleep (in which case look at the Jawbone or Withings offerings). There is also a GPS version coming out soon which would make activity tracking even better but possibly reduce battery life and increase cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful strap, 21 May 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a lovely watch band which goes really well with my Samsung Gear S2 Classic. Unlike the only other reviewer (as I write), I did not get any pins with the strap and could not reuse the quick release pins of the Samsung strap. That said it was easy enough to fit it with standard 20mm pins which are cheap and once in place you will probably never want to release it. The mesh material is lovely and is fine enough that you can almost see through. Nevertheless it seems very strong and it looks fantastic. The killer feature though has to be the magnetic clasp, which is ultra-secure and means that you have no issues fitting the band to your wrist. It is infinitely variable in length, which makes it great for the Samsung as for the heart rate sensor to work properly the strap needs to be quite tight. You can then easily release the band slightly when you don't need the heart rate monitor function. Also I find the heart rate monitor to be much more accurate with this strap.

4.0 out of 5 stars Real leather!, 19 May 2016

Good value case which really does seem to be made of real leather. That said it doesn't protect the top of the phone well as there is no lip on the case protruding above the level of the screen, so you won't get any protection if the phone drops on the screen side. The card slots are useful.
