5.0 out of 5 stars Love 2, 11 Jan. 2010
This review is from: Love 2 (Audio CD)
Contrary to the majority, I believe this is Air's best album. The flow of the album feels natural whilst still encorporating a lot of variety. Great for listening to in one go. This is an album that is consistently good from start to finish. Tropical Disease is a personal favourite of mine.

Whilst i can't comment on the emotional impact of this album, having rarely felt particulary moved by music in general, I can say that listening to this usually leaves me in a good mood.

5.0 out of 5 stars very cute and funny, 8 May 2004
I really enjoyed this. Alot of people had just discarded this one because of it's 'cutesy' look but when i looked at the back and saw the animation i bought it straight away. The animation is so crisp and smooth it's amazing. you could compare it to a fine tuned Tenchi.
The story may be a little confusing to some if you have not read the manga or wathced the series - 'oh my goddess'. I think at times it tries to fill you in however. The story centres around Beldandi a goddess who is sworn to grant the wish of her client. Her client incidentally wished for her to stay with him and she falls in love. In this installment a strange man appears and kidnaps Beldandi and the story starts from here.
Again the animation is stunning, The length of the dvd is quite impressive and the light hearted comedy is great. The extras on the disc are really good too - the best of which being an episode of the mini goddess series, which my girlfriend has the full series and is AMAZING and funny beyond belief.
all in all then a great Dvd despite it's high price tag and one that will warm your heart. aw!

3.0 out of 5 stars not bad, 8 May 2004
This review is from: Amon Saga [2000] [DVD] (DVD)
i didn't really know what to expect from this one but let's say that i was moderately suprised. For starters it's a good length. The actual story is involving and deep and is seen through to it's satisfied end.
The story revolves around the main character; Amon. Who is seeking revenge for his dead mother but meets a princess along the way who falls in love with him. A competition is held for people to become the evil emporer's guards and Amon manages to sneak in. From which point the film takes an Enter the dragon approach with Amon stealthing around.
The animation isn't great and looks kinda dated. it makes you feel distant from the characters at times but this is excused by the characters all in all being likeable. As with all manga collection titles - you can't have japanese language and the extras are pretty rubbish.(just trailers)
So then, comedy and quite good action sequences combined with a fantasy edge make up for the shortcomings of this dvd.

4.0 out of 5 stars really good for the collection series, 7 May 2004
For a film that is based totaly on Martial arts, this anime does not dissapoint. The fight seens are great and i am sure that alot of you will pick out major similarities from the Dragonball series. When he's powered up he looks just like Broly!
this is the tale of the mysterious fighter Red Hawk. It is a story of redemption and revenge as he aims to pay back his brother's killers. This is light hearted however and at times the happy go lucky main character will have reminissing of characters like Goku.
The only weakness of this has to be the animation and although it isn't everything it does fall short of certain titles yet not in comparison to the other collection titles. It's funny, the fight scenes are pretty good and it's fairly long - What more do you want for a tenner?

5.0 out of 5 stars Suprising, 7 May 2004
This review is from: Tokyo Revelation [DVD] (DVD)
Having just watched One of the other new manga collection - Armaggedon(awful) i didn't exactly have high hopes for this one. Let's face it; their are some real stinkers in the collection but at the same time some rare gems. Ray Earth for example and Dark myth having a great atmosphere and story.
This was a pleasant suprise. The introduction is pretty good and the bad guy comes off as really cool and demented. Of course then you find out he's gay but that's ok. The demons are really cool and what more could you want than a guy fighting Cerberus.
the charaters are appealing and deeper then they seem and the end fight seen is Dragonball Z esque. I'm sure they should have copyright on blonde spiky hair. lol! My only complain with this is that it could have been longer. It's just over too quick when they could have made an entire series out of the realationships of the characters and the gradual rise of the demons. Anyway this collection one of my personal favorite and a great alternative to someone who can't handle Urotsukidoji.

5.0 out of 5 stars enjoyable in every way, 7 May 2004
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I had no expectations for this anime at all. I know that Shirow is supposedly a master yet i was underwhelmed by Ghost in the shell. Maybe it was the huge expectations i had for it but whatever it was - I didn't enjoy it and that's what really matters right? Not that the story tries to confuse you as much as possible.
This is much lighter despite being set in a similar kind of World. I love the animation on this, it's not computer enhanced but it has a wholesome feel that ghost in the shell lacked. The story isn't overly complex; there are police in tanks and there are bad guys. The bad guys try to make profits on illegal weapons while the police clan up the mess it leaves.
Likeable characters and slapstick humour makes for an anime that you can lay back and enjoy. the animation on the actual tanks is really cool too. The other thing i should mention is the value - 3hours for 15 quid, that's pretty good. what's more is you get a poster with it too! Now that is a rareity for Manga who usually just give yuo the rubbish 'out to own' list.
all in all then, worth buying and watch out for the theif female twins making an appearance in Ghost in the Shell.

4.0 out of 5 stars good story bad ending, 7 May 2004
I did really enjoy this when i first saw it but believe other guy is right in saying that in no way should you try to relate this to ninja scroll. In it's own right though it is an interesting story. A Christian leader given the choice to sacrifice in the name of good or retaliate in the name of evil with one of the other characters playing as temptation.
The action sequences are great despite being a little gorey for some viewers. (If you don't mind children being beheaded you should be ok.) The usual flying around and extravagant fighting styles ensue.
As has been commented on before; I too am waiting for a sequel as the ending to this can't really be named as such. It would be a shame for a character and a series with so much promise to be left so dissapointingly. however i recommend this highly and believe you too will be begging for a sequel shortly after watching.

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliANT! lol, 7 Jan. 2004
This review is from: Truant (Audio CD)
There really isn't much that needs saying about this CD. It's Alien Ant Farm. It's at time quirky, at times cheesy and at other times provides you heavy anthems that you will never forget. If you own ANThology you will know that that album was similar but i think that truANT follows much more after the songs like Wish. What more can i say, it's alien ant farm - It's a masterpiece.

5.0 out of 5 stars let's all laugh at sex, 7 Jan. 2004
This review is from: Colorful [2003] [DVD] (DVD)
That's basically what this film is all about; Sex. I am not saying this is a bad thing. By all means, this film is brilliantly insane and what most animes should at times aspire to be. ADV, despite making great serious films like Samurai X and Spriggan have a brilliant talent for comedy. The animation on facial expressions is hilarious and the lack of shame from ADV at times leaves you with your mouth wide open. At times though it is a little too much and i beleive that if some of the humour in this DVD was put into other animations which are a little more serious you would laugh significantly harder.
The fact of the matter is that you are not buying this DVD for an epic animated adventure and that is exactly what you don't get. The story is non existent apart from the totaly bizarre end episode. The funny thing is that this film deals with serious issues like teacher-student realtioships and even boarders rape but you won't be able to stop laughing, i guarentee it.
Well done ADV for having some balls and then for showing us how they work.
p.s - i am proud to own this.

1.0 out of 5 stars oh my god it's horrible!, 21 Nov. 2003
I love Dragonball Z as much as one person can love anything but this just aint dragonball z. It's bad enough that the movies haven't come out here yet and that the series its around 10 years behing japan and america but now we get this monstrousity. What are toonami thinking? Just get the rights for the american ones you fools! Goku sounds like captain America, krillen sounds like a four year old and bulma like louis lane. It really is awful! I got most of my movies from anime shops which import them and if i were you i would do the same as me. I thank toonami for introducing me to dbz but i am not backing them on this.
Oh yeah! you would have thought that toonami know the difference between a kamehameha and a spirit bomb but no! At the end they get the spirit bomb mixed with the kamehameha. What a joke!
