Although a thinnish plot it was developed well and the acting was outstanding with Tom Courtenay, Billy Connelly & Pauline Collins exceptionally so.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too abridged, 7 Jun 2013

Disappointed in the many words not covered in this version. Next to useless for crosswords. Not even to be recommended for kids.

4.0 out of 5 stars The start of something good?, 7 Jun 2013

Very entertaining from slowish start in Episode1 the plots & definition of characters developed nicely. Enjoyed particularly the links in the personality & quirks of the (John Thaw Morse) with the Shaun Evans portrayal. Characters of Morse & his boss Thursday appealed more as the episodes passed. I look forward to the next season.

A fantastic viewing experience as good if not better than "The Killing". Love the way one is drawn into the plot and how each episode maintains the tension and unpredictability. What make "The Bridge" particularly memorable is the female lead part Saga Noren who is unlike any other I have seen.

2.0 out of 5 stars How dramatisations have improved., 9 Feb 2012

I consider "The Women in White" worth watching but it also demonstrates the improvements in TV dramatisation since 1982. The lighting was very poor and whilst some sections where unduly extended e.g. Count Fosco's confession, other sections of the plot where inadequately linked. Almost worth watching for what must have been one of the last appearances of Alan Badel and to see a young Jenny Seagrave before she fell under John Deed's thrall.

3.0 out of 5 stars Kingsley excels., 9 Feb 2012

An excellent dramatisation which created atmosphere without allowing the tale to loiter. Ben Kingsley's performance alone is worth whatever you pay.
