4.0 out of 5 stars Out of the Shadows, 19 Sept. 2006
This review is from: The Outsider: +DVD (Audio CD)
I avidly awaited this latest release from Dj Shadow, and on first listen i was wholly disappointed. However on further listening i became more and more impressed.

The Outsider is a change of direction for Dj Shadow and one which in parts works fantastically but in certain parts fails dismally, cases in point unfortuantely being "3 Freaks" and "Turf Dancing". However if the listener can hang on in there and carry on with the album then you will find wonderful gems such as the beautiful "What Have I Done" and the VERY funky sounds of "This Time".

All in all this album is for the most part a great return after The Private Press and The Private Repress although it may not appeal to every DJ Shadow fan.

This would have got 5 stars if not for the, in my opinion, weak 3 Freaks track, but do NOT let this put you off a fantastic return to form.
