Easy cooking for delicious meals, 12 Mar 2013
Recently, I found my 35-year-old pressure cooker in a cupboard in the garage, and to my surprise I was able to get a full set of spares for it. Of course, the recipe book was long gone. With energy prices ever on the rise I can't afford to cook full meals any more, but this book shows me how to get back to cooking a full meal in much less time than the oven or the hob. This book is an ideal starting point for busy families, or singletons, who don't like ready meals and packet food, but don't have the time to cook full meals every time.

Love tagine cooking now, for sure, 12 Mar 2013
I was given a tagine for a birthday present last year but had no idea how to use it properly. This book has opened my eyes to this way of cooking, and I'm slowing working my way through it. Delicious meals every week that I've never eaten before. The format is ideal - a complete recipe with the book opened flat - instructions on one side, photo of finished dish on the other. No hesitation in recommending this.

My Sony Discman back in action, 12 Mar 2013
This review is from: PowerSmart [3.60V,2200mAh,Li-ion], Replacement MD Walkman Battery for SONY MZ-B3, MZ-E3, MZ-R2, MZ-R3, MZ-R30, MZ-R35, MZ-R4ST, Compatible Part Numbers: LIP-12, LIP-12H (Electronics)
After 17 years, the rechargeable battery in my Sony Discman packed in. Had problems getting batteries for older kit before, but when I checked online for this one I found a compatible replacement at a reasonable price and with higher capacity. Delivery was prompt. The battery is a perfect fit. Now it's charged up and I'm back playing my CDs with a quality sound again.

Can cook but want to bake, 9 Feb 2013
Baking has always eluded me, because the variations in preparation and temperatures and timings can so easily ruin a dish. Lorraine Pascal makes it seem so easy. She oozes confidence in this book, and it passes it on to the reader. So far, recipes I've tried have come out more or less as expected, and seem so professional. Won't have to go to the shops now for a super desert or cake, Lorraine showed me that it really is so easy to do. This book really lives up to its title. Thanks Lorraine.

A very poor sequel., 9 Feb 2013
I wish I could give this more stars but it has completely failed to live up to the first film. The basic premise is so rich in possibilities - "if it ain't broke don't fix it", "be careful what you wish for" etc. Exploring alternative timelines can be much better than they portrayed on this film. Glad to say that Butterfly Effect 3 is a far better sequel. This one should have been canned.

Jumped into a favourite of mine, 9 Feb 2013
The hero has the ability to jump to another location at will, but without the fantastic gizmos so beloved of sci-fi movies. There are always consequences to unusual abilities, and the easy wealth our hero accumulates is his undoing. He is pursued by a self-elected group who seek to trap all these 'abominations' who can move at will. Symptomatic of normal society, those with ability sometimes suffer at the hands of those jealous of them. Our hero meets another like him, but not with his temperament, so strains and contentions arise. A classic chase movie with a twist. Great special effects, and quite believable too, if we could only relocate in just such fashion! Maybe that's the film's secret, we all wish we had a superpower like that. I won't give the game away, but all antagonists think they are on the side of right, and the finale has a fantastic twist. I dropped a star from the rating because I found the acting a little stiff at times, but nevertheless, a very entertaining movie that is firmly in my collection.

French cops get down and just do it, 9 Feb 2013
This French series really knocks our British cop/detective shows for six. This French team, struggling against the system and its corruption, pursue justice to the end even if they have to get down in the dirt themselves. The characters are all believable and as fallible as the rest of us. Despite being diverted by the bureaucracy, office politics, and outside rivalries, they keep on into the villains are nicked and banged up. Makes me wonder if our own cops shouldn't get down and get dirty to get the crooks behind bars, and to hell with their 'rights'. Gritty, unexpected, uncompromising, and definitely not afraid to step on toes, there's not drop of phony Hollywood scripting in sight. You cannot fail to fall for our tainted heroes.

A British classic in the making?, 9 Feb 2013
A British "zombie" movie that focuses on the human frailty of the survivors whose innocent mistakes unleash the disease again. Most of the action is around familiar London landmarks. Making a visit there on a quiet Sunday morning can be quite creepy! There are no super heroes to save us in this one, just ordinary people desperate to get out to a sane place again. And of course, they make ordinary innocent mistakes that just make things worse. Some of it is unnecessarily gory, (which is why I marked it down a star) but it is a "zombie" movie after all, and it goes with the territory, I suppose. I've a feeling this will become a classic precisely because there aren't any unbelievable Hollywood heroes there to save the world. The movie's star, Robert Carlyle, fits the bill perfectly as an ordinary guy mixed up in horrendous times. Come back in 10 years time, and I'll bet this film is still showing when the fashion has moved on, and others have been forgotten. Unusually for a sequel, I feel this is better than the original, which, despite Danny Boyle at the helm, always felt like a "made for British TV" movie.

Director's cut not so good, 9 Feb 2013
It's a fairly unique storyline about a young man who can reach back into his past and change things. It does so without the flashy high tech gizmos we usually get with alternate time line stories. Instead, it concentrates on his group of childhood friends and the enormous changes, for good and bad, that his ability brings about. It's a classic warning about "leave things alone" because your changes might be worse than the current mess you are in, and also "be careful what you wish for". Very entertaining, and nostalgic too, as most of have belonged to a little childhood gang like his. I've seen the previous version of this movie and I'm not convinced the director's cut adds anything to the film, which is why I couldn't give the whole five stars.

A bold move entertainly executed, 9 Feb 2013
It was a very bold move to cover several Mediterranean cultures with their quite different cuisines in the one series, but Rick pulls it off brilliantly. His usual chatty and personal style gets to the heart of the subject matter, and his demonstrations show just how easy it can be to make some quite delicious dishes I'd never heard of before. If I can find a single fault with this it's that the series just wasn't long enough. I've already made several of the dishes from these programs and they are so delicious. You won't want to spend out on a take-away when you can follow Rick's recipes. As with his other series, each program is also a travelogue, and a unique "meet the people" journey. Well done Rick, love this as much as the others.
