5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Sharpe, 26 May 2015

Porterhouse Blue is exactly what you'd expect from Sharpe. Harsh, biting social commentary, witty dialogue, clever plot and of course very funny throughout.

A fantastic read.
This is a very good, enjoyable and fast paced action adventure novel. The characters are well written and the plot is genuinely interesting, intriguing and gripping.
You will struggle to find a better novel within the often predictable and ridiculous action adventure genre. This is well worth reading.

I will keep this short and sweet as the other reviews are very in depth. This is a great album.
Good classic heavy metal by a great band at their peak. If you're just starting to get into heavy metal then this album is a must have.

Brilliant album from a truly fantastic artist. Not a bad song in the whole collection, from the heyday of rock n roll.

Eliminator

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Good Time Rock N Roll, 9 Oct. 2011
This review is from: Eliminator (Audio CD)
I love rock music from the 70's & 80's, but although having heard some ZZ Top I'd always put off buying an album. A decision I now regret. I chose Eliminator purely because it's their most famous album and is packed from start to finish with hits.

This really is a great album to get your feet tapping. The songs are generally up beat and very well produced. The lyrics are corny but if you're looking at this product you probably love a bit of cheese!

I cannot recommend this album enough. It truly is a great, good fun, classic slice of Americana rock. Well worth owning.

Punslinger is very funny. Of course it is. Tim Vine is one of the best comedians around. His jokes are primarily silly puns - but don't let that put you off, he is brilliant. This DVD is an hour of very funny jokes told at a quick-fire pace and if you have too much time on your hands the commentary is very good too.

Honestly, I prefer Mr Vines other DVD's but that said, I own over 200 stand up DVD's (nerd!) and the three that I own are constantly returned to. Really great stuff. Buy all of his products no matter what they may be.

Well worth owning.

Bo Burnham wowed the masses on youtube with his keyboard in his room when he was just a lad. Now in his early-twenties he's becoming a bit of a superstar. This DVD tries to show you why he is headlining clubs and festivals all over the globe. I like Bo's jokes they are one-liners that are on par with any other jokes you are likely to hear/see. However, words words words seems to have been incorrectly titled. This DVD is basically a concert of his songs, of various degrees of quality, some of them very long and boring, and in between songs he tells a couple of jokes, again, apparently all the best stuff had already been released on his CD.

Bo is a good performer but if it is a very good musical comedian you are after, look elsewhere. If it is a very good joke teller you are after, look elsewhere. This is not a terrible show, but it doesn't inspire me to purchase any of his other stuff. A little disappointed unfortunately.

Every now and then you will hear a comedian being asked, "Who is your favourite comedian right now?" Almost always it seems that the answer is Louis C.K. This DVD is yet another example of why he is so popular. His material is honest, brutally honest, self-deprecating, humiliating stuff, but it is always told with a confidence and control over the audience that leaves you spell bound. He is a truly brilliant comedian who finds the raw humour in his life and shares it on stage, no matter how embarrassing.

Steve Byrne is a fantastic comedian, which is one of the many reasons he is so popular. Jay Leno said of him that he needs no gimmicks just a microphone. That is exactly what you get here. A comedian on a stage in a suit telling jokes to an absolutely captivated audience. Brilliant.

The jokes come thick and fast, in a no holds barred show delving into the topic of race and what it is to be American. The show is clever and very, very funny. The "finger blasting" joke alone is priceless. But all of this would not be possible without a confident, charismatic, energetic comedian truly at the top of his game.

If you want to know just how great American stand up is at this very moment then look no further. A very, very funny and skilled man.
