5.0 out of 5 stars Some stunning tracks, 29 Dec 2010
My musical tastes are very broad, but have not previously extended to cello music, but I am very glad to have been introduced to this album, which has some tracks that are breathtakingly beautiful. I will certainly be looking out for further work by Mike Sheppard and Caroline Dale. I recommend this one for something a bit different, peaceful, reflective, but very interesting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely film but tissues required!, 10 Nov 2008
Delighted to see this is out on DVD. I saw this film at a charity screening and thought it was a perfect `Christmas Eve on the sofa' movie. In truth it offers a lot more than that - a great story, and very gently done throughout, successfully avoided falling into the schmaltz trap. Ultimately uplifting, but sensitive viewers may require a good box of tissues on the way there

Bring on the Apocalypse: Six Arguments for Global Justice

5.0 out of 5 stars One argument for reading this book, 29 April 2008
Thank heavens for George Monbiot. So much journalism is little more than cheap entertainment - celebrity twaddle, spoon-fed PR puffs and endlessly regurgitated versions of last weeks human interest or political scandal story.

Monbiot must irritate so many of his colleagues for showing what can be done, by finding out some interesting facts and putting them together for himself, in a logical and meaningful way.

If you want some insight into how the world really works, read this book, and his weekly columns.
