Porto, pocket guides 3rd, (Thomas Cook Publishing)

Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Good overview of Porto and surrounding towns, 19 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Nice portable guide that gives useful information without going overboard on detailed description.
Not as many unique tips as some "lonely planet" guides have, but it worked very well for a week's stay in Porto.

Difficult to believe how much better this peeler is compared to another swivel peeler I bought !
Great for potatoes and carrots. Very sharp blade that runs over contours very well and removes a thin consistent skin.

LG M227WDP 22-inch Full HD 1080p LCD TV/Monitor (5ms, 10000:1, HDMI)
LG M227WDP 22-inch Full HD 1080p LCD TV/Monitor (5ms, 10000:1, HDMI)

4.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the box, 18 Feb. 2011
I wanted a small TV for the bedroom that would double for occasional use as a larger monitor to use with my laptop.
I was impressed that all cables were in the box and the TV installation was very simple.
As another reviewer had noted, the monitor was set up to a high contrast setting by default, but this was easy to change back to "normal" display which looked much more realistic. Tuner worked fine even with a small aerial after a bit of positioning, though we are in quite a strong signal area.
Therefore, for a small TV with good quality image, I was very pleased with the purchase.

Video quality was also good when I tried it as a monitor. The only snag was that I could not get my Toshiba satellite U300 -11v laptop to work at 1920x1080 using the VGA connector, even though the Intel chipset was supposed to support it. I tried downloading an update from Intel and the right personality driver from LG and it is possible that the custom version of the intel chipset used in the U300 was not up to the task, or it could have been an issue with Vista, but I failed to get it working with the right aspect ratio and covering the same screen area. I have yet to try it out as a 2nd monitor for my desktop, which has a dedicated graphics card, but I just put this as a warning to anyone who assumes that Vista will be able to configure a second monitor to anything allowed by the Intel graphics chipset... it may not be that simple.

So overall, I have no reason to fault the LG as a TV or a monitor, just check your computer is up to it if you want to get 1920x1060 with vga connector.

4.0 out of 5 stars Using Tour De France with GameBike, 21 Nov. 2009
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tour De France (Video Game)
This is not a general review of the game, but a specific review for those using it with GameBike.
For exercise bike training this could be a brilliant game because it has lots of variety in courses and realistic implementation. The main snag is that the pedalling does not work ideally with the GameBike speed sensor so the character is essentially pedalling at constant rate. With the manual controller, the X key can be pumped to make the character stand up to accelerate but this is not possible by varying the pedalling speed on the GameBike. Having said that, concentrating on taking a good line, avoiding crashing into other competitors in arcade mode and working around different courses still provides enough interest to keep exercising. It's not quite as engaging as Gran Turismo that requires a lot of coordination with brake and steering, but there are very few long courses in GT4 whereas Tour De France has a lot of nice long routes.
