Hero Book 1 - The Assignment: A Military Romance

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 23 Nov. 2015

A bit slow and the characters are pretty flat. This is also only half a book- spends the whole time setting the scene, then stops before anything happens and you have to buy the next book to find out. I usually don't mind serial books, but there's so little plot in this book and so little action that I suspect the author intends to string this out over a number of books before anything interesting occurs. I really wouldn't bother- feel like I've wasted my time reading it.

A decent enough plot, with likeable characters, but for some reason the author's chosen to write in third person, present tense and it just doesn't work. It makes it awkward to read and you feel a bit disconnected from the main characters because the narrative voice makes it clunky. It's a shame because a different style by the author would make this much more readable. I'm torn about buying the second one, I want to know what happens to the main characters - this book does end on a cliffhanger- but not sure I can bear more of the awkward style.

1.0 out of 5 stars Diabolical on every level, 12 Mar. 2015

This "book" is so short it took me less than five minutes to read it from start to finish. It's got no plot- she literally decides to go for a drink, meets him, the end. The book ends as she's getting up from the table at the bar. Don't waste your time; if I could give it negative stars I would. To round it off, it's poorly written and clearly a feeble attempt to write a cliffhanger so people will buy the next one when it's released.

1.0 out of 5 stars awful, 27 Oct. 2014

I'm afraid to say this book was awful. The writing was very flat and the characters are completely two dimensional, with no depth. The dialogue was cringeworthy at best because it was all so obvious. I hate to be unkind, but I won't be buying any more of this author's work.

1.0 out of 5 stars Carelessly and dully written, 5 Jan. 2014

Badly conceived and immaturely dealt with, Miss Brown has created a book with completely flat characters and a complete lack of plot. The sample promised much, but everything was so underdeveloped and Kingston's treatment of Andorra wasn't BDSM, it was abuse- what kind of man forgets to feed a woman he has locked in a room? What kind of author thinks a "hero" who forgets his sub's basic needs such as food and water on a regular basis is the kind of character to lead an erotic romance?

The erotic scenes were clinical and uninteresting- seriously don't waste your money. I'd give it 0 stars if possible.

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely awful, 12 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Badly written, confusing, with so many holes where the reader has no chance of following what's happening or what the character is thinking. The ending is appalling, it's as though she just stopped being bothered to write it; the main point of suspense is left unresolved and is swept away with an inadequate gesture, despite the hero trying to resolve said problem for the majority of the book. A book that will leave you bemused and unsatisfied. Don't bother.

New Ladies Light Copper Stainless Steel Case White Dial Necklace Pendant Pocket Watch

2.0 out of 5 stars Bit Disappointed, 13 July 2011
It looks really nice but I have no idea how to wind the watch to the correct time or how to insert the battery. But the fact it comes with a battery suggests it is meant to function as a watch and not just as a decorative ornament. Does anyone have any ideas?

2.0 out of 5 stars Book Binding, 27 Jan. 2011
The text itself is a conflated edition and the marks noting where it has been conflated are somewhat annoying. However, my main issue is, that on the first reading less than 24 hours after I bought it the pages are coming away from the glue binding them to the spine. I usually have a very high opinion of Arden edition Shakespeare but I have to say that this one has been shoddily constructed. Buy a more sturdy edition.
