5.0 out of 5 stars Not sure why you'd want a three pack but this is the best brush I have ever used, 2 Sep 2011
Last year I had a highlighting disaster which resulted in hair that was so dried out it took at least 25 minutes to brush my hair every day while in pain the whole time. I abandoned the Denman brush I had been using for years and I tried every brush and leave in conditioner under the sun but nothing helped.

I went to a different hairdresser the next time (no way I was going to the old one again) and I warned her how long it would take to brush out the straw that was my hair, so she pulled out the tigi ouchless brush and to my joy and relief discovered that this brush is truly ouchless!

I have never found a brush as good as this one. It goes straight through knots and doesn't hurt. It has been brilliant, and even though the awful straw highlights have now grown out I continue to use this. In fact I now have 3 of these brushes and have bought them for nearly every friend I know with long hair. Admittedly this is not a styling brush but anyone with long hair should have one of these.

I cannot praise this product enough!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Genius Show - Funny, Entertaining, Charming, 1 Sep 2011
I was originally lent this show by a friend and I pretty much knew within 30 mins of the first episode I was hooked and going to have to by my own copy immediately.

To be fair, what's not to like. Spaceships - Check, Cowboy style clothes and old west lingo - Check, Old school guns mixed with lasers - Check. It really is like cowboys in space. There's also a little bit of banditry mixed in with some robin hood style capers. The characters are engaging and the actors that were cast are perfect. I find that's a theme with Joss Whedon shows, casting is rarely bad. Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk are the real highlights in this show. Both funny and both charming in their own ways. I don't want to go into detail on the story as firstly I hate spoilers and secondly, the joy of this show is discovering it episode by episode.

It is a crying shame that this show was cancelled. If you are reading this and you've never heard of firefly and end up buying it, you HAVE to buy the film (SERENITY) that finishes the series off too. I guarantee you will reach the last episode and be in desperate need of more. When it was cancelled Joss Whedon made the film to help answer some of the questions raised in the show that never got answered.

As much as I hate the fact that this show was cancelled, by Fox, for no good reason, like soooooo many other Fox shows, secretly I love the satisfaction of introducing new people to it that never heard about it's short run on tv at the time. It's like a secret little word of mouth club where you share it's genius with newbies that don't know what a brown coat is... yet...Shiny!

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit of a giggle - good ensemble cast, 1 Sep 2011
This review is from: Drowning Mona [DVD] (DVD)
I'm quite surprised by some of the other reviews for this film. I don't think this is the best film in the world but it's also not the worst. This was one of my many random film purchases where I looked at the cast list, saw the low sale price and thought I'd chance it. After watching it I was really happy I had.

It's a lovely ensemble cast. Danny DeVito oddly playing the "straight-man" in this plethora of oddballs. This films tracks the investigation into how the most despicable and unlikable woman in town (Bette Midler) ends up driving off a cliff into a lake. Considering that everyone in town hated her, the list of suspects is seemingly endless. You have William Fichtner her cheating husband, Marcus Thomas her feckless son, Jamie Lee Curtis as the trashy mistress, Casey Affleck as the down trodden ready to snap business partner, Neve Campbell as his fiancé and many more suspects. Will Ferrell even makes a little appearance as a very very very disturbing funeral director.

Admittedly it's a bit off-beat in it's humour and so many characters a hard to like, but that's why I think I like it. It's not what you expect and I found it refreshing.

4.0 out of 5 stars I get this isn't everyones cup of tea - but Tom Cruise fat and crunking!! Awesome, 1 Sep 2011
As the title states, this film is always going to get mixed reviews. I think its a bit like marmite. But to any one reading this, if you like films like Superbad, Super Troopers, Dodgeball, Anchorman, or Zoolander I expect you'll laugh out loud at this film. It is an acquired taste, and you have to accept that every politically incorrect aspect of it is either a joke or supposed to be ironic.

So, having said that, the film follows several actors as they hash their way through the most over budget, over and under acted, vietnam war film ever made. After screwing up the most expensive explosion scene in the film the director snaps and decides to drop them in the jungle alone and film them using hidden cameras. It all goes wrong from there really. Enter the drug cartel with live weapons, a lead actor that can't follow a map, and a killer comedy panda.

Robert Downey Jr. and Ben Stiller are brilliantly tacky playing the archetypal hollywood actors but what really makes it for me are the little parts. Matthew McConaughey playing the money grabbing agent, and Tom Cruise in a fat suit playing the cruel and heartless studio boss are hilarious.

So, you either love it or you hate this one. If you are prepared to risk hating it, watch it as you might just love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Didn't expect to love it - but I did!!, 1 Sep 2011
This review is from: Tangled [DVD] (DVD)
So you're sat on a plane, looking through the movies, can't find anything to watch, see this on the menu and realise at 29 you're probably a little too old to watch it... But why not!

I'm so glad I did. In all honesty I was expecting your run of the mill straight to dvd kind of Disney movie as I hadn't heard much about this when it was out in the cinema and I was wonderfully surprised. So much so I bought it as soon as I got back from my holiday :)

This a lovingly crafted take on the classic Rapunzel. I don't really want to give away any spoilers about Disney's take on it as one of the things I liked about this was the intro at the beginning that explains how Rupunzel finds herself hidden away from the world trapped in her tower. Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore do a wonderful job on voicing the main characters. As a Chuck fan I got a kick out hearing Zachary Levi as the wonderfully comedic haphazard "hero". Not often the hero's weapon of choice ends up being a cast iron frying pan :)

Overall without giving too much away, it's a wonderful journey through a familiar fairy tale and will make you laugh in all the right places. Lot's for the kids and plenty for the adults to chuckle at.

4.0 out of 5 stars Laugh Out Loud Funny, 1 Sep 2011
So are you bored with current offering of "funny" TV shows? If so and you want to discover an oldie but a goodie, this is the show for you.

Follow the hilarious lives of 6 sarcastic and witty brits doing not a lot, but making you laugh with their ridiculous commentaries on friends and dating from the men vs woman stand point. If you're not hooked by the end of the second episode I'd be surprised. The show is made up of a cast of 6 - 3 men 3 women which yes is very "friends" like, but I have to say I think that's where the similarity ends for me. I think it'a well worth watching and judging in it's own right and shouldn't be written off as a British version of Friends.

Susan and Steve will make you laugh as they tip-toe through the perils of a new relationship. There's Sally the youth obsessed liberal, Patrick the womanising tory, Jane who can only be described as insane, and finally Geoff. Geoff has to be my favourite character, watch the series and then tell me his theories on "giggle loops", "porn buddies", and "nudity buffers" didn't make you laugh. He lives in his own little universe of strangeness (but in many cases is only highlighting something you've thought about at least once in you life).

WD My Passport Essential SE 1 TB Metallic Red Portable Hard Drive (USB 3.0/2.0)
WD My Passport Essential SE 1 TB Metallic Red Portable Hard Drive (USB 3.0/2.0)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Portable Hard Drive, shame about the software..., 1 Sep 2011
I needed a portable hard drive with large amounts of storage to back up my all my media and thought this would be perfect. I'm not really that techie so when I was looking around I pretty much saw the words "portable", "1TB" and "metallic red" and at that price I was sold :)

Despite my lack of tech knowledge I have to say this hard drive is perfect for what I need it for. It's powered off the USB, the transfer rate from my computer is very quick (up to 3x USB 3.0) and the cable is short so you don't have endless cables trailing around your computer. It's very well designed, small, sleek and I like that you can pick multiple colours.

The only reason this isn't 5 stars is that I don't like the software that comes with it. When I first plugged it into my mac it formatted the hard drive automatically and I couldn't get it to "undo" it. I bought it to transfer files from my windows laptop to my mac, but once it was formatted to the mac my laptop wouldn't recognise it. I'm sure it was my fault and I probably clicked the wrong button but it still annoyed me. I wish I'd read the other reviews here first and avoided the WD software entirely.

Overall this is a great hard drive and I would recommend this to anyone looking for high quality but low cost data storage.

4.0 out of 5 stars Expensive but great space saver and hard drive hider..., 24 Aug 2011
Having just bought an iMac I was eager to get my new toy home and start playing with it :) What frustrated me was I had this sleek looking computer that was marred by the cable leading to my hard drive. Petty I know, but as I want to keep my computer in my bedroom, I'd rather it didn't look like an office...

I searched the Apple shop and found this little shelf and thought why not, I'll give it a shot. I'm very glad I bought it! Admittedly it is fiddly to set up. I picked the wrong plastic inserts the first couple of tries, but after a little trial and error it fits perfectly and is very securley fastened to the iMac stand. It fits my WD passport portable hard drive with room to spare, and at a push I think I could sit a second passport on there too without needing another shelf.

Despite the fiddly set up, it is designed well. The look ties in very well with the iMac stand, it's sturdy and doesn't feel cheap.

I agree with the other reviewers that this is an expensive item for what it is, but what I will say in it's defense is I haven't found a comparable product like it on the market designed for the iMac. If there were any competition in this niche market, I'm sure it would be cheaper.

Over all I am very happy with it and can see me buying a second shelf in the future if my number of hard drives continues to increase.

Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Therapy Sampler Gift Set (3 x 50ml)
Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Therapy Sampler Gift Set (3 x 50ml)

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect gift for a friend (or to keep for yourself)..., 28 Jun 2011
These are wonderful handcreams, they absorb well and do not leave that irritating residue that so many hand creams do these days. My favourite is the Lemon, Honey and Corriander one - the smell is so inviting that I find you just want to keep applying it as often as possible.

This set is especially useful for the woman with too many handbags! When you can't be bothered to transfer things between which ever handbag you are currently using, just put each one in a different handbag. The height of laziness I know, but who really wants to waste time these days :)

I thouroughly recommend these hand creams - great quality creams, great quality containers/tubes and great gift :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and sultry but not too over powering, 28 Jun 2011
I recently was set a birthday present challenge. Last year I bought my friend a perfume she had never tried before - Ricci Ricci by Nina Ricci as I liked it and hoped she would too. This kind of back fired on me as this year she challenged me to do the same again - not an easy task. Find a perfume she would love but that was different from last years :) Off I went on a mission, and the perfume I chose was Lady Million by Paco Rabanne.

Niether she nor I like flowery perfumes and tend to go for the sweeter scents with deeper tones. This fits the bill perfectly. It reminds me of Ricci Ricci or a less over powering version of Black XS but is not as strong and far more subtle. I like the smell so much that I am going to buy this for myself as soon as I run out of Ricci Ricci.

Because of it's subtlety it is more of a day scent though.
