replace anger: empty yourself of anger by being filled with mercy, truth, love, kindness, and a tender heart
Price: £3.34

4.0 out of 5 stars A interesting new angle on anger management, 23 Oct. 2014
This was an enlightening read that examines ways to overcome and deal with anger. There are numerous exercises along the way to encourage you to put the methods into practice.

There are also numerous bible passages and quotes to demonstrate how Christian Theology can assist when looking to overcome anger issues.

5.0 out of 5 stars a fun read, 23 Oct. 2014
This was a fun book for older primary age children (and some *cough* slightly older readers).

The story is fun and fast paced enough to keep kids reading, and is also clearly well researched as if you are interested enough to check, you'll find some of the same clues littering the Internet as the main character did.

Recommended for curious kids (and adults) looking for something entertaining to read next.

97 Twitter Marketing Tips for Authors
97 Twitter Marketing Tips for Authors
Price: £2.21

5.0 out of 5 stars very useful, 23 Oct. 2014
This is a useful guide to building a presence on Twitter that will walk you through the basics of getting set up and creating a 'brand identity'.

It also covers the more advanced tips to make the most of that presence, but always delivered in a down to earth and easy to understand way.

Cove Valley
Cove Valley

5.0 out of 5 stars a good read (and re-read), 23 Oct. 2014
This review is from: Cove Valley (Kindle Edition)
A gripping page turner that grabs you from the first page and doesn't let up until the last.

I read this quickly, as I could hardly put it down, and then when I got to the very end and the mystery was revealed, I had to read it over again to appreciate the second, more complex, layer.

Inviting Trouble (Dark Erotic Noir Book 1)
Inviting Trouble (Dark Erotic Noir Book 1)
Price: £1.99

5.0 out of 5 stars steamy reading, 23 Oct. 2014
This was a fast paced whodunnit with an erotic edge. Sexy, clever and a real page turner.

Despite having several steamy scenes they were all varied, keeping it exciting rather than repetitive, a great escapist read.

Diary of a Meningioma: A Patient's Perspective
Diary of a Meningioma: A Patient's Perspective
Price: £1.99

5.0 out of 5 stars poignant and informative, 22 Oct. 2014
A very readable, no-nonsense but still heartfelt account of one man's journey through the medical system after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The book is as informative as it is interesting, because the author weaves his own experiences in with medical facts and studies, and so provides both a human and scientific element to the book.

It is a refreshingly down to earth accounting of how it feels to have a potentially life-threatening condition be diagnosed almost out of the blue.

4.0 out of 5 stars handy guide, 22 Oct. 2014

This is an interesting guide to fermenting vegetables for a complete beginner. It covers the basics you will need to know so that you can get started quickly on producing your own fermented vegetables.

I bought this because I love sauerkraut and was interested in starting to ferment other types of vegetables for the health benefits (as well as the taste!). It's given me a couple of new ideas that I can't wait to try.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth a read, 22 Oct. 2014
This was a compelling read, even if I couldn't buy into all of the theories presented.

It is a refreshingly down-to earth look at the differences between genders when it comes to sex, love and dating. Some of it is very illuminating, particularly as a woman to see things from a male perspective. And some of the observations on female behaviour were amusingly accurate.

However, although the book does regularly draw on research and studies to back up points, it doesn't do this consistently for every point made. I found a few times when reading that there were some things I just could not get on board with. For example, there is a comment noting that research shows that women who don't want children have either had bad childhoods, or are selfish. I can go with the bad childhood thing, but how do you actually quantify what 'selfish' is scientifically? And the research alluded to isn't cited so it's hard to gain any further insight into what exactly prompted that opinion.

Overall it reminded me rather a lot of the kind of science you might read in the Daily Mail. Interesting, sometimes amusing, sometimes informative - but probably best followed up with some independent research of your own before you go around quoting it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read, 22 Oct. 2014

I was excited to read this book, having already read 'Amelias Inheritance' by the same author. This is a very different story, but retains the same elements of delving deep into the more disturbing elements of human nature and dealing with difficult topics like rape and racism in a compelling way.

There are many plot twists that keep you turning the pages, and every time I thought I had connected the dots, the author managed to surprise me again.

A very good read if you enjoy sensitively drawn and complex characters and a plot that will keep you guessing.

My Life as Athena: Secrets of a Greek Goddess
My Life as Athena: Secrets of a Greek Goddess

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for lovers of Fantasy and Mythology alike, 20 Oct. 2014

This is an excellent recounting of a huge amount of Greek mythology through the eyes of Athena. Not only does the author bring Athena to life as a person we can actually relate to, but she actually shows us many of the myths through the eyes of Athena, considering how these would impact her as well as the other deities involved.

As a practising Wiccan, this is possibly one of the most entertaining and educational accounts of Greek mythology that I have read, and it also appeals greatly to me as a reader of fantasy- mainly because of the excellent characterisation of all the deities.

I particularly enjoyed the 'epilogue' - a kind of 'where are they now' feature, which made me smile a lot.
