4.0 out of 5 stars Small niggles - otherwise a great collection, 23 Feb 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Stand By For Action (Audio CD)
just a couple of niggles - The Thunderbird theme, despite having the effects on the early part - Thunderbird 1 launch and the thunder under the vocal 'Thunderbirds Are Go!', is missing the explosions under/over the drum rolls at the piece
Also the Stingray theme, despite having "Stand By For Action!" as a separate track, then omits the rest of the vocal parts i.e. "We are about to launch Stingray !", and the classic "Anything can happen in the next half hour !"
Also, the Captain Scarlet theme should have had the voice over, as 30 seconds of footsteps don't mean much unless you remember the introduction
Other than those a great collection

3.0 out of 5 stars My favourite translation but........., 20 Mar 2013

The Mark Musa translation is the one I find easiest to read out of the 4 I have, and I wanted a Kindle version, BUT
This version for some reason has the notes scattered throughout the text rather than separated at the end of each Canto as in the hard copy version.
It makes it almost impossible to keep the thread through the Cantos, especially for a largish note e.g. the one on the Old Man of Crete in Canto XIV
Hopefully at some point the publisher will upgrade this version to one resembling the Kirkpatrick version, which has the notes linked as foot notes at the appropriate point in the text
but for this formatting problem I would have given it 5 stars
Addition 15th May 2013 - Having seen the paperback preview of this I now realise that the notes are actually at the foot of each page, and the Kindle version reproduces the notes in the right place, BUT, does not have the page breaks. Hence it appears that the notes are scattered at random

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like the film buy this CD !, 6 Jun 2001

This is the most complete soundtrack album I've seen in years. ALL the music featured in the film is there, in the original recordings, as well as some material recorded for the film but not used. The "extended selections" are the full version as written by Miklos Rosza, which were edited in the movie. The Outtakes are pieces written for parts of the movie, and then left out for whatever reason. It certainly isn't that the music's poor - because it isn't. The DVD doesn't feature an isolated music track so if you want the Music for this magnificent film then buy this it's worth every penny!!
