Where else would you find Michael Hordern, Bernard Cribbins, Martin Jarvis, Lulu, Tony Robinson, Judy Bennett, Sheila Steafel, Peter Hakins, Leonard Rossiter and Gordon Rollings?

1.0 out of 5 stars Keep Christmas With You but not with this DVD!, 4 Jun 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This a DVD which is essentially Kenny putting on a concert with five kids. It's just too twee for words. He's a great singer but the kids just don't add anything to it. In fact the funniest (unintentional of course) part is when the kids are singing especially at 38:10 mins! It's awful - I would've expected someone of Kenny's experience to say "Listen kid, sometimes less is more!"
Also on the DVD are Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood and Boyz II Men.

Unless you're a fan, give it a miss. I only paid a penny for it so I'm not too bothered!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good boxset!, 31 May 2009
I originally watched The Santa Clause a couple of years ago and wasn't overly impressed. I think I thought that because it starred Tim Allen of Home Improvement and Judge Reinhold it would be a bit edgier. Should have realised when it was made by Disney! D'oh!
I persevered and picked up the boxset cheaply. I think watching the three films in succession works better. I actually think the first film is the weakest. It's good entertainment without being too cheesey.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit short!, 31 May 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Bump's Christmas Story [DVD] (DVD)
The DVD contains the following Bump episodes -
Bump's Christmas Story
Bump and The Talking Tree
Bump's Big Ears
Bump's Umbrella.

If you're not familiar with Bump, it's about a clumsy elephant and his animal friends produced for pre-school children. Narrated by Simon Cadell, each episode is five minutes long except the Christmas one which is 10 minutes.

Less than 25 minutes long, the DVD is very over-priced. Do what I did and buy a copy from Amazon Marketplace for a penny! This will entertain your children - just not for long!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Two series released in one year!, 3 May 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Watching is easily my favourite sit-com. It seems to be a forgotten gem when 'talking heads' discuss classic British comedy. Numpties!

In the third series we see Brenda & Malcolm still together (just!) and David & Pamela getting married at the end. Malcolm leaves Mod Shops and starts up his own motor bike repair business. In fact the best episode centres around Mod Shops annual party!

The DVD opens with the Christmas special that aired on Christmas Eve 1988. Incidentally this particular episode didn't have anything to do with Christmas. However on the cover of the DVD is a picture of them all in a Christmas setting. This is very misleading as it's actually taken from the Christmas special of 1987!
As for the episode itself, it's just not in the same league as the regular series. I don't think I'd seen it before but the musical soundtrack is just awful. And it's not that funny either.

In summary, great series - not so great special! Roll on May 11th for the 5th series!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Man In Black, 30 April 2009
I write this review as more a fan of Christmas than Johnny Cash.

This DVD is of the first Johnny Cash Christmas Special aired in on TV 1976. The setting is Johnny's farm in Tennessee. The guests include Tony Orlando (who sang 'Tie A Yellow Ribbon' which they sing together on this), Roy Clark, Merle Travis, Barbara Mandrell and of course June Carter Cash. Also featured is the evangelist Billy Graham reciting 'A Story Of Christmas'. Christmas songs are as follows -

Christmas As I Knew It (Johnny Cash);
The Christmas Song (Roy Clark);
That Christmasy Feeling (Tommy Cash).

It doesn't feel especially Christmassy but its's worth a look. I'd definately recommend it for JC fans which is why I've given it 4 stars. But just 2.5 stars if you're buying it for the Christmas content.

Donny And Marie Osmond - The Donny And Marie 1978 Christmas Show [DVD]
Donny And Marie Osmond - The Donny And Marie 1978 Christmas Show [DVD]
Dvd ~ Donnie and Marie Osmond

4.0 out of 5 stars Donny & Marie............awwww!, 16 April 2009
I bought this because I collect all things Christmas and not because I'm an Osmonds fan. But I was pleasantly surprised. OK, it's quite 'cute' (and a bit cheesy!) but therein lies the Osmonds charm. This is a family who genuinely enjoy being together and it showed on the DVD. I especially enjoyed the Osmond wives musical number.
This DVD would be perfect for any Osmonds fan or for anyone who likes Christmas in general. A family Christmas "just like the ones we used to know". Who wouldn't want to be an Osmond at Cristmas!

Swatch Women's Wrist Watch Circus Party GE209 with Plastic Strap
Swatch Women's Wrist Watch Circus Party GE209 with Plastic Strap

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice fun watch!, 19 Mar 2009
This is a great little watch. Nice bright colours as well - everybody will notice it!
Strap is a bit on the the narrow side so be careful if you've got big arms!
The only reason I don't give it five stars is because after a time of continual wearing, the strap will start to show signs of wear. This has happened with every Swatch I've owned.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hmmmm......, 3 Feb 2009
This is the stage version of The Snowman.
It runs for 86 minutes instead of the 24 minutes of the original. Naturally that means a few new scenes and more music. Howard Blake wrote more music for the stage show so at least the music is in keeping.
Like the original, there are no vocals, just music. For me the whole thing was just too long. This is quite a simple story and the extended time works against it.
It's certainly not bad - it's just that the original Snowman was so good. I'm sure watching this on the stage is actually better than watching the DVD.
