4.0 out of 5 stars Great adition to the series, 9 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Really want to give this a 5 as I really enjoyed it but there are some reacurring issues with the series that are getting to me
1. why are all the new species males going for humans when their surrounded by their own women and swore against doing so
2. why are all the human women getting into rape scenarios
3. why are we not reading about more new species characters than a handful in each book

thought valiant was an amazing character and liked his aggresive dominant attitude so really wanted him to pick a female of his own species ideally and to see something new coming from them but Tammy was decent enough.
the issue about her being something more than human was mentioned a few times but never resolved so thought that was pretty pointless.

I think i'm going to skip to book 9 to read about a proper new species couple with Beauty as that's what I want to see more of and the next few all have human females even though Justice has sworn not to

4.0 out of 5 stars great new concept, 9 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
What a great unique concept for a book and it by far exceeded my expectations right down to the whitty chapter names.

Halo has been a victim all her life until it abruptly ended by the hands of her latest abuser, her boyfriend Travis. He features briefly but past events that have brought her to becoming a Hellhound are all brought forward as she deals with her new role.

Having a chance at redemption was an easy one to make so now she's one of the five Hellhounds under the employment of Lucifer that are destined to seek out demons that have escaped to earth.

The sexual content was delicious to read and believable which is the main as some exaggerate terribly. Halo's love interest is the chivalrous Gunner who's easing her into her new life but their love is a bumpy ride made worse by Lucifers blatant lust for her.

Very enjoyable and addictive, thought the chapter names were very fun and true to the story.
There were quite a few noticeable editing errors so that was a slight let down but didn't detract from the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sad to see it end (if it really has), 27 Jan. 2014

review Ended fantastically with the end of Lucas's creations and the friends finally coming together
*spoiler*
can't believe whitley's gone as drew and her deserved to be happy and poor Bergan losing them both. Really wish she had been saved so that's my biggest regret with this book

What happened with drew renouncing being king was expected and is really good for Lyssia as a kingdom but seems a waste after all he's lost. Don't think it's the end of the Series completely as there were still too many questions unanswered with Hector, The Wylde Wolves and Drews happiness. The war may be over but things still aren't perfect

Fingers crossed there's more as I love this series

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing start to a paranormal series, 27 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Picked this up free from Amazon and I can't understand why as it's a seriously good book...but I may not have downloaded it had it not been free so an excellent way to draw someone in and get them addicted!

Lana is an 8th generation Reaper and is only classified to handled the low risk souls but she's fine with that but unbeknownst to her she was created a little different from the other Reapers.
A special soul is needed so a promotion is thrust in Lana's lap and the danger level of her job just sky rocketed.

Loved this story as the concept was very unique and unlike anything i've read before. There's always been ghost stories but this version being about the afterlife having it's own community and business was fun and intriguing.
All the characters worked well together and it all just came alive with all the little details.

Don't think I noticed any editing errors and the language used was fresh and appropriate to the characters and target audience. The cover could possibly use some work but it clearly shows what the books about.

Tragic Love (Sulfur Heights Book 2)
Tragic Love (Sulfur Heights Book 2)
Price: £0.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Have to take the sour with the sweet, 20 Jan. 2014
If you read Scarred Love then you know these books have a dark, edgier nature to them and love or hate them they get to you. Sulfur Heights is the bottomless pit the Evans family have grown up in and you either sink or swim in their world but one thing is for sure and that's they always stick together.

In the previous book you read about Presleys past and the hellish time she spent with her Uncle but in this installment you see the repercuttions of those events and how they've shaped her as a person. It's told from her and Drakes p.o.v. but it is predominatly about her and her struggles with severe depression, a mental health issue that all of us know about but unless you've experienced it yourself you just don't realise how it can completely encompass your life.

The are numerous twists and turns, some of which you could see coming and others where you were just blown away. The ending was heart wrenching and I actually cried which is something I never do with a book unless I really connect with it.
Some areas were slightly long winded and maybe did't need to be told from both characters perspectives but it still worked. Tough issues were raised but the world isn't black and white and not everyone gets their happily ever after.
I'm of mixed thoughts about the ending but I think it was true to the Sulfur Heights Series and what it represents. M.S. Brannon is telling the story of the seedier side of society where people have to see the roses out of the shit to be frank.

I have hope for Drake in the future and can't wait to see more of the mysterious Jeremy as I think he seems to be the true Knight in shining armour..

The only real flaw in these wonderfully dark romances is the editing errors as I think if the books were abit more polished they could be real gems.

5.0 out of 5 stars So glad I changed my usual reading genre for this book, 19 Jan. 2014

Wow this book had me captivated from the first page.

Darcie has had the most horrendous childhood you can imagine but she's rescued by a man who all his life has had to look after other people.
The Evans family welcome her with open arms and take her under their wing. After years of abuse she finally finds a place to call home and wouldn't trade any of the brothers for anything. The only complication is that her rescuer has become more to her than a big brother and it's increasingly difficult for both to keep within their boundries.
Reggie noticed the shift in their relationship a while ago but with Darcie being underage and he being her guardian he knows he has to be the one to keep the distance and their family unit running smoothly.

The characters are all developed and interact with an ease that makes it a joy to read about them. Reggie himself is a mouth watering character with his descrition being of a tall taught god.
Darcie is complex but you instantly empathise with her and understand all of her eccentricities.

There were some tiny editing errors but nothing major and my only real criticism with the story is that maybe it was a tad long winded in that some scenes could have been cut down and the story wouldn't have suffered for it.

Was very pleased to see that the series didn't end with this book and that it stays with the Evans family as i'm dying to read more about the twins, especially Jake.

Slade (New Species Book 2)
Slade (New Species Book 2)
Price: £4.18

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed it but it was abit slow at first, 13 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The first half of the book was completely based in the woods with Slade and Trisha's stand off against the new species protesters so it did drag abit but when they finally started to resolve their differences and come together the book really came alive.
I enjoyed seeing some different new species characters emerge and was glad it wasn't the smooth easy romance like some erotica books.

The scenario that Trisha and Slade face at the end is a good basis for the series to develop from and kicks it up a notch but really want to read more about their time in captivity.

Will read more of the series but hope their not too samey

5.0 out of 5 stars you dont mess with dusty, 13 Jan. 2014
Another whirlwind adventure for the kick ass demon hunter who's posse has hearts of gold.

Dusty is in her home town enjoying a coffee with her friend when she suddenly notices a group of unusual women and the surrounding communities reaction to them. With her training and past battles she doesn't have much to fear and knows everyone has a weak link.
The older than sin Shudder Sisters think they have their prey in their sights with Dusty but they don't yet realise their about to become the hunted.

The Dusty stories are short, sweet and packed with the paranormal enough to whet any fantasy lovers appetite.

Suitable for YA and up with the fun adventurous edge it has.

5.0 out of 5 stars it's finally here!, 13 Jan. 2014

Eloim disappeared but his family never gave up trying to find him. A tip leads them look not where in the world for him but when.

Eloim is in his own personal hell, Medieval Britain. All clothing and footwear is made for purpose and comfort and there are no boutiques in which a stylish Vampire can buy something more suitable as the name of the game is to fit in until he can get home.
With the demon Alexia his constant companion he searches for a way to travel through time and back to his family.

Love this novella series and this installment showed me more of Eloim as a character and person than just a slave to fashion. Thought the scenes of his feeding and violence were great for the story as he is a Vampire and their certainly not purring kittens. If you read Glenns fb page you'll know his view on the "pretty" Vampires.

Not going to spoil it but the hint of Polly makes me very excited for future stories in this series.
