4.0 out of 5 stars Great fun, 22 Dec. 2007
Both myself and my girlfriend play this together and it is great fun. Its simple enough but has its challenges. The tasks are different but one criticism is that all the levels start to feel repetitive after a while. We've had a great time playing and would definitely recommend as a game which appeals to a broad range of gamers - both male and female. If you want a game which is challenging yet straight forward for fun with all then buy this game. Ideal for families, kids or people with mixed experience in gaming.... oh and those who love lego and star wars!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great, 1 Dec. 2007
This review is from: FIFA 08 (PS3) (Video Game)
A very good game which I have just about got to grips with as I am traditionally a Pro Evo fan. My frustration is that I find the navigation quite slow and confusing. Also, you cannot play a world cup which for me is a massive miss. Some of the player ratings are criminal (cesc fabregas) but overall a thoroughly enjoyable game. I am hooked so it cant be all bad. The visuals are strong, the slower pace makes for a more composed, realistic and challenging game. The physics are really good and the commentary ok. So far so good....

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok - but not great, 28 Nov. 2007
There were some aspects which were pretty good but fairly standard e.g maps and information around locations of various places of interest. But when it came to descriptions of the various places, its almost like the writer is on commission. Constant over hyping of places, those that we could find or that were still in business!! Greeks are really friendly - sorry but they were not. Like most of the med they tolerated us. We went to some of the recommended restaurants but they were either not in the location or had been closed down. As a very topline guide its ok (some useful info around the transport system) but I would not follow its entertainment reco's closely. Also, 2 key things for all those going to Greece 1; its very expensive since the Euro introduction 2; the people are not very friendly and 3; make sure you get your metro ticket validated or you will get a £50 (60 euro) fine. They are merciless even if you have a ticket so make sure you put it through the machine to be stamped before you go on the train.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great comedy not done justice, 20 Nov. 2007
Another review I did recently on the Only Fools collection is pretty much an echoe of the one I find myself writing now. The show itself is superb, right through from series one, set in medieval times, through to the WW1 setting in the fourth series. R.A and co are superb throughout with my faourite series being the third. Also, the finale of series four is breath taking and superbly done. The writing throughout is top draw, casting/acting superb but yet again the beeb has been sloppy when bringing a great series to DVD. Visuals and sound are no better than when it was on video. This is a major school boy and typical of how the BBC continue to churn out classic series with no real benefit in quality or content. Very disappointed that they cannot put more thought and effort into what they release and rely on the strenght of the franchise. Worth buying if you dont own as it is sheer genius.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great series, 19 Nov. 2007
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The first series always have a lasting magic and this is certainly true of Red Dwarf. The fact that the DVD version is not loaded with the very poorly done CGI that was applied after is great. The chemistry between the characters is there from the off, casting superb, special effects are creative and low budget (but its the low budget that brings out the best). Everything about Red Dwarf series one oozes creative and writing genius. Such a great cult series and a must for any brit com lovers DVD collection. Buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Band of Brilliance, 18 Nov. 2007
This is an absolutely superb series. Delivered brilliantly, its very difficult to know where to start. The visuals are awesome, the writing is outstanding, acting is superb and the entire series is gripping. Set in WW2 following easy company through various scenarios/missions and settings. Its clear that massive effort has gone into this series producing a truly world class end product. There is a range of scenery, each shot brilliantly. There is not, in my opinion, an over reliance on CGI and it feels unbelievably real. This box set is a snip at £35 and would make anyone interested in this type of genre a very happy individual. I would imagine that most dads in particular would find this a welcome addition to the DVD rack. Buy it as it is money well spent.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good film, 18 Nov. 2007
This review is from: Knocked Up [DVD] (DVD)
This film has had a similar impact to marmite - some love it some hate it. I really enjoyed this film. It had everything you would expect in terms of gags which were a bit predictable but still very very funny. The plot was not rocket science but did the job. I must admit that when I saw the leading actors on screen for the first time I was not convinced but actually they turned out to be seriously good. The humour, emotion and moments of drama are delivered very well and it has a real feel good factor about it so its definitely worth watching if you are prepared not to take it too seriously like I fear some viewers have. Worth buying buying if rom coms are your bag - especially as a stocking filler.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good film, 18 Nov. 2007
Very disappointed to see a previous reviewer did not like this film. If you are not a fan of teen comedies then why would you go to see one, let alone review it. A very good film which rightly got and continues to get strong reviews. If 25 is old then I may have to start thinking about retirement. The cast are very strong with some great performances by the lead. Mclovin and co deliver some great lines and provided you dont take this film, yourself or its genre too seriously you will enjoy. Its storyline is nothing new or ground breaking but does not profess to be so. There are plenty of gags, which are actually pitched to different age groups and done well so. Its definitely worth buying as a stockin filler in the lead up to christmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Superb, 18 Nov. 2007
Having read some of the other reviews there is a common feeling that the game is way too short. I share that feeling in part but this is more than compensated for by the sheer brilliance of the game play. Its absolutely fantastic in every area. Visually its stunning, the attention to detail is incredible and the game is constantly at an intense pace which for me sets it appart from other games I have played recently. I thought that Ghost Recon 2 was good but this blows that away. I got the same feeling I had when I first played the original ghost recon many years ago on the PC. Only other thing I would add is a multiplayer split screen on the campaign which would have been useful but thats being picky. Also, really enjoyed the bonus level for completing. Rarely do I label a game world class but this game qualifies for that. Its a giant leap forward in FPS and I look forward to any additions that come along. Buy it buy it buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very very good film - worth buying, 13 Nov. 2007
I did not know anything about Larry Flynt prior to watching this film - I'm afriad the porn industry is not a special interest of mine!! However, this was a really good film and a very powerful interesting insight into a taboo area. The story of the man who founded Hustler, faced off christian organisations and survived assassination attempts is certainly entertaining and there are some stella performances from Courtney Love, Woody H. and Ed Norton tackling some incredibly relevant and difficult issues. The fact it is based on a true account of events makes it all the more interesting. This is definitely worth buying and I would recommend it to all serious film lovers.
