4.0 out of 5 stars HUGE!!!, 4 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is one of the biggest star wars vehicles I have ever seen. When I ordered it I didn't realise how big it was, it must be nearly 2 feet in length. It comes with 20 battle droids, 16 are on a base and they stand in the automatic troop dispenser on the front. the other 4 don't have a base and can be positioned anywhere else on the vehicle. Also included is an obi wan kenobi figure with a lightsaber. The vehicle makes lots of noises and the troop carrier goes in and out on the front. The vehicle does require a little bit of assembly which isn't too much of a problem and there are a few small fiddly stickers to attach. The other reviews on this page say that the droids are quite fragile which is true but I bought this vehicle for display purposes which I think it should be for. I personally would not pay 149.99 for it but when I bought it, it was only 45.00 on amazon which was a steal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Even without colour, spawn is still awesome, 30 Jan 2013

This review is from: Spawn Compendium 1 (Paperback)
This huge compendium collects the first 50 issues of spawn by Todd Mcfarlane. They have been reprinted in black and white, which might put some people off but I advise you not to be. Even though there is no colour it is the amazing artwork and the story which stands out. I am a fan of the walking dead which is also in black and white and that is still an amazing comic. I have never read spawn so I decided to buy this compendium which is a lot cheaper tham buying all the other collections individually. The story of how soldier Al Simmons is killed by a member of his own team and ends up in hell, where a demon tricks him into being one of his soldiers, a hellspawn blew me away and I was kept hooked all the way through. I can't wait for the next one!.

This is a huge hulk figure standing at 9 inches tall. He is incredibly detailed. He has a snarling face, bulging muscles and veins popping out of his body. The articulation on the arms and legs is really good and he can be posed in a variety of ways. The great thing about this figure is he also comes with a base to stand on which looks like a pile of rubble. This means he stands up well and looks really cool on a shelf. As with all marvel select figures this isn't really intended for children but for adult collectors. This hulk figure is one of the best i've seen and is well worth the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for an adult collector, 24 July 2012

This is a VERY large incredible hulk figure based on the actor mark ruffalos portrayal in the avengers movie. He stands at a good 9 inches tall and is very detailed, especially on the face and muscles. He stands up well on his own, but his legs and feet needed to be straightened when he came out of the box beacuse he was a bit wobbly when put on my shelf. Once you have straightened them up correctly he stands tall and very sturdy. A word of warning though, his joints are very stiff when first taken out of the box. I cringed every time i had to move his arms and legs because i feared they would come off in my hand, but as long as you are careful you won't have any problems. This means that it isn't a toy but a collectable figure meant to be displayed and enjoyed by adults. One other thing, it took me twenty minutes to get him out of the box, this was because he was held in place by some plastic ties which were tied VERY tightly. But after a bit of swearing he managed to pop out without any trouble.

5.0 out of 5 stars Robin:"you're out of your mind joker!" Joker: "gloriously so. Isn't it wonderful?"., 27 April 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is a complete history of the greatest comic book villain of all time: the joker. it comes beautifully bound in a hardback cover with the jokers menacing grin on the front. it explores his entire history and origin from his debut in 1940 to the performance by the tragic heath ledger in the dark knight, and his appearance in the video game arkham asylum. for years the joker has astounded, entertained and horrified comic book and film fans, yet he was only supposed to be a one shot character in 1940 and actually dies at the end of his first comic, but luckily one of the DC writers realised what a great character he was and saved him at the last minute. the book explores all of his best stories and his numerous run ins with batman and contains some wonderful comic artwork both old and new. even if you don't feel like reading the text there are so many pictures, sketches and artwork to browse through you may not notice the hours flying by. it also contains an introduction by mark hamill who, apart from playing luke skywalker in star wars, has also voiced the joker in more cartoons and video games than any other actor. the authors have done a great job with this book and i have to say it sits proudly on my bookshelf and has become one of my favourites.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best, 27 Feb 2012
This review is from: Blood On The Tracks (Audio CD)
Blood on the tracks is one of my favourite albums ever. i have always been a bob dylan fan and this is rightly regarded as one of his best albums. it was written at the time of his divorce and is filled with heartbreaking and angry songs in equal measure. songs like simple twist of fate, you're a big girl now and if you see her say hello, you can hear the sadness and sorrow in dylans voice as he sings about a lost love. he also has angry songs on this album detailing the love/hate relationship that people share with other. when this album came out in 1975 dylans work was on the downslide, his last couple of albums weren't exactly classics. this album showed the world that he still had it, even now if he releases a new album it is called "the best since blood on the tracks". the fact that he recorded the album then at the last minute decided to rerecord the whole lot shows you the perfectionist that dylan is, and i for one am happy that he did. an essential album for any music fan who loves proper songwriting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book, 27 Feb 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
i am fairly new to graphic novels so was wondering where to start. i had heard good things about the walking dead tv show and when i found out it was a book, decided i had to read it.in the shops this book was 45.00 so i was overjoyed to find out the book was only 25.00 on amazon. it arrived really quickly and was wrapped very well. the story starts with police officer rick grimes waking up in hospital after being in a coma. the hospital is deserted and he has a terrifying encounter with some zombies. he then proceeds to try and find other survivors and to also search for his wife and kids who have gone missing. the story grabs you right at the start as you are also wondering what has happened. as rick finds other survivors he begins to realise what a dangerous world it now is, with zombies everywhere and all the big cities overun. all the while he is searching for a truly safe place to stay, but you begin to wonder if there is one. i was a bit concerned that at over 1000 pages the story may start to drag or lose its way but it doesn't, it has you hooked from start to finish. in between the zombie slaying action, you see the human side of the survivors and find out more about their lives and situations. i was also uncertain about the black and white artwork but it really works and some of the scenes are breathtaking and horrifying. i would strongly recommend this book to anyone who has just started with graphic novels or has been reading them for a long time.

4.0 out of 5 stars what might have been, 5 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book gives you the inside story on every one of jimi hendrix songs. every original song on Are you experienced?, axis: bold as love, electric ladyland and band of gypsys plus all his hidden, unreleased or half finished songs. it gives detailed informaton on all his classics: foxy lady, purple haze, voodoo child, stone free, little wing and many more. By the end of the book you get the feeling that hendrix was only just starting and makes you think what might of been had he not died tragically early at twenty seven. He was doing things that no one else was at the time like overdubbing, backwards guitars and vocals, even with the limited technology in the sixties. Even todays bands are copying his techniques. Who knows how far he would of taken music and recording. If there was no hendrix there would be no slash, jimmy page or any other guitarist doing amazing solos because they were all influenced by hendrix and even admit to trying to mimic him. The fact is music would be a worse place without him and in my opinion still is.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great start for a new dylan fan, 5 Jan 2012
When you listen to this album for the first time you will be amazed that it is only bob dylans second album. It is packed with classics that dylan still performs live today: Blowin in the wind, masters of war, hard rains a gonna fall and don't think twice it's alright. This album proves that bob dylan is the greatest songwriter of all time. He veers from angry protest songs like masters of war to beautiful tender songs like girl from the north country. A hard rains a gonna fall is in my opinion one of the best songs ever written. it is full of apocalyptic, end of the world imagery and the near seven minutes running time flies by as you get lost in his dark storytelling. you would think that he had been writing songs all his life but he was only in his early twenties when this was released. An essential album for any true music fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars best simpsons book ever, 28 Feb 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have been a simpsons fan... forever. I think i have seen almost every single episode at least once, but this book has told me things i didn't know. When it arrived i could barely lift the box. When i got it open i found over 1000 pages detailing every single simpsons episode ever made. All the best jokes, cameo appearances by celebrities, all the couch gags, plot summaries and so much more.It comes in a beautiful bound cover inside a hardcover box.I was astounded how much information was inside and i count myself as a simpsons fan. If i read this book for an hour a day every day, i would still be reading it in 20 years time. An essential purchase for any diehard simpsons fan especially at such a good price. One word of warning though, don't drop it on your foot!! it is a seriously weighty book.
