5.0 out of 5 stars FRESH CREAM, 10 Feb. 2004
I have read this about three times now and it is very good indeed. For someone like me who grew up in the 50's/60's it is a nostalgic trip back to British blues/rock music's roots. Mr.Welch is obviously an accomplished biographer as well as a good music "newshound". Plenty of anecdotes and interview archive. As well as being very nostalgic for me, it would be a very good study for younger people to see how rock got to where it is now. For better or worse!!! Also there are many very fine photos, some will give you a chuckle over the hair/clothes styles.

5.0 out of 5 stars it's me again, 6 Feb. 2004
This review is from: Live Cream Volume II (Audio CD)
LIKE VOL.1 THIS ALBUM IS AWESOME. RAW, PURE ROCK ENERGY. I BOUGHT THIS WHEN IT FIRST SURFACED @ 1971 AND HAVE WORN IT OUT. SO THE CD WAS A GOOD ALTERNATIVE! FOR A 60's "LIVE" ALBUM I THINK THE RECORDING IS QUITE GOOD. NO ONE CAME ANYWHERE NEAR THIS TRIO FOR ROCKIN' POWER!! THIS IS THE ROOTS OF BRITISH ROCK, SO GET IT!!! "STEPPIN' OUT" IS OVERLONG?? NOT TO AN OLD HIPPY/ROCKER LIKE ME(YEAH SAD!) oL' "CLAPPERS" SURE KNOWS HOW TO CRANK A WAH-WAH. BAKERS DRUMMING IS A MASSIVE DRIVING FORCE ON THE WHOLE ALBUM AND BRUCE'S VOCALS ARE WHAT "REAL" ROCK SINGING IS ALL ABOUT....TIME TO GET OUT THE "JD" AGAIN!!!
LET ME SEE NOW, WHERE ARE MY FLARES AND BEADS!

5.0 out of 5 stars GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN!!, 6 Feb. 2004

WHAT CAN YOU SAY(OR WRITE) ABOUT CREAM THAT HASN'T ALREADY BEEN STATED. TAKE NO NOTICE OF DETRACTORS AND FALSE PROPHETS OF TODAY. THIS BAND WERE "IT"!!! THEY INVENTED ROCK AND THIS ALBUM SHOWS YOU HOW. ALRIGHT THE TIMING ON "NSU" IS A BIT OUT IN PLACES, SO WHAT, THEY KICKED ASS BIG TIME. THREE MAESTROS STRUTTING THEIR STUFF. BEWARE OF CHEAP IMITATORS. CREAM CREATE A WALL OF SOUND ON THIS ALBUM THAT HAS NEVER BEEN BETTERED. LONG SOLOS AND IMPROVISATION ARE WHAT THIS LIVE ALBUM IS ALL ABOUT....GOOD..'COS THEY WERE GOOD!!
BUY IT, GET A BOTTLE OF "JD", STICK YOUR HEADPHONES ON, CRANK IT UP AND DRIFT AWAY. THERE AIN'T NOTHING OR NO ONE LIKE THEM TODAY!!
