2.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate Edition Disappointment., 31 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
£11.93 for the Ultimate Edition game, a two part DLC pack, the sequel AND a demo for the third game? Bargain, right? WRONG! Castlevania is a popular longstanding series that has a strong following. This trashy God of War rip-off is the first instalment in the corporate reboot of the series, and what a poor attempt that was.

This game is a collection of almost every negative trait a video game could possibly have. It borrows influence from the Zelda series as it lulls along at a lacklustre pace through irritating puzzle platforms, only to dump you into anti-climactic, scripted boss battles. It has little replay value other than to complete the trials, of which are tedious and only offer a frustrating experience of grinding for the sake of Achievements. The fixated camera angles are an example of poor camera management and often display the game's confusion as to whether it should be 3D or 2D. Unfortunately the poor camera is central to almost every other letdown. It heavily affects traversing the environment as alongside the awkward controls (double tap left stick to sprint), it causes annoying and cheap deaths in-and-outside of combat.

Its only two saving graces are its pretty interesting story and fun combat system, which also is flawed thanks to Quick Time Events. QTE's are the single most saturated action mechanic to ruin games since God of War popularised it in 2005. Rather than watching a nicely choreographed cinematic with satisfaction after skilfully beating that boss, you're forced to press the right buttons at the right time or your victory is stolen away from you.

The DLC is worse than the main game. It's short and depends on cheap comic book-looking animations to fill in why this add-on is in any way relevant to the primary narrative. As for the gameplay, its all over the place. There's simply too many weird 3D-2D hybrid puzzles and platforming scenarios, with not enough combat to balance the headmelt. The levels often go from being too easy into absurd difficulty spikes, mostly because of the trials - and that's just for Reverie. Resurrection is simply just a single, long-winded, two part OP boss battle that is a chore to endure. Not bothering with Mirror of Fate as gameplay videos depict more of this nonsensical balderdash.

All that I can say about this has already been said by others. Sculpt, paint job and accessories are all perfect. A great homage to the original Jungle Hunter.

GET IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful surprise!, 9 May 2012
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
I initially only bought this for the sake of the masked version City Hunter and didn't care much for the Cloaked Berserker, but I was pleasantly surprised.

1. First thing's first, the packaging is MUCH better than other Prefator figures. Whereas they are in an easily damaged blister card (cardboard back) with plastic display window glued to the front, this two pack comes in a clamshell box (everything is a clear plastic with the display card inside). As a result it is much more durable, great for those who like to keep their figures in the box, like me.

2. The figures themselves are immaculately sculpted with a near perfectly detailed paint job. The netting pattern on City Hunter is immaculate. The Berserker was the real surprise. I thought i wasnt going to like this figure too much as im not a fan if the cloaked thing. But the all-black colouration with some translucent parts made this version look much more menacing than the standard masked and unmasked variants. This figure makes his movie nickname "Mr. Black" so ironically appropriate.

3. Finally the accessories are what makes this product stand apart from other NECA Prefators. You get 2 translucent wristblades for the Berserker and a backdrop to make use of the camouflaged colouring. There's also a Predator skull, a human skull/spine, a smart disc and two combo sticks (spears) one extended for battle, thr other retracted. These are mostly the City Hunters but of course are interchangeable with any Predator that can hold them.

This is a must for any NECA Prefator collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely amazing., 15 Aug 2011
I bought this Wireless Router specifically for online gaming on the Xbox 360. It does this absolutely perfectly, I've only ever been disconnected once and I've had Xbox Live for a few weeks now. The rotuer multitasks very well, as I was able to play online, go on my mobile internet and my sister went on her laptop all at once, and I didn't even get any lag. It was a breeze to set up, took about 20 minutes in total (including setting up Xbox Live). Considering it's fantastic performance and amazing price, this is easily the best wireless router on the market.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great figurine., 3 Mar 2011
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
Like all Neca toys their main appeal is the tremendous amount of detail put into the figures. You take one look at the colouring (especially the red cross on Dante's chest) you'll instantly appreciate it. One thing I have to criticise this figure for is its lack of articulartion, it's rather bulky and clumsy. I haven't taken mine out of the box for display reasons (so its articulation doesn't overly matter to me), though you can see that there are only a few articulation points on this figure. Though overall that's not really an issue. Another great aspect of this figure is the giant scythe. Like the figure itself it is super detailed and beautifully made. This figure will look great on any shelf, I recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!, 3 Mar 2011
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
As usual the quality of Neca figures is exquisite, and in my opinion, this figure of Ryu hayabusa is their best yet. The colouring is so fine and detailed that it almost looks like real skin! It comes with Ryu's signature Dragon Sword, a set of massive tonfas from the Ninja Gaiden 2 game, and despite what the previous comment said about not receiving any throwing daggers, my figure did (they're already in their holders on Ryu's left leg). Another excellent aspect of the figure is its superb articulation, 32 points of it! Though I have yet to take mine out of the box, for even the packaging of this item is brilliantly presentable, I can look right through the display casing and can see all the articulation points - making it one of the most poseable figures ever made. I 100% recommend this item to any collector, fan of Ninja Gaiden, or even just a video game nut! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Skull-crushingly superior!, 11 July 2010
These headphones are just amazing. If one word to describe them is 'PERFECT'. They're not too expensive either when compared to other top selling headphones such as Sanheiser. And they are the exact same quality too! The sound on them is nice and loud, the noise cancellation is top notch, they feel soft comfortable while wearing them, they look cool and have a nice black and white design. But that's not even the best part. The best thing about these headphones is that they actually vibrate on your head! And that is no ecaggeration, there's a bass/vibration adjuster that increase the quality of the music.

BUY THESE!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, not great., 30 May 2010
It's better than average because it actually does it's job. Disappointing thing is that I thought this Tripod would be taller. While filming I found that alot of the time I just had to take the camera off the tripod and film hand-held, because if you're wanting to do something like an ECU of a face or something, this Tripod was like 3/4 of the height of my actor.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very ambiguous., 29 May 2010
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
You do get 10 x 37ml tubes of paint, however not as they appear in the picture. The image leads you to believe that the white is larger in size, and that you get a small bottle of liquin/linseed oil with it. You don't. I was disappointed that I didn't recieve what I had hoped for. But overall i'm happy enough with what paints I did get, they work very well, especially on cavas. These are the colours that came in the box.

#8 Cadmium Yellow Pale Hue
#6 Cadmium Red Deep Hue
#21 French Ultramarine
#30 Phthalo Blue
#48 Permanent Green Light
#43 Viridian Hue
#44 Yellow Ochre
#2 Burnt Sienna
#24 Ivory Black
#4 Titanium White

Would recommend if you're looking for a decent palette of oil paints, just don't expect any extra white or a bottle of liquin like the picture suggests, you'll need to buy those seperately.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT!, 29 May 2010
Really excellent analysis of the film. It's consise, straight to the point and meaningful. It cuts the waffle and gets straight to the narrative importance, cinematic techniques etc. By reading this I knew exactly what to say and how to say it in my Moving Image Arts exam.
PERFECT for anyone studying Chungking Express.
Highly recommended.
