4.0 out of 5 stars Evilspeak - Listen to the amusing German audio!, 21 Aug. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
First of all, this is the longest version of the film with dialog. (Lots of dialog is missing from the "complete" USA Anchor Bay DVD). It has all the gore - which is the same as the shorter USA DVD. Also, This is a German release with both optional English or German audio. Nice print, in my opinion. Now to the film, Stanley Coopersmith (Clint Howard)is an orphan and lodged in "Westover Military Academy", which is not not a very hospitable place as he is constantly bullied by his peers.
Anyhow, on punishment duty he is forced to clean the school chapel's basement.
Is is there that he discovers a walled-in chamber - where a satanic priest named Estaban founded the hidden room some few centuries before. Anyway, to make a long story short (and this review), by the middle of the film Stanley uses Estaban's magic with the aid of the school computer to exact revenge on his ruthless bullies (not to mention some sadistic teachers, and a self-rightious priest). This creates some hellishly incredible violence, and the revenge-filled finale so shocking, gruesome, but yet satisfying that will free Stanley for all time. This film had allot of censorship problems when released (espescially in the UK) I give it a 9/10, and Clint Howard gives a solid performance. Gorehounds will also find this worth their while. There are 2 different "complete" versions of this release - the shorter version missing dialog for pacing reasons but with all the gore, and the longer print (such as this nice release from Germany) which also contains all the gore but with lots more dialog. Collectors will probably want both.

4.0 out of 5 stars Effective little shocker., 17 Dec. 2010
This review is from: Slayer (Beyond Terror) [DVD] (DVD)
"The Slayer" is something of a curiosity for the horror lover in all of us. It's entertaining, the sets are creepy (an island with a deserted 1920's cinema, large ominous house, etc )and the gore is well done, which earned itself a spot on the original DPP Video Nasties list. Let me tell you though that the gore is not extremely intense in that it should be banned, but I must admit that the pitchfork murder was a quilty pleasure (a scene snipped from the original Vipco VHS release). I don't have the space to write a whole sypnosis of the film, but let me tell those of you horror-hounds who wan't to see it, I say: "A horror film from the 80's, uncut version, very atmospheric and good-gory fun". #Check the trailer on You Tube.

3.0 out of 5 stars Slugs: The Movie (1988), 22 Sept. 2010
This review is from: Slugs [DVD] (DVD)
Finally, Uncut in the UK. This super gory film (and also at times pretty ridiculous)
is brought to you from boulevard Ent. A very gruesome and sometimes nausiating film.
The scene in the restaurant when the fluke-worms explodes from the man's head belongs in any gorehounds DVD collection. Believe me, it does deserve it's 18 classification. Directed by Juan Piquer Simon, director of 1983's sickening classic- PIECES. If you've seen that film you probobly know what to expect...

5.0 out of 5 stars Five stars for the film. 5 stars for this print and extras from Arrow., 26 July 2010
This release of "City" is without doubt the best print of the film I have ever seen. With extras to die for, plus a collector's booklet, lobby cards and your choice of four cover inserts, I have 3 words of advice: GRAB IT NOW!
Picture quality is top-notch, from the highest quality negitives.
Note: The DVD Version of this Fulci classic contains 2-discs.
The Blu-ray has an up-graded 7.0 master soundtrack and consists of 1 disc.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing great but good if you like more than one versions in your collection., 16 Jun. 2010

Good collection. But don't be fooled into thinking that in this "New" Boxset contains the Uncut version of Fulci's Zombie Flesh Eaters - as it's the old "Extreme version" with very small, and Un-noticeable (probably to anyone who sees this film for the first time) - snips with 2 seconds to the eye splinter scene, and about 10 secs to the zombies feasting on Paola Menards body. All thanks to the opressive censors hands at the BBFC! Why they didn't pass this Uncut back in '99 puzzells me.
The other movies contained in this set, well - Zombie Flesh Eaters 2: this print is shortened with dialog, I recommend that you obtain the US disc under the original title of Zombi 3, from shriek show/media blasters as it is the longest known version available.
Zombie Flesh Eaters 3: A very nice print of aka Zombi 4: Afterdeath, in nice PAL quality and with a nice slight LBX ratio of approx - 1.66, although their is aparrently a longer version out their with extra dialog scenes, this still makes for a good edition.
Zombi Holocaust (as an extra disc) is the same as the old Stonevision Ent. release.
I'm not saying to avoid this collection, because I usually have more than one version of a good horror/cult title in my collection.
