Macbeth, dir. Roman Polanski (1971), 26 Mar. 2013
A good rendering of The Scottish Play: it's part of the Open University Shakespeare course this year, to be compared with the original text. Polanski firmly believes that there are evil events, not necessarily evil people, who might act otherwise in different circumstances (he draws on his own experiences with The Warsaw Ghetto and the Manson Murders). Fast-moving and mostly shot outdoors.
