5.0 out of 5 stars Good protein shake, 8 April 2013

I already ordered the large size of this and was sent USN Pure Protein GF-1 instead. This product is much better and I would much prefer the large size but find when I check my order it has been changed as above so beware. The smaller size works out more expensive but it is the one I prefer. It is easy to mix and tastes well. Modesty prevents me discussing the results. I take it after workouts mostly but also occasionally before workouts or runs.

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointing, 6 April 2013
This review is from: The Queen's Confidante (Paperback)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
This story is set during the reign of Henry V11. His wife Queen Elizabeth summons chandler Varina Wescott to the court to make wax images of her dead children and dead brothers (the Princes in the tower). When Prince Arthur dies Varina is asked to go with courtier Nicholas Sutton to investigate the Prince's death. Notes at the end of the book indicate that it is as much a novel of mystery and suspense as it is a novel of history and romance. The mysteries are a) was Prince Arthur murdered and b) who killed the Princes her brothers. I liked her solution to that one but felt no real suspense.
Her descriptions of court and fashion are excellent. She uses Varina to demonstrate the role of women in 19 Century England. However I did not feel comfortable reading this book. The story line was just not believable. The dialogue, which was over dramatic, alternated between the queen and Varina which made the book rather disjointed. I know that the death of a child is harrowing but I did not get a true sense of the women's grief. I have always believed that Elizabeth was fond of Richard so her attitude to him and the Yorkists was quite a surprise. I really felt that the picture painted about Elizabeth was nothing like anything I had read before I have read other Karen Harper books and have enjoyed them but this one just did not live up to expectations.

4.0 out of 5 stars really liked this book, 5 April 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
This is a good well written story. Wild boy Cody Dalton flees from the small town of Sugar Springs leaving behind many unresolved issues. The author describes much better than I can the response of the town to Cody's return so I quote
" The men around town still thought he was the wild boy he'd been years ago and the women only hoped he was"
One of the major unresolved issues Cody had run from was his relationship with Lee Ann London. Now a vet, Cody is surprised to learn that Lee Ann has not taken up the college scholarship she had earned. He is even more surprised to learn that although still single she has twin girls. Can Cody rekindle his passion with Lee Ann? Will the small town gossip mills help or hinder him in his quest? The storyline is pleasant and involves a small ordinary town with ordinary people and events that could take place anywhere, yet the author has managed to turn it into an excellent and very touching study of commitment and relationships, by clever use of words and superb turn of phrase (as evidenced by the above quote)
The characters are all very likeable and oh so very human. You really want to know them. It is a very easy to read book which keeps you turning the pages but then you feel sorry when it is finished. You want more, always a sign of a good book. I really enjoyed it and will search out more work by Kim Law.

5.0 out of 5 stars very good family story, 29 Mar 2013

This is much more than a love story. It is a study of relationships between family and between lovers. the plot is a strong one with lots of twists and turns. The characters are believable and likable. Lily is absolutely adorable and very sensitively dealt with. Christina is the main character. She has a successful business and family life which comes crashing down when her father dies. Christina must suffer one shock after another. She straddles between Chicago and Magdalena as she gradually reshapes her life. It is sad and poignant at times. It also has a tender humour. Although a little slow to start it gradually pulls you in until you must find out what happens. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Will look for more from Mary Campisi.

4.0 out of 5 stars an excellent start to an exciting trilogy, 27 Mar 2013
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
this story is set amongst the feuding clans of 12th Century Scotland. The plot is a strong one with strong captivating characters. Mairin Stuart is the illegimate daughter of a king and Niece to King David. Neamh Alainn is her inheritance which would give great power to any clan into which she marries. Abducted by the cruel Cameron laird she escapes and takes with her another captive, Crispen the son of Laird Ewan Mc Cabe. Ewan Mc Cabe is a powerful man who is repairing his army and home. He really needs the legacy. Ewan is strong, with a short temper. Aislinn is fiery and independent. Can a marriage between them be possible? Is Aislinn what the clan needs? Is she more trouble than she is worth? The story is exciting, sometimes brutal and also at times amusing. There are some scenes when I wished ****** had been used but I suppose it lives up to its title. I really enjoyed it.

3.0 out of 5 stars rather too much para normal, 25 Mar 2013
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have loved all Deveraux's books but I must admit this one disappointed me. Darci continues to search for her husband but also is involved in the search for FBI agent Jack's father. To do this Darci and Jack must travel through time. The beginning of the book was wonderful. You felt the sparks fly between Darci and Jack and all the other characters were realistic. It was a fast moving tale. Sadly this changed with the Time Travel. The pace was slower and the characters seemed to have no personality. It was quite tedious to read and by the end I honestly couldnt care if she found Adam or not.It seemed to me that the book was just padded out with oddities. Very disappointing end to what was a very promising trilogy

3.0 out of 5 stars well researched rich in detail, 24 Mar 2013

This is a well researched and well written biography of Richard 111 concentrating on his early life before he became King. It demonstrates well his ability as a soldier and his bravery and loyalty. I am pro Richard so was pleased to read of his good points for a change. I had a little difficulty at times to believe it was facts as too often the author seemed to rely on Richard's thoughts. How could she possibly know. I found too that it got a bit heavy at times and the mire of detail left me bewildered. Nevertheless I was glad to read of his early life as we too often forget just how he suffered and how young he was.

4.0 out of 5 stars delightful escapism, 24 Mar 2013

This is an entirely different type of book to the wonderful longstanding Dynasty series by Ms Harrod Eagles which is steeped in well researched history but her gift for description and wonderful characterisation is still very much in evidence. It is set in the 18th Century at the time of the French Revolution. Eugenie moves from a pampered and luxurious life in Paris to a poverty stricken life? in London so as to escape the guillotine. The aunt of the Earl of St Osyth takes her in.She tries to enjoy her life in London but the shadow of the guillotine still hangs over her. Can the Earl help keep her safe. There are great description of Paris, London ballrooms and fashion and life in the great country houses. She meets many great characters on her travels. They all come to life under the pen of CHE. It is a very light undemanding read. Ideal for holiday travel or bedtime.

4.0 out of 5 stars great story line, 24 Mar 2013
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I liked this unusual story. It was a little slow to start with but soon drew you in. The story line as a strong one set in a background of a boxing gym. Older overweight woman and younger man are thrown together when he becomes her trainer.
Both have past relationships who won't remain in the past and that added to the age gap presents many problems. It is sensitively written and the characters are very good. Roni and Noah are the lead characters. One immediately feels sorry for Roni but Noah's vulnerability is slower to surface. There are many other good characters that are integral to the plot. Suitable for beach or bedtime reading as it is very readable.

5.0 out of 5 stars two great stories, 23 Mar 2013
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book contains 2 very good stories. Both are easy to read, have good story lines and lovely characters but both very different.
The Midwife's Marriage Proposal.
Tom and Sally had a relationship some years ago but Tom had broken it off leaving Sally heartbroken and she moves away.Sally returns as a midwife to the hospital where Tom is an Obstetrician. How can sally cope when they have to work together. The midwifery part is well and authentically written with not too many technical terms to worry about. Yes it is idealistic so much so that I wished I could have had Tom and Sally deliver my babies However when writing about childbirth I think you need all the sweetness you can get. Added to that problem was the fact that they are both members of Mountain Rescue. The adventures there are gripping and exciting. Amongst this how can Sally resist Tom's attempts to get back to her particularly when he is aided by friends and family.A lovely immensely readable story that can read anywhere anytime.
Blind date marriage
This is a nice story. I wasn't sure at first as I read it straight after the lovely first one. The characters are great and realistic. The story centres round Jake and Serena. Both have quite a past. Can they work round that to find love. It is more than a love story and weaves through music, teenage problems, dropouts and addictions. You are caught up quickly and remain interested throughout the story. Very readable and suitable for those who like romance and family stories.
