Kingavon BB-RT357 12-LED Desk Lamp
Kingavon BB-RT357 12-LED Desk Lamp
Price: £3.99

4.0 out of 5 stars A good value portable desk lamp, 23 Oct 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
My wife often gives lectures and sometimes doesn't have enough light to read her notes. So she can now take this with her to provide the necessary illumination, without needing an electrical socket to plug it in.

It is not quite as big as envisaged, but for what it cost it is quite adequate and is light and portable to carry around.

For a desk lamp the beam angle is a bit narrower and it could do with having a wider spread, but it provides a good bright light.

It also came with a USB connecting lead, so it could be run from a notebook computer, but in practice it is simpler just to use three AA batteries.

All round a nice inexpensive portable desk lamp.

4.0 out of 5 stars OK for the price, but not the best, 22 Oct 2014

These are ok for what I wanted, but the output is quite limited and the sound quality is not wonderful.

For what they cost they are ok and provide enough output when listening to speech from my tablet computer, which has a useless speakers, while sitting on the sofa.

The cables are also rather short.

The Explanation of Low Energy Nuclear Reaction: An Examination of the Relationship Between Observation and Explanation
The Explanation of Low Energy Nuclear Reaction: An Examination of the Relationship Between Observation and Explanation
Price: £16.01

5.0 out of 5 stars Full of information on LENR, but a hard read unless you are a nuclear chemist, 21 Oct 2014
I bought the paper back directly from Infinite Energy Press, but pleased to see it is now available through Amazon, if only as a Kindle edition.

I found it readable, but very technical, and your really need to be a nuclear chemist, like Storms, to properly understand it.

Only being an engineer, much went over my head, but the overall issues are clear enough, if you skim over the technical detail.

It could really do with a bit more explanation of the technicalities to help us more ordinary mortals understand it better. A glossary of terms would be a great help.

It is packed full of valuable information, but to really get the best from it you would need to read it several times.

Storms has his own pet theory about how LENR works, which he claims occurs in small cracks in the material surface, but I don't entirely buy this, but time will tell.

I also have Storms first book "THE SCIENCE OF LOW ENERGY NUCLEAR REACTION: A COMPREHENSIVE COMPILATION OF EVIDENCE AND EXPLANATIONS ABOUT COLD FUSION", which now costs about £50, but have not yet read that.

What is now quite clear is that LENR, or cold fusion, works, as shown by recent independent tests of the Rossi E-Cat and lots of other evidence. The book about E-Cat and Rossi, "An Impossible Invention", by Matts Lewin, is much less technical and far more readable. It is also now available for Kindle through Amazon, or in paper back directly from the author in Sweden.

An Impossible Invention: The True Story of the Energy Source that Could Change the World
An Impossible Invention: The True Story of the Energy Source that Could Change the World

5.0 out of 5 stars A really fascinating book about the E-Cat cold fusion reactor, 21 Oct 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is the first Kindle book I have fully read. Previously I only had a Kindle reader on my notebook computer, which is cumbersome and inconvenient. It was much less expensive to install the free Kindle app on my 10inch Android tablet, rather than pay £200 for a 7inch Kindle Fire.

It is available in paperback, directly from the author in Sweden, for 255SEK (£22), but it was much easier and cheaper, £6.30, for the Kindle edition. This is particularly so as a new and updated edition is soon to be published.

Whether you believe in cold fusion, or Low Energy Nuclear Reaction (LENR), or not, this is a fascinating book to read.

This is about the development of a new heat source that uses a safe nuclear reaction between fine nickel powder and hydrogen. It produces a million times more energy than petrol, while producing no CO2 emissions and no harmful radioactive emissions or nuclear waste. Once perfected you could quite safely stand such a heater in your sitting room, as you would an electric fire, but only use a fraction of, if any, electricity.

The book reads more like a biographical story, and would be just as interesting if it were complete fiction, which it is most certainly not.

What we get is a deep insight into the people behind the development of the E-Cat and related products and issues, concerning the development of a revolutionary heat source, based on LENR, and the various trials and tribulations they go through.

You don't need to be at all technical to read this and will obtain a considerable insight into to this potentially world changing technology.

If you want to know whether E-Cat really works, Google search, "Observation of abundant heat production from a reactor device and of isotopic changes in the fuel" and download the independent free PDF test report. There was also a similar previous test report, "Indication of anomalous heat energy production in a reactor device containing hydrogen loaded nickel powder."

One hopes that the critics of Cold Fusion and LENR will now shut up and accept the reality that this energy source really works.

Wanted some D-shackles, with a bit more length, such as for the hook of the chain hoist.

These are of excellent quality at a very good price, though double the cost of short ones in galvanised steel. They are much better than I need for my garage, but they won't go rusty and look very smart.

I don't know if they are as strong as galvanised steel, but they are rated with a breaking load 1700kg, which is quite sufficient for my needs.

For a single one the delivery costs were rather high, but I bought four, with not much more for delivery, giving a more reasonable cost per shackle, about £2.16 each at time of writing.

I was finding it difficult to hook my 1 ton chain hoist onto the beam clamp in my garage, particularly when it was necessary to remove and replace this several times. The chain hoist is not that heavy, but for me it is awkward to lift it above my head and hook onto the beam clamp, the design of which makes this difficult procedure. A long D-shackle was needed to ensure enough length for the hook of the chain hoist and the beam clamp.

This D-Shackle was just what was needed and its quality is excellent, actually much better than needed, but there were no alternative 12mm thick long D-shackles at a lower price, £16, with delivery, at the time of writing. This was about half the cost of the chain hoist. Another supplier wanted £25 for the same, or very similar, item.

Anyway it does the job.

However I also ordered 10mm Stainless Steel long D-shackles, from a different supplier, for less than £4 each, a quarter of the cost. Theses seemed to do the job just as well and were quite strong enough for the 1 ton hoist. So unless you really need the strength of a 12mm thick shackle, get a 10mm one instead.

3.0 out of 5 stars Rather disapointing, 16 Oct 2014

Because of plantar calcaneal bursitis, otherwise know as Policeman's heel, I wanted some open toed sandals, with an adjustable foot strap, but with a partially closed heel, so that the silicon inserts I needed would not keep slipping out under the heel strap.

I searched through hundreds of designs to find what I needed and eventually found these, so decided to try them.

Having got them, they are rather disappointing. The main problem is that foot strap has virtually no adjustment and is anyway too tight, so they are not at all comfortable and press on my large toe. They will certainly no allow me to wear thicker socks when I want.

For the size 9 I ordered, they were also rather longer than expected.

They look ok, but are really not the practical sandals I needed to help with my heel problem.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value and does the job, 12 Oct 2014

Couldn't expect more for what it cost.

It works very well and provides the protection needed.

My tablet is 263mm by 180mm and was a bit of tight fit. This is the maximum width it would take.

Main problem is that the clip on the left obstructs the HDMI socket. Also there is no clip on the right to stop the tablet sliding out of the case.

TRIXES 20 Pc Metric Tap Wrench and Die Pro Set M3-M12 Not Bolt
TRIXES 20 Pc Metric Tap Wrench and Die Pro Set M3-M12 Not Bolt
Offered by Digiflex
Price: £9.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Looks ok, perhaps not best quality, but a good price, 6 Oct 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I needed a wide size range set of metric taps and dies for cleaning up the occasional damaged or corroded threads.

As I did not want to cut new threads, I got this low cost set. On can pay as much for a single good quality die, or even a single tap triplet. These were the best of the low cost tap and die sets available.

I have not yet used them, but the quality is unlikely to be the best, although should be adequate for my needs, to clean up occasional damaged threads.

The set includes nine taps and nine dies, from M3 to M12. Only first, or taper, taps are included and the dies are not split, so can't be adjusted for cutting new threads. A tap wrench and die wrench are also included. I would be very reluctant to use the large tap wrench on the smaller taps, for fear of breaking them.

In general these are good value for money, but perhaps you should not expect too much of them for other than cleaning up existing threads, or cutting threads in softer materials.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value and good performance, 1 Oct 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For the £6 these cost, they were great value and perform very well, giving a good clear sound.

The are very light and comfortable, so you hardly know you have them on.

There is no independent volume or balance control, which has to be done at the source.

They don't cut out much background noise, if that is a concern, or preference, for you.

The foam covering of the ear pieces is not ideal, cloth covering would have been better, but you can't expect everything for the price.
