Bought for my wife's new mobile, the case arrived in impressive time (ordered on a Monday evening, it landed on the mat Wednesday morning). It's a robust hardshell design, and fitted the Galaxy Fame perfectly.

A fitting studio landmark of the magnificent career of the Isleys. The Forever Gold package may appeal to many as a suitable intro to the band (and it does punch its weight, fair enough), but there are no risks in selecting 3+3. Featuring iconic tracks such as That Lady and Summer Breeze (with a killer solo from Ernie), there are no fillers padding out the set. In fact, lesser known tracks such as If You Were There, You Walk Your Way and the driving, hypnotic What It Comes Down To can stand up amongst their best. With Ronald's incomparable soaring vocals, and Ernie's lead licks underpinned by a super-tight band, this is a genuine soul classic, with a rockier edge to set the band apart. I saw the Isleys live in Manchester in 2003, when Ronald proved that he still possessed an astonishing set of pipes, with all the trademark fills and trills from his heyday - and Ernie certainly hadn't forgotten how to rip out the solos. Highly recommended as the high point of the 'classic' line up of the band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Extended Version, 10 Dec 2013

The original single-length version was a bit of a classic in its own right, but this extended workout, with the band having a great time, takes it to a whole new level.

A very engaging, almost chatty, guide. It has short and punchy chapters, and avoids the trap of sounding stuffy and jargon-laden. It gives some really helpful insights on interview preparation and carrying it out on the day. You'll definitely feel more confident and ready to give a good account of yourself after reading this, as it outlines out some effective responses, as well as common pitfalls to be avoided. Overall, well worth the investment.

Point Blank (Parker 1)
Point Blank (Parker 1)

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard Edged Crime Thriller, 9 Dec 2013

This review is from: Point Blank (Parker 1) (Paperback)
The memorable debut of Parker, Stark's hugely understated anti-hero. Double crossed by his wife and crime partner, he sets off on a carefully calculated revenge mission, and you sense from the outset that he will not fail. Parker is quickly established as a truly memorable character in the world of hard boiled crime fiction: a man with no absolutely time for small talk, he is a meticulous planner and executor of his heists, and is willing to be be absolutely - and violently - ruthless when he believes that is what the situation demands. But his violence - often of the fatal variety - is never gratuitous, or without its own justification according to his code of ethics. This is no wise-cracking figure such as Robert Parker's Spenser. Laconic, self-contained and totally unsentimental, Parker is nevertheless forged by Stark into a naturally tough and charismatic lead, at the heart of a storyline that fizzes along. I've read over 20 of the Parker series, all at a rapid pace, such is their unputdownability. They certainly haven't dated, such is the quality of the plots and characterisation. Very highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Superb Guide in the Series, 9 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Customary Pathfinder quality in this companion to the original Cotswolds Walks. There are some memorably scenic walks of varying lengths, characterised by the precise directions and crystal clear OS map extracts. If there's a finer countrywide set of guides than this one, I certainly haven't found it yet. Buy - and enjoy - with confidence.

We chose this product after a fair old trawl for the best option for our oak blocks. One important learning point was - ignore the myth that you should use olive oil instead of mineral oil - it'll go rancid and your food will start to whiff (and not in a good way) before you know it. This mineral oil was competitively priced, is non-greasy and very easy to apply, and you don't have to ladle it on by the bucket load.

Shane: My Story
Shane: My Story
by Shane Williams
Edition: Paperback
Price: £6.39

4.0 out of 5 stars Story of a Legend, 19 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Shane: My Story (Paperback)
Very readable autobiography by a true legend of Welsh rugby, a worthy heir to star wingers of the past such as Gerald Davies, JJ Williams and Ieuan Evans. The book offers some great insights into the pressures of top international rugby, and it's characterised by a self effacing modest approach, far removed from the arch trumpet blowing of some sporting efforts. Shane comes across as a down to earth, home loving and unassuming man, who just happened to be an absolutely electrifying rugby player, one who could light up any match - and frequently did. Recommended.
