5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!, 20 May 2012

After spending too much time browsing through blogs, I have developed a keen interest in making food look cute. This book is absolutely perfect for making a boring lunch much more entertaining! The recipes are healthy, packed with fruit and vegetables and you could easily adjust the recipe with one of the other bento ideas if you weren't too keen on a particular food. The recipes are easy to read through and the layout is great, with clear pictures so you know what you're aiming for it to look like! Perfect for brightening up a dull day.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating but not a recipe book!, 20 May 2012

The designs in this book are brilliant and amazing to look at, it's a great book to have on your coffee table when guests come round and lovely to browse through. However, dont buy this book thinking it is a recipe book, there are no instructions on how to create the Bento's, it is more of an appreciation of the art of Bento. An experienced Bento maker would probably be able to look at the designs and recreate them, but it would not be easy for a beginner. Beautiful designs though!

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely, Great for beginners!, 20 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this book after owning and loving 'The Primrose bakery Book', as with that book the recipes are gorgeous, with photos of every recipe, with a great layout and delicious recipes. I would advise buying this one before The Primrose Bakery Book, rather than after, as I felt that there was a lot of repetition (more recipes in the latter.) However, there are great recipes in this book that I'm not sure I would've wanted to miss out on had I not bought this book as well! It would make a great gift and is a great place to start if you're a beginner as they're are a variety of basic cupcake recipes with easy to follow instructions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely gorgeous!, 20 May 2012

I loved this book, the photos, the layout and the recipes themselves were all fabulous. I have made many of the recipes including the nutella cupcakes (my favourite), the maple and pecan cupcakes, the caramel slice, the mars bar cake and the raspberry cocnut ice cupcakes and they were all delicious and went down a treat! The cakes are extremely rich, so you can't eat too many in one go (although some would disagree!) but all were delicious, easy to make and looked really impressive at the end. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars More than just smoothies!, 20 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this book based on a recipe I saw on the book of an innocent smoothie and after looking at it on amazon. I have found it to be a brilliant way to incorporate fruit and veg into every meal.

With individual sections for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Dessert as well as seperate sections for veggie, fish and meat this book is easy to use and great for quickly looking at a section, when you're not quite sure what to make for a meal, as well as different ways of cooking a particular vegetable (ideal if you've got something left in the fridge and not quite sure what to do with it!) Of course there is also a section for their wonderful smoothies.

It is full of quirkly little stories and drawings in true innocent style, a great way to make cooking fun and to give you something to do while the food is cooking! It could at times, do with more photos of the actual food (for those of you that like to know what you're food is meant to look like there are very few photos of the recipes) but the clear and detailed descriptions of the food are in general more than enough to help you create your meals.
