4.0 out of 5 stars Great little diary, 2 Dec 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An inexpensive little diary, ideal for keeping appointments and noting future events, but not for wine vintages or maps of the world and all that other stuff you never use (it does have an Underground map, though.) The only criticism I have is that it doesn't start until 31 December. That means I have to keep two diaries going for longer than I would want. Interestingly it runs right through to 20 February 2014. I would prefer it to start in mid-November. That's not to take away from the fact that it is is outstanding value.

4.0 out of 5 stars A shirt for all seasons, 29 Oct 2012

This shirt is made of top quality cotton that feels good to wear and it is well cut. Importantly, the collar sits well when wearing a sweater. In warmer weather it looks smart with rolled-up sleeves. All-round good buy.

Salter Stainless Steel Electronic Timer
Salter Stainless Steel Electronic Timer

5.0 out of 5 stars Timed to (Near) Perfection, 1 Dec 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
We've had various kitchen timers over the years. All have disappointed in some way: they are too complicated, too temperamental, or both. This timer works in a simple, intuitive manner that doesn't send you rushing off to find the elusive user manual. It has its own stand or is affixed by magnet. It counts down or counts up. It tells you the time. The only criticism is the reedy, not to say weedy, alarm - not good for those, like me, who are losing hearing's higher frequencies.

My local hearing resource centre offers these batteries at a subsidised price that is four times the cost of these batteries. Astonishing value.

5.0 out of 5 stars What's not to like?, 27 Sep 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought my computer over the internet and didn't think to check whether it included a card reader. When something can be produced at this incredibly low price, why don't all computers have it built in? (Novatech, take note). Very simple to use, trouble free, low price and free postage. What's not to like?

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Grate, 28 Jan 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Have you ever wondered why your Cheddar crumbles into pieces as you try to grate it? Leaving you with knuckles that are more grated than the cheese? Here's a tip - your grater has lost its sharpness. Think back. How long have you had that grater? Wedding present, was it? Well, no excuse then for not shelling out on this stainless steel box grater. It's no beauty ( you don't keep it on display, do you?) but it's functional. And at this price - grate value!

1.0 out of 5 stars Broken Reputation, 18 Nov 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
May I add my concerns to those already mentioned, but which bear repeating. Braun's insistence on selling the foil and cutter together does not make sense unless it is a cynical ploy to increase sales of razor accessories. They deserve to be criticised for that. Actually, they deserve to lose sales of their razors, once people realise they are being ripped off when replacing the foil or the cutter and finding they have to buy both. (The same applies to their over-priced and superfluous "clean & renew" system which does nothing more than add to the planet's pollution problem, but that's another story). Like another reviewer, my foil snapped after just a few days' use. Amazon are supplying a replacement. I'll report my experience of the replacement in due course.

Amazon put the replacement in the post and trusted me to return the broken item. They also supplied a pre-paid postage label. Couldn't ask for more. As for the new foil it is identical so I now take extravagant care when removing it. So far, so good but Braun's reputation for excellence is severely tested by this fragile, cheap-looking and expensive bit of kit.

Addendum: Two years on and the foil is still going strong. I've taken to blowing the debris out every couple of days. Every week I charge the razor and give it a clean with the supplied brush. I've long since abandoned the overpriced "clean and renew" system.
