Follows a similar theme to Stella Newmans previous novel, Pear Shaped, i.e. Slightly larger woman who enjoys good food and struggles to find love. However this doesn't do the novel justice as it is well written with believable characters and a good story line. Office politics are explored in a humorous and witty way, as are relationships and dating, well worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh out loud with poignant moments, 29 Mar 2014

I love what Jonathan Harvey has written for TV (Gimme Gimme Gimme, Beautiful People) and this didn't disappoint. He has a knack for making everyday things seem so funny, and parts of this had me almost crying with laughter. However the story does have a tragic thread and is very poignant at times, with an unexpected twist at the end.

Silly but enjoyable chick lit, easy to read, would be a good holiday read or a pleasant way to pass a wet afternoon.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, 5 Mar 2014

This will appeal to anyone who enjoyed The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out Of The Window. Quite enjoyable though a bit daft in parts, I felt at times it had lost something in translation.

I've read a number of Isabel Wolff novels and really enjoyed them but this was predictable and disappointing. The storyline with Luke and Magda was irritating and unbelievable.

I really enjoyed The Beach Cafe and this was a great short story to follow up, tying up loose ends.
