Excellent and entertaining review of the techniques (tricks and subterfuges) used by those who sell things. Honest people should read it and be forewarned of what they might be subjected to when they are in the market to buy a product or service.

very useful to have in one volume four separate articles on each reading from the lectionary; invaluable for preachers.

This was a book I had read some 50 years ago but had disposed of. I remembered sections from it recently and wanted to confirm the accuracy of my memory. The book is as good as I remembered it the first time - and it was excellent to be able to obtain promptly a second-hand copy of an out of print book.

A most useful corrective to much modern sloppy thinking and policy making. Whether you agree with all his views or not, Scruton is always interesting and challenging.

5.0 out of 5 stars Philosophy need not be dull and difficult, 22 Mar. 2014

very readable; gives interesting background to each philosopher; links philosophy to the problems of everyday life. Choice of philosophers may seem idiosyncratic, but there are clear links made between those chosen.

an excellent challenge from within of the problems of the psychiatric profession. Readable and entertaining but fair. A good challenge to unjustified orthodoxies.

2.0 out of 5 stars When Kindle backfires, 15 Feb. 2013

For once, I was disappointed in a Kindle version of a book. The book requires you to read diagrams to get the most out of it, but the diagrams are so small that this is impossible. The facility which increases the size of the typeface does not alter the size of the diagrams. The text of the book is helpful but I wish I had bought the "real" book. It is also much more difficult to navigate around the Kindle version of this book than around a physical book.
