5.0 out of 5 stars I bought this crystal, a. k. a ..., 3 Aug. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this crystal, a.k.a. Falcon's Eye, as I read that it is helpful to carry in Moving Meditations, such as Qigong. It did help in reducing the slightly "spaced out" feeling after a typical session, by giving me more Grounding. Quite a subtle crystal.

A good-looking specimen. Large enough for the price and small enough to go through the letterbox in its packaging. I look forward to all sorts of blessings descending on the household!

4.0 out of 5 stars Taking the rough with the smooth., 13 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was a bit disappointed that the product arrived with no brochure, showing a few repetitions. As there are plenty of videos on the web, this is not a massive issue. These clips do show smooth rollers, whereas the ridges on this one are quite aggressive. All the more reason then for some suggested repetitions for this roller.

4.0 out of 5 stars A lifelong voyage of discovery., 19 Sept. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Given the not inconsiderable cost of this book, I'm a bit disappointed in the amateurishness of the finished product. Some of the photos are out of focus and Mark's grasp of when to use "it's" and "its" is very shaky. Would the budget not have run to paying someone to proof read it?
Regarding the content, however, it's fascinating and will provide a lifelong journey of discovery for me. I was particularly interested in the description of his "Kundalini" awakening.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy To Read, But Could Be Shorter!, 4 July 2014
On the whole, this is written in an airy, engaging style.
See what you make of this, however: "Write [your Journal] as succincly and objectively as possible. Avoid judgements, justifications and rationalizations, interpretations, or evaluations of your work". That's fine, but then Richard Rosen contradicts himself by continuing: "Don't censor your writing or worry about continuity, style, grammar, or even spelling. Listen to and write from the heart, not the head".
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has managed to carry out writing "objectively", while at the same time "from the heart"!
The Author also thinks that "uninterested" and "disinterested" can be used interchangeably, when they do have two different meanings.
Apart from these quibbles, this is an enjoyable read, albeit quite slowly-paced.

The Way of Energy: Mastering the Chinese Art of Internal Strength with Chi Kung Exercise
The Way of Energy: Mastering the Chinese Art of Internal Strength with Chi Kung Exercise
by Kam Chuen Lam
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars This could the start of a beautiful relationship., 22 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have some reservations about the execution of this book, rather than its contents. Earlier editions had a light blue font, which does not have any major advantages over the normal black one. Some of the transparencies for the drawings of the Eight Brocades were reversed, showing the right hand starting the sequence, while the text states the left.
The flow of energy diagram when drawing energy from a tree was also wrongly shown.
Apart from these issues, this is a book that will draw you into Standing Meditation, perhaps for the rest of your life. After the initial discomfort of assuming the postures fades away, you will start to feel the subtle effect of the Chi circulating in your body in a few months. Resist the temptation to "skip a day", as this will set you back.
Master Lam approaches the subject in a very accessible way, where his humorous nature shines through. As the "advanced" version of each posture is also given, the student can progress to that higher level in their own time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Inappropriate use of a dwarf., 14 April 2014
This review is from: The Great Beauty (DVD)
The first fifteen minutes are probably the most difficult, at which point my other half bailed out.
The transition scene from the death of the Chinese Tourist, against the backdrop of some beautiful choral song, to the party scene, ushered in by some woman screaming, is an Undergraduate attempt at shocking the audience and really cheap.
After that the "slice of life" anti-narrative begins, with the vertically-challenged Magazine Editor wandering around the scene of the party, now deserted, in a pathetic manner.
I recommend that you watch this on your own, as social pressure from others might cause you all to go and watch paint drying instead.
As in the similarly grandiosely-entitled "I Am Love" (2009), both films have little concept of economy.
The photography and soundtracks are sumptuous, with the final cruise down the Tiber for the credits bringing me into a state of meditation.
Those who like this sort of thing will like this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good mix of satire on Hollywood and suspense., 11 Mar. 2014
Do not take this film as 100% accurate about the actual events!. Look on IMDB for the numerous goofs in this film. My favourite is the Revolutionary Guards in cars trying to stop the "Swissair" flight (which never actually flew to Teheran) from taking off. Apparently the take-off speed of a 747 is 140-160 knots or 185 miles per hour, which is going some!
I also don't fancy my chances about being behind a jet engine in any car, where the temperature would be about 850%.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile snippets but muddled arguments., 24 Feb. 2014
I understand that Malcolm Gladwell took a year out from the "New Yorker" to write this book.
I think that he should have asked for another week to write some sort of conclusion for this.
The structure of "Thesis, Antithesis and Synthesis" has been around since the Ancient Greeks, so I don't know why he didn't adopt this approach. Instead, we get Thesis and Antithesis, T&A, T&A, concluding with Thesis.
There is a reason why courts do not allow new evidence to be submitted in the Barrister's Closing Speeches. The other side would never get to test that evidence.
All in all, this is just an elongated tract denouncing Prejudice.
The anecdote of the Doctor treating an accident victim is eye-opening, whereas the $10 bill under the inverted pyramid is just plain daft. There is no point destroying it rather than physically removing it - it's a nil sum game! Personally, i think that burning the banknote offends the rule of "not moving the pyramid" anyway, even if only by a millimetre.
This is just about worthwhile reading, so I'm going to donate this book to the Charity Shop.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Way To Learn Qigong, 2 Dec. 2013

The choice between two different Sequences depending on your requirement for either an "Upper" or a "Downer" is good, plus the various other mini-features.
I have deducted one star, as the editing makes it difficult sometimes to follow each move in its entirety.
