5.0 out of 5 stars A must read, 9 Dec 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A must read for all, especially those who heard any of the accompanying radio series and who wish to get behind the distorted, stereotypical, portrayal of German history trotted out by this country's media for the past century or so.

This review is from: Suffolk From The Air (Hardcover)
A gift for my wife (who comes from Suffolk so she's probably biased) who loves it. The aerial views give even well known locations and buildings a fresh perspective.

Not had it long but it's been a delight to use so far. I've never experienced the freedom of a wireless mouse before.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 28 Jun 2013

My previous monitor being almost ten years old just emphasises the technological advance that has been made in the interim and for such a relatively low cost as well.

2.0 out of 5 stars Yes, but....., 9 Feb 2011
This was purchased as a Christmas present for my 15 year old son with whom it has proved very popular. Consequently, it has been washed several times since Christmas, but always with care and in accordance with instructions as per label attached. Despite this, however, the white writing on the chest has recently started to peel off and has now largely gone. Very disappointing.

Scorched Earth: Russian-German War, 1943-1944

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read for anyone interested in the subject., 9 Mar 2001
Having first read 'Scorched Earth' over 25 years ago, a recent re-read confirmed my recollections of a book that manages to combine a clear grasp of the strategic picture with plenty of relevant tactical detail. It is, very much, the German side of the story but the clarity and readability of Carell's style more than compensate for any bias, intended or otherwise.
Written as the second volume of an intended trilogy, it takes the story of Hitler's war on Russia from the aftermath of Stalingrad up to the collapse of Army Group Centre in the Summer of 1944. As far as I'm aware, he never completed the project but if there is a third volume out there I'd be keen to read it.
