5.0 out of 5 stars Best Def Leppard album since Hysteria, 7 Nov. 2015

Best Def Leppard album since Hysteria. Not perfect, but pretty close - no songs I wouldn't want to listen to again!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as I expected (in terms of horror!), 27 Jun. 2014

I'd read some of the reviews suggesting that this was a bit horrific. OK, it dealt with the subject of cannibalism, but it's wasn't that bad!

Perhaps years of Bones, CSI etc have made it less shocking!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but..., 9 Jun. 2014

I really enjoyed the first two Aector McAvoy books (once I got used to the first person present writing style) but found this one less satisfying. The ending seemed a little rushed, the explanation of the killer's motives coming in page of internal monologue and a little 'light' as a reasoning for a serial killer (And I HATE cliff hanger endings in a novel).

That said, I will buy the next one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Album, Great version, 10 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
With Ozzy's current iconic status and high profile, it might be hard to imagine that 33 years ago 'Blizzard of Ozz' could have made or broken his career. Since his sacking by Black Sabbath in 1979, his former band had gone on to release one of the classic heavy metal albums in the form of 'Heaven and Hell' and the pressure was on Osbourne.

Fortunately for both he and music fans, Ozzy had 'discovered' former Quiet Riot guitarist Randy Rhoads - the legend has it he was instantly recruited when a drunken Ozzy heard him tuning up - and this pairing helped produce a record that took Osbourne's career to a new level.

The 2011 re-issues thankfully restore the original rhythm sections recordings, and add a couple of extra bonus tracks. Some of the production does sound a little dated, but that doesn't take away from the quality of the record and Rhoad's amazing guitar work.

Top Secret Boeing
Top Secret Boeing

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Research and a very interesting story., 3 April 2013

This review is from: Top Secret Boeing (Paperback)
I've long been interested in this aircraft, but previous articvles have only told a fraction of the story. Bob Shaw has brought together it's whole fascinating history in one very readable book.

Highly Recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good, 28 Feb. 2013

£5 for this cover is great value, it does what it described and fits almost perfectly (Hold' button is a little difficult to switch off, but that will with use in time I suspect).

How hard wearing it will be will be seen in time, but it looks pretty solid and well made. Not sure about the pop-out belt clip/keyring holder - looks a little weak but I won't ber using it anyway!

Any writer of Scottish crime fiction would inevitably get compared with Ian Rankin, but that is unfair. I enoyed this and the other Gichrist books.

4.0 out of 5 stars My son loves it, 6 Jan. 2013

It may need a fair bit of re-tuning until the strings settle, but my son is happy with it and that's what's important. A case would be a good purchase along with it though.

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition for Dummies: Express Edition (For Dummies)
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition for Dummies: Express Edition (For Dummies)
by Robert D. Schneider
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book but no CD, 11 Feb. 2012
Book is up to the usual For Dummies standard as being a good intro for a complete beginner. Having virtually no SQL experience, it took me through the basic concepts.

However, beware!! It says on the book cover it comes with a CD. No such CD was provided!! I complained and Amazon sent me a replacement - which didn't have a CD either!!

No real problem, as the software can be downloaded from the Microsoft site, but maybe Amazon should note that on the description!!

Wings of the Luftwaffe: Flying German Aircraft of World War II (Consign)
Wings of the Luftwaffe: Flying German Aircraft of World War II (Consign)
by Eric Melrose Brown
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £23.77

4.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing in some ways, 21 Feb. 2011
Facts up front - I have the original 1977 edition, and various other books that Captain Brown had written about his experiences. This book is a compliation of much of that material. However, that is not neccessarily a bad thing, as those books are long out of print, and the chance to get the majority of Capt. Brown's opinions on German aircaft in one place is to be welcomed.

Unfortunatley, the premise is let down by the production. Compared to the original, photo reproduction is poor, with many B+W and colour pictures being 'fuzzy' and giving the appearance of being poorly copied. Some of the colour profiles relate to the aircraft under discussion, but others have no more relevance to the text than they appear to be randomly chosen examples of the same type of aircraft - and the aircraft in the colour photo of the Bf109 on the cover wasn't flown by the author either.

There are also a couple of factual errors that I spotted - anyone going to St Athan to see the Ju88 in the Historic Collection there (as mentioned on Page 193) will be disappointed as the Ju88 moved to RAF Museum at Hendon in 1978 - something that took me 30 seconds to check.

In spite of these facts, I have given the book 4 stars as for anyone who has not read Eric Brown's previous works, it is an excellent purchase.
