5.0 out of 5 stars RECOMMENDED!!, 21 Oct. 2008
I would recommend anyone who works in Compliance, or who needs to understand financial regulation to read this book. It gives practical guidance on how to tackle a wide number of compliance issues, in a way that no other book on the market does. It's easy to read but also very informative, and I have certainly learned a lot from it.

When her bookish and noble fiance and lifelong friend, Geoffrey, Earl of March, is lost at sea, Lady Aurora Demming, daughter of the powerful duke of Eversley, believes she has lost her only chance to be free of her abusive father and her fear intensified by his having arranged a marriage for her with a controlling man twice her age. An opportunity for freedom arises when Nicholas Sabine, an American about to be hanged for murder and piracy, asks her to marry him for just one day and one tempestuous night. His money will give her independence, while her title will enable her to guarantee that Nicholas's raven-haired half-sister, a love child born out of wedlock will be accepted by British high society. Aurora's new life as a London widow and the guardian of her new ward is shattered when Nicholas appears at a masquerade ball, explaining how he escaped death and desiring to claim her publicly as his wife. Although she is desperately attracted to him, Aurora fears marriage to a man so passionate about danger, life and love will trap her as completely as did life with her father. Just as Nicholas seems to be persuading her of their mutual love and rightness for each other, the long-lost fiance turns up, obviously not drowned at all...

Jordan aptly maintains the tension between Aurora and Nicholas, while moving the plot smartly along with lively dialogue and interesting secondary characters.

In 1897 Los Angeles businessman Brandon Sayer is elated when he reads the telegram that his wife Jana was coming home after leaving him without notice one year two months and six days ago. They were married for three months when she just left to return home to her Aunt Maureen, who had raised Jana as her own daughter after the child's parents' died...................... Brandon thinks she has come home to do her duty as his wife, but Jana states she wants a divorce. Brandon persuades her that she should give him a month to try to make their marriage work. However, she also makes it clear they will not have sex during the trial period; what she fails to tell him is that he is a father. She expects nothing has changed as he did not even know she left him for two days and he starts the same way on their first night of a second chance by coming home from business very late; still she hopes because she loves him. As he tries to make amends, someone sabotages his latest business venture making it even more difficult for Brandon to spend time with the woman he loves........................... This enjoyable historical romance showcases the influence of nurturing on a person as Bandon is a chip off the old block, acting to his wife just like his father does to his mother (Harry Chapin's Cat in the Cradle). The story line is character driven as the intrigue actually enhances the insight into how each member of the lead duo respectively sees the world. Judith Stacy furbishes a fantastic late nineteenth century Americana tale...................

To want him was madness ... Far from home was the last place Brianna Donally ever imagined she'd find the one man she'd desire above all others. When Major Michael Fallon, the dangerously seductive British officer, rescues the bold beauty from certain doom, Brianna discovers a reckless passion she is unable to resist. But a fiercely independent female photographer could never make a proper bride for the grandson of a duke. And a bitter betrayal has locked love away from Michael's heart forever. ... to deny her was impossible. And yet ... Michael cannot disregard these sensuous stirrings. Could it be the moonlight that has bewitched him ... or the intoxicating scent and touch of this remarkable, infuriatingly "modern" woman? Scandal would be the least consequence of their consummated passion -- there would be perils as well. For Michael will never settle for anything less than a true, intense, and all-consuming love.

She Couldn't Escape Him.... Lauren DeVries stared up at Captain Jason Stuart in dismay. Of all the men in London, she had managed to stumble upon the very one her guardian was forcing her to marry! And he was demanding a night in her arms as payment for passage to America! The breathtaking blonde quickly devised a desperate plan...she would give the handsome rogue what he desired, then take his gold and flee. Blaise St. James, her violet eyes blazing with resolve and her raven-haired allure disguised under drab servants' clothes, flees her privileged life rather than be married off to some unfeeling English gentleman. But after encountering Julian Morrow, Viscount Lynden, she is caught in his spell.

With the face and form of an Adonis, and the charisma that comes only with wealth and good breeding, Julian is undoubtedly an aristocrat. Yet his soul bears the scars of war and of a woman's treachery, and his searing blue eyes speak with a passion that belies his noble blood. Blaise trembles at his very touch, helpless to his sensual kisses. He will have her-whether she is the innocent runaway she claims to be, or the skilled seductress he suspects. But his proposal is not one a gentleman makes to a lady. . . .

Wolf and Joe are very alpha male characters

McKenzies Mountain: Wolf Mackenzie, being half Indian-Anglo, struggles to maintain his low key profile in a town where he is not accepted by its white inhabitants. His low key profile is abliterated when new teacher comes to town and changes his life forever. This is a really sensual and fun read.

McKenzies Mission: This is the story of Colonel Joe "Breed" MacKenzie and Caroline Evans, Physicist and computer geek. They meet while working on the Night Hawk, a top secret military air craft. He is the project manager and she is a civilian working for a private military contractor.
Their romance is combustible although they go through a rough spot of mistrust. He suspects her of sabotaging the project. It all gets cleared up in the end, however after some exciting twists and turns. Joe is a sexy dude and has the sensitivity to handle the skittish and innocent Caroline. Their romance sizzles and sex is hot!
