2.0 out of 5 stars Quality?, 4 Feb 2013

To start with, this best of compilation relies too much on the later more hard rock kind of times and does not include enough of the older AR classics. Definitely one does not get a good impression of AR by listening to this compilation.
The second CD is - apart from the poor musicianship and inverntorship of AR - a total disappointment as far as its quality is concerned. It often sound like an MP3 song at a very low quality (lower than 128). Unfortunately, this CD is not really a gain.

2.0 out of 5 stars we're saturated!!, 31 Oct 2012

I'm sorry, but I've just grown really tired of re-recordings of old hits. Leave the old hits be as they are. They are perfect - and timeless!! - just like that. And the other thing: Once singers have reached a certain age, they should not sing any more. The voice is not the same as it used to be; it simply sounds old.

So, dear Dionne and all the other elderly stars: Sing as long as your voice ist brilliant, and stop producing CDs when your voice simply sounds old. Instead, enjoy the evening of your lives and reminisce. So will we, the fans!

4.0 out of 5 stars It must be made of gold ..., 7 May 2012
This review is from: Beyond Appearances (Audio CD)
Undoubtedly, this record by Santana is not quite the great old stuff from the end sixties, but the master of the guitar found a way to adapt to the new times and made such great albums as zebop, shango and beyond appearances. There is still this special Latin feel and groove and it is still typically Santana. I love this record!!

My advice is - unless you are a so-called purist who only likes Santana's early music - buy it. The only flaw, however, is the price. Is this CD made of gold? It doesn't say that it's a limited edition, either. How on earth can one ask so much money for a normal CD? Most re-issues are also remastered but are sold at a low price.

The problem is - if you don't want to buy this newly remastered disc - that the old issue had audible flaws in it. Horrible muffled sounds in the middle of the songs, as if they had been recorded from a vinyl. Maybe if we are lucky the price will be lowered on this one!
