Bad Luck in Berlin: An Exclusive Short Story

4.0 out of 5 stars Great short story, 31 Dec 2013

Bad luck in Berlin is a good short story, having read Tom Wood's other three full length brilliant books, I always knew I was going to be left wanting more. The story keeps you guessing up until the end. I loved the last part, where Victor always has another extra card in his back pocket to play when you think he is in deep trouble. The enjoyment is knowing the character Victor and the anticipation on how he will get out of an uncomfortable situation. Tom Wood is a very creative and talented writer, if you haven't read his other books, don't hesitate and get them now you won't be disappointed

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful well thought out thriller, 22 Sep 2013

The Game is a fantastic thriller, action packed and great plot all the way - I couldn't put this book down. The two previous Tom Wood's books (The Hunter & The Enemy) were also great books too; the Game kept up the tension throughout which built into a brilliant finale. Victor the main character is a one off and he has amazing survival instincts, all within a plausible outcome "just" you are willing him to succeed even when the odds are heavenly stacked up against him and he shows his methodical killing side. I can't wait for Tom wood's fourth book; he is a very talented thriller writer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced action packed thriller, 22 Sep 2013

This is a fast paced thriller and keeps you hooked into the plot throughout - the main character Victor is a mystery figure that you want to know more about. There are some great set pieces and I found it a very exciting book. Tom Wood writes well and his descriptive writing is very well laid out. This is a book that you can't wait to get back too, and after I finished it I knew I would miss the high tension that this book delivered. I look forward to reading his second book and getting back to another roller-coaster ride again.

I really enjoyed the enemy, after the first book "The Hunter" I wondered if Tom wood could produce another top class thriller - this book in my opinion even better than his first book. You learn more about the main character, which was interesting and the story line is electric. Tom Wood is a top class writer and he is very good at pace and keeping the story clever and interesting. His descriptive writing around the different locations hooks you in as if you are there, I can't wait to read the next Book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read, 25 Jun 2013

This review is from: The Hunter (Paperback)
I really enjoyed the Hunter and loved the main character. He was quite a self-sufficient and insular person who developed an openness as the story progressed. I was fascinated as the hunt went on for the last Thylacine. This book felt different from other books and created a realism and authenticity about it - less seemed more in the style of writing. It was a book that left a mark with me.

3.0 out of 5 stars A memoir that leaves it's mark, 24 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I really enjoyed reading Land's Edge; it's an easy read which allows your mind to wander to a time and place that is fresh and vibrant. Tim Winton is great at descriptive writing and he has a way of bringing things to life. The sea can teach us a lot and with Tim Winton prose you feel it deep inside of you. This is an early life account that goes into small details that seem important, like the small findings on the beach that has an important historical meaning. Tim WInton's early life touched me and his adventures came to life in my minds eye. From a bleak Australian coast line, what he showed me throughout his life is how easy it could be to miss important things through not being inquisitive; exploration can open up a magical world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book, 7 Nov 2012
I bought this beautiful book for a friend who has just starting sewing for a hobby and she thinks it's amazing - I showed it to a few other people before i parted with it who also fell in love with it too. It takes you back to when sewing was an art form and thousands of women loved to work creatively with their hands. There are great tips throughout; also the quality of the book is first class. Merchant & Mills have quality products and this book is no exception. I only wish my nan was still here to experience this wonderful book.

This review is from: The Dead Tracks (Paperback)
The dead tracks is a book that keep you interested until the end, it has a good pace and keeps you guessing throughout. There are some really good set pieces and the main character is easy to empathize with; being real and interesting. The plot was well thought out and had different strands to follow. After the book was finished I felt it didn't impact on me as much as I thought it would. I really liked the small chapters.

Killing Floor: (Jack Reacher 1)
Killing Floor: (Jack Reacher 1)
by Lee Child
Edition: Paperback
Price: 3.50

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced thriller with a solid plot, 29 Sep 2012
Killing floor is the first book of the Reacher series - It's a great introduction to Jack Reacher and the fast pace makes this book hard to put down. It's a thriller that has a good plot that keeps you guessing throughout. Reacher is a cool customer that does what has to be done to the bad guys and he certainly doesn't hold back. It's also a human story with some good characters that keeps you wanting them to succeed and win over against the many bad guys involved. Lee Child has developed a main character with flaws, qualities and with a heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book with a great storyline, 14 Sep 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a great book - the plot is wonderful, it has twists and turns that keeps you hooked throughout. The characters are raw and believable in their struggle to solve the many intricate clues that get thrown into the plot - as one door opens another door shuts. This is an amazing storyline that surprises you at different junctions. Paul Sussman was a very talented writer and I feel very saddened that this will be his last book after dying this year.
