4.0 out of 5 stars Is This What You Wanted?, 5 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This seems to be rather informative but there is always something that you either do not like or cannot find in such a book. This could well be useful to a student of politics but only to a limited level. It is, however; perfectly suitable to the average "man/woman in the street".

This appears to be everything I expected of it. Full of important detail and excellent value for money.Very interesting to find just what makes a great author tick and not be afraid to say it.

4.0 out of 5 stars An enquiry into an enquiry, 2 Jan. 2013

If everything written is true, then it is truly shocking. I cannot help feeling, however; that an element of dramaaatic ;licence
has been used.

5.0 out of 5 stars I know what you are saying., 2 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Journey into Silence (Hardcover)
Being a little hard of hearing, and the wearer of a hearing aid, I can well appreciate what Jack Ashley was saying. The fact that
Jack Ashley was such a public figure did no doubt aid his campaign. Living in the area where Jack was an M.P. I hear such a
lot about him, and can understand his frustration at the lack of public understanding of the condition of deafness.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reaching Out, 2 Jan. 2013

This review is from: June Fourth Elegies (Paperback)
I chose this work to try and understand the author's thinking. It has been difficult but rewarding. There are similarities
between Liu Xiabo and Alexander Solzenitin i
as regards how their work waas regarded by the authorities.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't You dare., 2 Jan. 2013

This review is from: Acts of Defiance (Paperback)
I refer to my comments on the previous work of his. Jack was determined not to be ignored and wanted to show just what a deaf
person could acheive; which, as we all know; he succeeded so well.

5.0 out of 5 stars A journey into time., 2 Jan. 2013

As I remember the start of their musical career, I truly appreciate what they acheived.,You can always recognise each member's
individual style. Perhaps it is not an exageration to say that their unique style will not be found aagain.

1.0 out of 5 stars Seriously Sabbath, 8 Oct. 2012
This review is from: Paranoid (Audio CD)
Memories are things to treasure and no more so than with Paranoid. The quality cannot be faulted and the only criticism that can be
offered; if that is the correct word, is that the details of tracks and group membership were in spanish. The accompanying booklet was in english and of first class quality. The recording quality is superb and can only be fully appreciated when headphones are used and the volume is turned up high.

The Little Gold Mine
The Little Gold Mine
by Arthur Berry
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Allabout a local hero, 25 Aug. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Little Gold Mine (Paperback)
Local writers/artists never seem to get their due credit until long after they have left us. Berry seems to encompass several genres
in local mannerisms and dialect. These can often take several readings before they can be both understood and appreciated.
Works such as "A Little Gold Mine" can and often do help to bring out the character of the area they are set in. I bought this work on
the recommendation of someone involved in publishing and so far I am not at all disappointed. As I am not a local by birth, just a
10year "immigrant", I aam still getting used to the history of my new home area. Arthur Berry's works have so far been
terrific help in this. I would be quite prepared to acquire other works by Berry if they aatre as good as this work clearly is.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fan's eye view., 8 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: December (Audio CD)
For anyone who is either a serious fan or just interested in good music, this is a work of real merit.
The Moody Blues have been a fixture of the music scene for so long and yet they never seem to amaze their fans
with their recordings. For a serious fan like myself, I was somewhat amazed at the seasonal slant which this work
brings. The song writing, musical and productive talents of all those involved in this work never fail to delight and amaze.
Even more so considering the length of their respective careers.
