The Song of Bernadette
The Song of Bernadette

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent value for money, 3 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Song of Bernadette (Audio CD)
This is an uplifting novel of hope and optimism in the most poverty stricken of environments. I find that the audio book is a convenient medium: you can listen whilst doing other things. In this case, if you listen to a CD each day (around an hour and fifteen minutes), you will complete the novel in just over a fortnight (fifteen CDs). As such, excellent value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chopin's ballades:old, but still fresh, 11 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It's difficult to know how this edition is produced at such a low price. Cheaper to buy new rather than used here.
The pieces are extremely difficult (from my perspective). Currently just concentrating on the first ballade, and only small portions of it at a time! But it's good to have pieces which are challenging and worth the effort and time invested in playing them.

Application of Integral Transforms in the Theory of Elasticity (CISM International Centre for Mechanical Sciences)
Application of Integral Transforms in the Theory of Elasticity (CISM International Centre for Mechanical Sciences)
by I. N. Sneddon
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Application of Integral Transforms in the theory of Elasticity, 27 Nov 2011
This is a very informative text on the use of integral transforms applied to two-dimensional problems in the theory of elasticity. It is intended for the applied mathematician interested in the techniques used. The emphasis is on the mathematical technique rather than on how the mathematics is applied; the reader needs a good background in the theory of elasticity along with a knowledge of integral transforms including inverse transforms using methods in complex analysis. Even though much work has been done on two-dimensional problems in elasticity by Russian workers (particulary Muskhelishvili around the 1930s) using singular integral equations, the transform method still has a lot to offer. All in all, this is a very enjoyable book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Song of Bernadette DVD, 11 Aug 2011
This review is from: The Song Of Bernadette [DVD] (DVD)
A beautiful film based on the book of Franz Werfel. True to the text, but lacking some of the detail, the film portrays the life of Bernadette from her childhood to the end of her life on earth. In the face of much cynicism and difficulty, she offers simple truths to her questioners. Bernadette's real humility shines throughout the film.

5.0 out of 5 stars Columbo Season 9, 1 May 2009
This review is from: Columbo Season 9 [DVD] (DVD)
Columbo series 9 contains half a dozen of the best Columbos. Whislt the sound quality is lacking a little by modern standards, the video is high quality on the DVDs.
