I am an American who heard "Resist" by chance. Unfortunately as is the case with many great UK acts, Kosheen were not promoted very well in the US (never mind the fact that the US has a shocking shortage of musical talent). Anyway, Kokopelli is a killer follow-up to Resist IMO. Yeah, the d&b sound has largely vanished, but that doesn't make these songs any less appealing. This band knows how to craft gripping and catchy melodies. And let's not forget Sian Evans singularly DEADLY vocals. She puts most American R&B singers to shame with her soulful and rich voice. This woman is seriously one of the best singers to hit the scene since Beth Gibbons. She is just amazing. Although Kokopelli is darker and more "crunchin'," it is hard not to be blown away by the powerful music and vocals. Kokopelli is at the top of my list for best CDs of 2003!
