2.0 out of 5 stars 10% useful, 90% rant, 28 Dec. 2013
Mr. Nicholson is not a natural author. His style, in this book at least, is hectoring. It becomes tiresome after the first 100 pages.
There is some useful information here. I would recommend skipping to the penultimate chapter.
There is also a lot of opinion here, some of it substantiated, a lot of it not.
A shame since one of the things the author seems consistently aggrieved by is unsubstantiated opinion.
I wouldn't spend money on this. Get it out of your local library.

5.0 out of 5 stars An essential arrow in every anaesthetist's quiver, 25 Sept. 2004
Comprehensive, lucid and slickly presented, this book is indispensable to the anaesthetic trainee facing examinations. Its most obvious use is as a rapid reference to clarify areas of doubt, be it while doing exam questions or preparing for vivas or tutorials. At times when you feel too despondent to wade through yet another 600-page textbook, pick a section and skim...you'll come away enlightened and, oftentimes, entertained. A must-have.
