5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful improvements over the original model B, 24 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The model B+ Pi has a number of improvements over the original model B. It now has 4 USB ports, and allows devices to be hot swapped without the problems that would occur with the original Pi. The layout is generally tidier, with the USB ports now aligned with the edge of the board rather than jutting out. It now has a micro SD card slot of the push and click-into-place variety rather than the full-size friction fit SD slot on the earlier models. Again this is tidier as you no longer have a large SD card sticking out over the edge of the board.

As well as extra USB ports, it actually has an upgraded USB controller, and I can now plug my WiFi adapter directly into one of the USB ports on the Pi. My original 256MB Pi needed a powered USB hub to provide sufficient power for the tiny Edimax WifI dongle to work reliably. It's perhaps just as well it works in the Pi's USB socket because the aforementioned powered hub, which works fine with the original 256MB Pi, does not work with the B+. Plugging in the hub, even with no peripherals attached, results in lots of USB errors when booting up and even just a keyboard won't function.

They have been fitting 512MB RAM to the model Bs for a while now and of course the B+ also has 512MB RAM. If like me you had the original 256MB Pi, this is a very useful improvement. Memory was quite tight before, especially as some is shared with the GPU.

My Pi came from marketplace seller "Jeremiah Deals", fulfilled by Amazon. It is the Farnell / Element 14 manufactured version and came in a nice retail box that is a lot smarter than the plain box the first batch of Pis came in.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly good but don't believe the advertised speeds, 24 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I purchased this card to use in a Raspberry Pi Model B+ and for that purpose it works fine. The transfer speeds are not as advertised, but it was obvious these were nonsense and I wasn't expecting it to perform anywhere close. I tested the card with h2testw to ensure it was genuinely 16GB and during that test the card averaged 10.0MB/sec write and 18.6MB/sec read, so it does at least conform to class 10. The micro SD card has no branding on it, but the adapter does have Samsung etched onto it (looks much smarter than the one in the photo which has a label). It came in a nice little plastic case that accommodates both the micro SD card and the full size adapter separately (ie. you don't have to fit the micro SD card into the adapter to store it away.) Note that I purchased my card from "Sunwood-UK", fulfilled by Amazon. This item is available from a number of marketplace sellers, so it's highly probable that there are variations in appearance and performance depending on who you order it from. I have docked 1 star only because this card does not meet the advertised speeds.

This is a fast enclosure. A lot of the cheapie ones will only do a quarter the transfer speed of this one, even with a fast disk inside.

I upgraded my SSD and bought this to put the old one in. It's great, because I still get the full performance of the drive and can use it as some extra space for games and other things that will benefit from the performance.

My old SDD was 9.5mm and it's quite a tight fit in the case but it fits together securely. There is a foam spacer already installed to ensure the disk doesn't wobble about inside and another foam spacer is provided in case you want to install a thinner 7.5mm drive. It comes with a decent quality USB 3.0 cable. No screws or tools required, as it has a sliding lid. It comes with instructions, which you may need to refer to briefly to see how to open the case.

Another thing to mention is that it ships in a nice sturdy box, so no concerns about it getting squashed in transit.

4.0 out of 5 stars The print quality is just fine - maybe a little worse for photos/images but not ..., 19 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These cartridges have provided a stay of execution for my printer. The cost of printing with HP original cartridges is just astronomical, and I can no longer justify it just to print out the odd letter, voucher, or postage label. These are 3 times cheaper than the HP combo pack.

The cartridges arrived in a proper professional-looking retail box and I didn't have any problems with leakage as some reviewers have noted. They were sealed in much the same way as the HP cartridges. The print quality is just fine - maybe a little worse for photos/images but not significantly. When I left the printer for a week or so without using it and then printed something, I did get some streaks in the images on the first page but they quickly sorted themselves out. I don't know how these will fair after being in the printer for some time; probably not as good as the HP cartridges in that respect. There is more ink in them compared to the standard (non XL) HP cartridges, so they should last longer providing they don't dry out / clog up.

The main downside is that the printer complains that it is not fitted with genuine HP cartridges every time you turn it on, but you simply press OK and it works as normal. Ink levels are also not reported, but the cartridges have transparent casing so you can always open the printer and check how much is left. I found that the HP cartridges continued to print for quite a while after reporting low ink, so the levels reported by the software aren't really useful except perhaps to give you a heads up to order some more. I always printed until they actually ran out completely, given the cost of the HP cartridges.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality RAM, 19 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is quality RAM. When I built my machine in 2011 I used 2x4GB sticks of this stuff which at that time cost £35. Recently I needed to upgrade to 16GB (for virtual machines). The price of 2x4GB has gone up to over £60 though, but I found this 4x4GB kit here on Amazon for £85. Cheaper to buy this and sell my old 2x4GB. Although the price of this kit has now gone up, if you're after 16GB of DDR3 1333MHz you can't go wrong. The heat spreaders help keep the chips cool, but they're not too bulky unlike the Corsair Vengeance variety and fit just fine under my Arctic Freezer 7 Pro CPU cooler.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thiswatch is just awesome, 19 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This watch is just awesome. It looks great, it's sturdy, it charges from the sun and keeps the time automatically from the radio signal. You probably will need to read the manual to figure out how to use all its features; it's not the most intuitive to operate. The digital display is impossible to see in the dark, but even those minor points aren't enough to warrant docking a star given how great it is in all other respects.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good mid range card, 19 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a good card for gaming at 1080p on "High" settings. Just don't expect to be able to crank up to "Ultra". Most current games should do 60fps or more on high. Tomb Raider does, Thief drops a bit below that (53fps average on my setup). Good card for the price paid (£139.99), although a 3GB R9 280 could be had for around £20 more if you shop around. I didn't want to have to upgrade my PSU though, and really wanted the Vapor-X cooler, so stuck with this 270X. On the subject of the Vapor-X cooler, it's the best thing about this card. It keeps it really cool and is barely audible. When not gaming, it's silent, or at least can't be heard above the quiet PSU and case fan I have in my system. I think it's worth the price premium over the non Vapor-X (Dual X) version and it comes clocked a little higher than the Dual X.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great case, useful keyboard, just one minor gripe..., 16 Jun 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this to go with my NATPC M009S RTB ULTIMATE 16GB Capacitive Android tablet PC - Android 4.0 ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich)- now with DOUBLE storage (16GB) and DOUBLE system ram (1GB) for ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE - WiFi

It's a good quality item especially considering the low price. I notice some people have commented that the tablet can slide out the side of the case, but mine has a spring-loaded top clip that grips the tablet pretty well and this hasn't happened yet.

The mini USB cable that connects the keyboard is great. There was no way I was going to buy a case with a full-size USB connector and have to use an adapter.

The keyboard is a bit too small to touch-type on, but I bought it mainly for controlling classic games that don't lend themselves to touch screen controls. It's fine for this, providing your fingers are small enough to operate the arrow keys.

The only issue I have with the keyboard is that, when it is plugged in, it causes the tablet to power up from stand-by periodically, even though no keys have been pressed. This results in the battery going flat if you leave the keyboard plugged in. Shutting the device down fully solves this, but I prefer to leave it on stand-by when it's not being used. I don't really want to have to plug/unplug the keyboard every time I come to use the device as it will cause excessive wear to the USB socket. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the keyboard, something peculiar to this tablet, or an issue with the OS (Android 4.0.3). I've docked one star because of this; without this issue it would have been 5 stars.
