It's a pity that more people in the UK are unaware of how good all Rich Hopkins albums are - pretty much every one is a winner whether it's with with the Luminarios or with his previous bands The Sidewinders and The Sand Rubies. The Crazy Horse comparison by the previous reviewer is very much spot on and I would add that RH makes music like Neil Young released at his peak (there can be no higher compliment), although he is very much his own artist. This album is a great place to start, then check out the back catalogue. He also has a German fan club where you can find really tremendous live recordings not available elsewhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beware of Faulty Sets, 12 July 2013
This review is from: Surf-Age Nuggets (Audio CD)
Really nice set but I have now had 2 sets with a CD2 which will not read or play on my Musical Fidelity CD player although it plays on my computer & DVD player. The problem may be confined to players which display text - maybe others can comment on this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inferior Collection? Most Certainly Not!, 21 Oct. 2012

I am quite frankly amazed that anyone would give this set a one star review, even allowing for the fact that everyone is entitled to their opinion. While some of the music is understandably a little different to the original band, there is a lot of fabulous southern blues-rock and boogie and it is seldom less than very good aand mostly excellent. It's almost a give away at the price so buy it and make up your own mind. Certainly ***** (5 stars) in my book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do not Pay inflated Price for this album, 17 Oct. 2012
This review is from: MERCHANTS AND THIEVES (Audio CD)
I would echo all the good comments that have been written about this album and would also recommend that you check her out live if you get the opportunity.
BTW the album is currently on sale through Sandi's official web site (at the time of writing) for a fraction of the cost on here so check it out first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hands down, album of the year, 8 Dec. 2010
This review is from: Songs of the Grateful.. (Audio CD)
This is easily the best CD I have heard in a long time. If you are a deadhead or just love great acoustic music, or indeed any great music I cannot recommend this too strongly. Up in the clouds Jerry will be dancing - or maybe joining in on banjo. Superb sound quality too.

I don't normally write reviews, but anybody who has either seen or heard Tandy will tell you that they are a fantastic band and sadly below the radar.
Buy this compilation with total confidence & then start on the back catalogue.
Absolutely Brilliant!!!!!!

One of the previous two reviews really does not do justice to this superb collection from Rhino (a recommendation in itself). Almost all of the 100 tracks on offer are worthy of your attention whether your preference is for power pop, new wave, garage or if you simply love great music regardless of genre - which surely is really the point anyway! I guarantee you are unlikely to be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars POP GENIUS, 26 July 2003
This review is from: Fugitive Girls (Audio CD)
Can you use the phrase "Pop Genius" for an artist who I believe has only released two albums? You will have to decide for yourself but but I feel in the case of Frank Bango the term is very much warranted. From the opening track "The Fugitive Girls Theme" to the "Theme Reprise" 14 tracks later, this is a sensational album. Initially the up tempo tracks such as "Candy Bar Killer" and "Olivia 101" crab the attention But over a number of plays you will find every track getting under your skin. I find his voice is very Elvis Costello like and throughout the whole album you get the feeling that you are listening to Costello playing baroque guitar pop. But ultimately Fugitive Girls is simply a stunning pop album. The Not Lame record label have a have a flawless catalogue of power pop releases - don't let Michael Carpenter or the Rooks pass you by, and Fugitive Girls is as good as any.
