Nice little kit with everything you would need including all threads and a needle. I am new to cross stitch and this was the perfect introduction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not an award winner, but wonderful anyway, 28 Oct. 2004
This book is never going to win any literary awards, but I adored it. The characters were adorable, the plot is pacey and interesting, and the scene at the end makes all the tension between the two main characters, Holmes and Russell, utterly worth the wait. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a mystery, a bit of Victorian society stuff, and of course a little bit of romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars You want accuracy? This is it..., 11 Jun. 2004
This series was the best piece of Historical Drama that I have ever seen; sumptuous costumes, accurate events, and all in all fantastic performaces from Robert Hardy, Ronald Hines and of course the ultimate Elizabeth I in the form of Glenda Jackson. I cannot praise this enough; abandon all the more glamourous, hyped up versions of the history, and come here - you won't be disappointed.

The Athenian Murders
The Athenian Murders
by Jose Carlos Somoza
Edition: Paperback
Price: £9.99

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent, 20 Feb. 2004
This review is from: The Athenian Murders (Paperback)
This book was entertaining, thoughtful and downright clever. The ideas were complex, but as an older teenager looking for something thoughtful and challenging, it was excellent. Not only was the basic detective story entertaining, but the undertone of, firstly, elegant literary ideas, and secondly, philosophy were very interesting.
The twist at the end was unexpected but fascinating. I admire Somoza for coming up with something so ingenious.

4.0 out of 5 stars It was great - but..., 19 Nov. 2003
For the majority of this novel I was stunned by it's maturity and interest, and believable characters.
However, when I got towards the end I lost interest. The descriptions became too long, the end was confusing and abrupt, and that disappointed me a little.
However, it was a good reworking of Beauty and the Beast. I'd recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent, 11 Nov. 2003
'Just Ella' was an excellent twist on the superficial reality of the Cinderella story - when Ella begins to doubt her love for Charm, the reader cheers; and when she makes her great escape, we cheer some more.
The end was a little off, I thought; but otherwise, an excellent thought-provoking insight into the fairy tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent debut..., 16 May 2003
Victoria Hanley has proven her worth with this story; it is compelling, magical, and the characters are wonderful. I certainly look forward to her next book! In the mean time, I heartily recommend this one!
