4.0 out of 5 stars nuclear fallout, 1 Feb. 2010
Having many films in my dvd library of this nature ... yes i know, not exactly normal viewing for some, i decided to give this one a go. Plesantly surprised at this. It begins with normal conditions , families doing what families do, mum kissing dad goodbye for work, and looking after the children. They feel the explosion that rocks the city , but being away from there have no knoweledge of what has happened -all they can do is wait..
As the film continues we see the effects that nuclear war has on this one town, how the people are affected , and how they cope as they get ill and begin to die from radiation. Nobody can hide from this and the characters that we become familiar with in the film have to deal with what is happening in their own way. The scenes of children becoming ill and dying are touching. The film has some good acting , a few bits that are drawn out , but given the nature of the film , it seems to fit with the pace of it. If your'e not interested in happy endings, you'll like it, if youre looking for upliftment, don't watch it. I like this one , wasn't big in it's time but a good one to see.

4.0 out of 5 stars Docu- style film, 1 Feb. 2010
The film begins with somebody trying fix a film reel , and we soon realise that something has happened to drastically reduce the worlds population.

Basically a film about two men who are of the age that they remember what the world was like before, electricity, tv ,etc. They set out to make a documentary, after getting a camcorder to work, and we realise that it is ten years after the population diminished and the world as they knew it ended. The film is done in documentary style as we follow the two around , finding survivors to interview.

Interesting theories on the younger generation that don't remember the earth filled with people, supermarkets, football matches or the family unit. The older ones want to make this film before all memory of the world as it was is lost.

Not a bad film, depending on your collection of dvd's it's a great one to go in the post apocalyptic section.

5.0 out of 5 stars A forgotten gem from Romero, 1 Feb. 2010
Romero is notably more famous for his big hit films but as a Romero fan i have had this one in my collection for a while , it's a forgotten gem from its time and anybody who is into Romero will appreciate this film. If you're going to watch the remake of this , i'd suggest you have a look at this one first if you've not seen it. Great film give it try.

3.0 out of 5 stars if you're into this......, 1 Oct. 2009
Not a long running time on this one. Stories of unexplainable ghostly activity, paranormal happenings, and the stories behind them.

worth a look if you are into this kind of stuff , but not a great deal to get to scared about, pretty tame but watchable, if you have a spare hour or so.

3.0 out of 5 stars Zombie Survival, 1 Oct. 2009
Good sized deck of cards with each one giving info on how to slaughter/ maim, turn the kitchen appliances into weapons etc etc

Long hair needs cutting as zombie can grab ponytail, small knives are not good as they tend to miss the target when thrown, swords far more preferable... amazing what you can learn. If you're not concerned with the expense, these are a good set for your zombie survival collection, though if you really believe it is going to happen, memorise the cards. They may be too big for you to take out and read as you are running screaming down the street being chased by your hungry neighbours.

Basically the book turned into cards but great for a bit of fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for a laugh, 1 Oct. 2009
As the previous reviewer says, this is a b movie film, but great for a laugh. Billy Zane plays a great part in this, and you can't help but laugh. Even though it is b movie, there are some good scenes in this film, worth watching .. give it a go , you'll be surprised.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth watching, 8 April 2008
A bride and groom take off on their honeymoon, lazing on the beach one sunny day , out of the water staggers a man , who promptly takes a few chunks out of the groom and kills him. Man dies. Police arrive , groom declared dead in hospital, then wakes up hungry. Groom is not the vegetarian he used to be.
After trying to supress his appitite the groom decided when bride is out that he is starving and a passing jogger takes his fancy , wife comes home to find groom eating the jogger.
From here the film is funny in parts as wife decides that for better or for worse applies, but will she be able to stick by her new husband when he proceeds to eat the policeman/ friends/ neighbours... oh and a travel agent
Not the normal zombie film that you would expect , b movie acting , but funny enough in parts and watchable... if you have exhausted your stash of zombie dvd's try this , it's not as bad as the title makes it look.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dont Buy This, 8 April 2008
The weakest plot ever , the worst acting ... ever ... one of those films that you buy, stick on the dvd ... and wait, you know the type... it could get better. It doesn't! The title suggests a good down to earth, end of days survival film, you will find that you are lucky to survive watching it. Save your money .

3.0 out of 5 stars different, 7 April 2008
This subtitled movie has all the makings of a fantastic film, not bad acting , good ideas, and if you are into the dead returning , you will like this. Do not expect zombie/ gore/ horror... it is simply a tale of all the dead that have been buried in a town over the last decade coming back. The film never explains why they rise from their graves and walk down the main street at the same time, in clothing that is still intact. Interesting theory on the families going to collect their loved ones from the hall they are being kept in, and the changes that have happened over the last decade. All is not well with the recently returned though as we soon find out, they are polite, well mannered , smile at their families, and then try to escape the houses they are in , countless town hall meetings and discussions of having them back in their old jobs seem to confuse the living as obviously the positions have been filled, and then the "dead" begin to have their own meetings. What do they want? Don't expect a major ending on this one , the answer is very simple... if you can work it out. A sunday afternoon film that makes you think... what if mine came back? Go ahead try it , you may be pleasantly surprised.
